There is plenty of room for six guests at the dining room table, and there are large flat panel TVs to enjoy your favorite show. We weren't that impressed with the amenities -- the pools were fine; the restaurant Longhi's was only so-so. Proximity to the beach is good, although the you have to watch for rocky spots in the shallow water and the waves aren't great for boogie boarding or surfing. It gets better as you move north toward Black Rock but it's still not that good. It's not too long a walk to Whaler's shopping. ##### Richard S. I only discovered the latter when I tried to use previously "washed" dishes and discovered they were still dirty. Very helpful and accommodating especially to my handicap mother. The rooms in the main building are outdated and could use some revamping. The location was good, the kids enjoyed the pool. The unit was perfect, with gorgeous views of the resort and the ocean. The grounds were great — lots of places for the kids to swim. We were able to using the facilities at the Hyatt next door - and that place is just beautiful - flamingos and swans walking around everywhere. The only thing is that you have to bring everything you need to cook - like the basics like salt and olive oil, etc but Safeway is about 6-7 min away. Incredible ocean views confirm you picked the right listing as you enter the opulent two bedroom unit. With upper floor views you never get of that deep blue ocean, and also the convenience of a short walk to whalers village or the private pool and pounding surf. We loved the amenities and closeness to the action but appreciated great service and hospitality there at the Maui Ocean Club. The location is perfect, so many options for things to do within walking distance. We stayed at the Marriott's in Kauai and Oahu, and they always seem to have the best location on the beaches. Lots of pools to choose from, never without finding somewhere to sit...lots of options, even on the beach. I do feel at the Kaanapali location they could up their game on the restaurants though, not a whole lot to choose from, but there are quite a few to choose from within walking distance, down by Whaler's Village, or go down to Front Street, lots to choose from there, plus lots of shopping. We stayed at the Westin Ocean Villas north of the Black Rock the second week we were there (because they didn't have space at the Marriott), and I can say that Marriott Ocean Club is way better. We had two 2-bedroom villas which were perfect for our needs. One was on the 8th floor and the other on the ground floor. The staff was so nice and friendly.
