I don't want to bash it, I want it to inprove
first I loved the location, BUT None of the cabins had phones in them or the house. so you would have to walk over to the front desk (witch was in a cabin of its own) whenever you wanted something. That means walking in the rain some time or the dark using a flash light to get there The room came with no blankets and when I went to ask for some, I’ve told that they ran out of blankets. Later at night when the weather got too cold because the AC I was forced to go to the front desk witch meant leaving my cabin in the pouring rain and insisted that they provide me and my son with blankets. another unprofessional thing happen in the temple tree house, when I left the hotel I forgot by accident one of my son Medication in the fridge and a big jar of organic honey. I called the place less than 12 hours after I left to ask about it. I have been told that they through it in the trash. for Muslims, you will not find the bathroom equipped with (water flash or lota) Also To add on to the problem you can feel the shortage of staff. Every time I went to the front disc I found no one there and I had to search for him or her. keep in mind the front disc close at 11 p.m. In my opinion they depend to much on the location and greenery that they start to neglect their responsibilities. If you are looking for a camping place, the temple tree is what you are looking for.

Great place in Langkawi for family stay
Beautiful hotel and location, great amenities, friendly staff but disappointed that none of the 20 Christmas cards left with reception for posting with cash for stamps did not arrive at their overseas destinations! Also, very poor wifi in room and woken one night by a bat flying around our bedroom. Even so, would still stay here again.

Bad condition unit, unacceptably not clean, a lot of insects in the room, no screens on the windows. I checked out after first night and no refund was offered to me for the remaining period.

I admire what the owner has done with the place relocating these heritage homes from various places in Malaysia and acknowledge that these are old houses, however the rooms need to be pest proof. We had a rat in the room who woke us up around midnight on the first night and we asked to change rooms. There was no security guard on the property but the person on duty came when called on his duty phone. We were then put up in a bigger house which was also not pest-proofed as there were decorative openings which can be easily sealed by using perspex/acrylic/glass or a mesh.I met the owner and explained that guests need to feel secure and comfortable in order to have great memories of a family vacation specially when there are children and we are not locals. Also suggested that the property lights outside the houses should be kept on at night since it was pitch dark when we moved houses specially since the path is uneven. Energy savings can be achieved by sealing openings as far as possible (whilst retaining the asthetics) so that the use of AC can be optimized and by using LED lights instead of spotlights. The owner gave us a refund for the first night. Besides the above incident, it was a nice place to chill and the staff was very friendly.

The hotel is well set up. We loved the staff hospitality and genuineness. The theme of the place was also interesting. We thought of highlighting few things that visitors should be aware of, from expectations from the place: The breakfast was sent a day earlier for next day. We have to make our own toast, can't have freshly brewed coffee or fresh omlette. It was disappointing after spending decent money. Have a mini restaurant for serving guests WIFI was patchy. We had to rely on our mobile network Rest was all good.

Me and my sister stayed in Plantation 4 for 3 nights. If you are considering booking this hotel, do not hesitate! It isn’t such a different and unique experience compared to the same sterile hotels you stay in usually. It has so much character and you are literally staying in a museum. The beds were comfy, rooms clean and had such beautiful decor leaving the original features in place. We stayed in a Chinese Malay house which wasn’t stunning. Every evening you get given your breakfast for the next morning so you can enjoy a peaceful and private breakfast. You are provided with bread, yoghurt, fruit, jam, coffee, tea, bread and also a cake (which changes every day) We ate on the restaurant on the final evening and the food was delicious! The resort also has a dog and cat rescue centre and we took a couple of the dogs for a walk. There are three swimming pools which are great. The one at Bon Ton Is the best and you get complimentary iced water served by a lovely man. Overall this place is amazing and I will definite return!

Very different experience feom the regular hotels. Good for a kampong type experience. Dowsides: no access to TV, WiFi (though it was advertised as being available). Not able to open windows in the room because of insects and animals coming into the room.

A unique experience but far from five star
The unique format of the hotel, of importing and rebuilding beautiful houses from around the world is a fantastic concept. However, the houses weren't thoughly cleaned, we had a wasps nest on the balcony and the beds weren't very comfortable. We did stay 10 days, maybe if we stayed for a shorter period of time, this wouldn't have bothered us so much. Staff are lovely. The breakfast is delivered to your door the night before, which is a bit basic too.

Hotel was very good, but cats always wanted to enter room. And it was too much. I think that many guests allow them to enter rooms. But we are not, because of allergy. Please understand this and bit concern for some guests.

Beautiful relaxing stay
We loved our stay at Temple Tree, it was peaceful, relaxing and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food at the Bon Ton restaurant was delicious. The pool was lovely and clean and we were often the only ones using it. The walk to the beach/shops area was a little long in the heat, but we expected this, so it was easy to take a taxi. I would love to stay here again.

Ok the staff. We're very helpfull. The breakfast was continental style witch was put in the fridge for you at night . I was in a bottom room witch was noisy at night if some one rang the water above as the pipes ran down into me room. Also it's about 20 minute walk to beach bars and places to eat

Brilliant, unique, charming hotel
Really convenient from the airport, this is an amazing hotel. We were warmly greeted and got upgraded to Room/Residence 1 which had a huge bed and amazing bathroom - double shower heads on one side and a big wooden bath at the other. There was a very comprehensive 'guerilla warfare' kit for the mosquitoes which worked really well (I usually get bitten like crazy). I didn't get bitten once in the room but inevitably got bitten outside in the surrounding area, so just expect that if you have tasty blood like me! There are loads of cats about, some a little unkempt with cuts and scratches from scrapes with each other, but they all seem friendly and will come in your room if you leave the door open, so just be aware if you don't want them in. The bar was open late, a relaxed area with friendly staff, and there was a pool table, two nice swimming pools and lots of books and dvds to use if you fancy. The only real comment we could make is that there were quite a noisy couple the room next to us for one of the nights, we could hear them laughing and talking late into the night. It wasn't unbearable by any means, just to mention that the walls are wooden - sound does carry so do expect it. I would definitely recommend this hotel, just be realistic that it is a semi-rural location, a bit of wildlife around etc - but embrace it, because it is unique and excellent value for money :)

Unique hotel.
We loved our stay at temple tree. Quiet and relaxing hotel, different to any other hotel on Langkawi in the unique, stunning style of the buildings and atmosphere created by the resort. We loved that you could get involved in helping out by walking the dogs at the animal shelter close by if you wanted to. Will definitely be coming back.

Not what I expected at all. I was first driven to Bon Ton ( the sister hotel 5 minute walk away). Once they realised I booked temple tree, the servers changed from welcoming to indifferent. The room was quite run down( you can say it's vintage but the furniture should be retouched really). TV does not have cable channel but you can borrow dvd from Bon ton. Bed was sqeaky and mattress springy. Shower is huge for unknown reason and the bathtub is open- air outside of the shower. Breakfast is stored in your mini fridge the night before. You can prepare it by yourself with the toaster and coffee maker. With fruit, yogurt, chocolate cake and juice as well. The walk from the hotel to cenang beach was about half an hour. Not on a proper sidewalk though. I would suggest getting a taxi for around 15 ringgit instead of walking on the road with cars running by. Did not swim in the pool outside. One of it was quite dirty floating with leaves and algae. On the way to my room, Walked inside the colonial house one night and a huge rat dashed out from the common area. I understand the hotel is in the nature but it gave me a huge shock. Wonder why all the cats could not scare away the rats... Guess it would be a romantic place for couples and quiet for elderly. If you are traveling solo, there are many more better choices.

Most of the 'chalets' are no better than sheds, they are in poor repair and do nothing to keep the local wildlife, bugs and noise out. This makes rest difficult as some rooms are close to a local road and the airport is nearby. The amenities are poor and not maintained. The TVs in the room are not connected to any external service. On a plus side the restaurant is good and the staff are very pleasant and helpful.

The resort was wonderfully relaxing and the staff were outstanding. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded when the China House became available and I cannot speak highly enough of the way we were treated. Loved the cats and lazing around the pool in between exploring the island. Top class restaurant on site and highly recommended.

Bon Ton Temple Tree
Stayed in Bon Ton Temple tree for 3 nights during monsoon season - torrential rain leaves puddles that drain away quickly, umbrellas provided. Mosquitos are a problem - the rooms have a mosquito guerrilla warfare kit which works, we didn't get bitten in the room but elsewhere in the resort can be a problem. Staff very helpful, arranged car hire and booked taxis for us, help with printing boarding passes for ferry. Food was excellent in both restaurants and breakfast delivered to room was more than adequate: excellent bread and cake!

After reading all the reviews on Temple tree, I wasn't sure what to expect. Overall was a good stay. Check in/Arrival: On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady at reception who gave us plenty of information about Langkawi. We were served Pineapple Mint tea and played with the friendly cats while waiting to see if we could check in early. We got to check in 2 hours earlier which was great and was shown all the amenities in the room. The group of 3 of us stayed in Chinese 1. The room was decorated beautifully and had all the neccessities. Staff/Customer service: Great service by all staff that we interacted with. They were very helpful and accomodating. Helped us to check in early, recommended spas, helped book rental car and taxis, helped us check out later. Chinese 1: The room had a great atmosphere and if youre looking for a different experience where you stay in a historical building then this would suit you. However if you are afraid of bugs, geckos and cats this is not the place for you. We definitely made full use of the insect repellent, bug spray and mosquito net around the main bed. The cracks and gaps in the wooden wall and floor boards dont help with keeping away the bugs. However we didnt mind the cats (except not great for hayfever), and the geckos were harmless (although did freak us out inititially). We loved the big bath tub and the beds were comfortable. We also enjoyed the pool outside our room. We loved the continental breakfast that was included.

Decent hotel but over priced
I was under the impression that it would be a lot closer to the beach. But that's not the case, you'd have to hike through some pretty rural area to get there. I loved the colonial style architecture style and decor of the buildings, but thought they weren't very well maintained. This is overall a decent accommodation. I would rate it a three star accommodation.

Beautiful hotel with fantastic service
We were so impressed with the level of service we received from Fitri, Millie and Mas. They really made us feel like we were staying in a home away from home. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast is delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel to families and any one looking for a true Malaysian experience.
