Lovely house set in a large grassy yard (perfect for badminton, ghosts in the graveyard or just running around) and fronting onto a lovely quiet lake great for swimming and kayaking (house has a couple kayaks to borrow). The house shares a sandy beach and dock with an adjacent rental, perfect for kids and adults. We had two families staying including 3 adult kids, one teenager, and the set up worked out very well. We'd love to come back next year.
We had a wonderful time at this beautiful home . The setting on the lake and pond was peaceful and serene. Our hosts made us very welcome and responded immediately to our needs.
property is very impressive. large enough for wiffle ball game, volleyball, soccer, bocce and nightly fires in the pit. The lake is great for swimming, kayaking etc. Great sandy bottom and beach. Hosts were gracious and immediately responded to any request. Home was spacious and easily housed all 17 of us. We have stayed in many VRBO's in numerous states and this ranks with the best of them. The surrounding area has numerous hiking trails , lake superior, and othe outside activities to enjoy.
We had 8 adults, 8 kids aged 7mo to 16 and used all 6 bedrooms! Loved that we could all eat together and have multiple rooms to visit, babies could play in one area and board games in another. Enjoyed the lake fishing and kayaking. The kids enjoyed the raft and the sandy shoreline near the docks. Saw the trumpter swans, blue heron, loons, and eagle and lots of painted turtles. The dragonflies helped keep the mosquitoes in check which is saying something for this wet summer. The tics were out in the taller grass, but either stay out of it or wear appropriate clothing/bug spray. Owners were very helpful and enjoyable to visit with; and take pride in this peaceful family property.
We had a wonderful time with extended family at this cabin. The beach was perfect for the little ones and the extended property was an awesome place for them to explore the outdoors. The kitchen/dining areas worked great for large group meals both inside and out. The only thing that wasn't clear from the listing is that some of the bedrooms required going through another bedroom to get back to the main living area.
We had a wonderful family vacation! The hosts, Sandy & Steve were near by to answer any questions and to make sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed swimming, playing in the sand, the hammocks, the swing, kayaking, canoeing & rowing. We also rented a pontoon and had the whole lake to ourselves, watching for eagles, loons and fish jumping out of the water. Campfires & s'mores, with plenty of comfortable outdoor seating. Biking on the area trails and many trails on the property. Beds were comfy and it was so quiet. We are hoping we can come back next summer!
We had a great time together for a family reunion. The house was perfect for 13 but could absolutely house more. The kitchen had everything we needed to prep meals. The lake was great for swimming, boating and canoeing. We saw ducklings, loons, eagles, wolf tracks, a black bear and heard the owls every night. There are many gravel trails in the area. The Agonikak trail was particularly beautiful. And every night, we gathered around the fire to make s’mores and reminisce about the day. House was well maintained, albeit a bit quirky. Sandy (owner) was a total delight - sweet, charming and super helpful, available whenever needed.
The hosts did a fantastic job of updating this charming, old lake home. The house is in great shape, and it has many nice amenities and a lot of charm, including 2 refrigerators, plenty of seating and beds, and adequate bathrooms. The outdoor space is nice, and has a lovely fire pit, both gas and charcoal grills, and lots of room for kids and pets to roam. There are nice hiking trails and it is very close to Land O Lakes if you need to run into town for groceries. The hosts themselves were very friendly and responsive and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I would definitely rent from them again.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but we do want to point out something we did not know about this property until we arrived:
There is another rental property run by the same hosts that is only about 100 yards away. It actually sits on the lake that is described as "private" in this listing. To use the docks and beach on the lake, you have to walk through their backyard, where their lawn chairs and firepit are located, which is fairly awkward.
In addition, the docks, small beach, as well as all of the boats, life vests, and paddles are shared with the other rental property. Fortunately the other renters were very kind about sharing everything with our group during our stay, but it certainly was not what we expected when we rented this house, as the listing made it seem like it was a private lake. Just know that you may be sharing the property with another group.
