Short Walk to Village...with Private Wooded Setting. Best of Both Worlds

Historic Lake Placid holiday home in Lake Placid Club, near Mirror Lake
As Lake Placid Club grew from its inception in 1895, it experienced many expansive changes. At it's height, the private club included 6,000 acres in an extensive development of accommodations, recreation facilities, service buildings, farmland and forest. In the early part of the 1900s certain members of the club were no longer satisfied with the hotel-like accommodations in the large club house. Over time some 40 cottages were built near, but separate from, the main building. Today, fewer than a dozen of these historic buildings remain. Our house, Juniper Cottage, built in 1923, is one of them. The total renovation of the property, completed in July 2005, has been as respectful as possible to the original Juniper and is designed to maximize its secluded forest setting and the variety of mature trees which surround the house. Juniper has 4 bedrooms each with their own screened in porch and bathroom. The master bedroom has a gas fireplace (gas), queen bed, sitting area with two chairs, and a closet. A second bedroom on the main floor has a queen bed and closet. The third main floor bedroom has two twin beds and a bathroom with whirlpool tub. The fourth bedroom is located down a spiral staircase from the main floor to a walkout lower level. This bedroom has two twin beds and a private bathroom. The laundry room is also downstairs with both a washing machine and dryer. The living room has a 14 foot cathedral ceiling, great views of the forest and a large stone fireplace. The room is perfect for sitting around the fireplace reading, chatting, watching TV, or listening to music on the Sonos system. Juniper is equipped with an iMac and high speed internet. Want to unplug? Then feel free to read one of the many books at Juniper, play one of the board games or do an old-fashioned jigsaw buzzle. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, gas range and oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, microwave and a large selection of dishware, glassware, pots, pans, utensils, etc. If you prefer to grill, there is a gas grill right outside the front door. If you come in the winter to ski, we have plenty of room for your equipment. There are racks to hold eight sets of skis. Also, inside the front door is a small, heated mud room with benches and coat racks so you can easily remove your winter clothes and boots without bringing them into the cottage. There is a small shed near the parking area of Juniper to put garbage and recyclables. And in the back yard there is a hammock for enjoying the good weather and a lean-to in case you want to spend a night outdoors. Juniper is close (10 minute walk) to town but situated in a private-wooded setting. This allows for privacy when grilling and/or dining outside. Or just when sitting with your family and friends around the outdoor fire pit roasting marshmallows. From Juniper Cottage you can easily access many activities. It is a short walk or bike ride into town and all that that has to offer including a park, public beach and tennis courts. On the Lake Placid Club grounds there are three golf courses designed by Scots for the Lake Placid Club. There is access to many hiking (and biking) trails right outside the front door. In the winter, these trails are great for cross country skiing. With a car, skiing at the Whiteface is 15 minutes away. In all seasons, near-by activities and attractions are truly limitless.
Guest accommodation at this holiday home offers fireplaces and DVD players. Rooms open to balconies. Kitchens offer fridges, hobs, microwaves and separate dining areas.

Bathrooms include a combined bath/shower unit and hairdryers. Additionally, rooms include coffee/tea makers and an iron/ironing board.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on-site or nearby; fees may apply.

Good times at Juniper Cottage.
Amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Juniper Cottage. It was everything we expected and more. Great location, fully stocked kitchen and comfortable accommodations. Eric and Leanne were the perfect hosts. We look forward to returning.

5/5 Excellent

Terrific cottage
Stayed 4 days at Juniper House - excellent cottage in a wooded area of Lake Placid Club. Quiet and private, but only a few mins drive (and 15 min walk) to Mirror Lake and Lake Placid town. Stay was with two families of 4, ample room given house layout and adjoining bathrooms in 3 of 4 rooms. Owners are great, and left ample wood/firestarters for chilly evenings in the winter. Property also a 15-min drive to Whiteface Mountain, for some of best skiing in the East.

50th Birthday Weekend
Great winter wonderland. We will be back.

Wonderful Family weekend away!
The Juniper Cottage was cozy but spacious with all the amenities you could need. A bathroom for every bedroom and plenty of wood for the fireplace. Very close to downtown Lake Placid and a short drive to Whiteface. We will be back!

Winter Wonderland
Wow. Beautiful cottage in the woods, within walking distance to everything. Took long walks in the snow on the golf course, hiked Cobbler's Hill, explored Mirror Lake, and never got in the car. The four bedroom, four bath setup was perfect for our family. Tastefully furnished with a wood burning fireplace in the great room. Eric was super accommodating. It was hard to leave. We will be back. Thanks Eric and Leanne and Happy New Year!
