Really lovely space behind a rough exterior

The upsides: The room was great - roomy, beautiful and with one of the most comfortable beds ever! The staff was very helpful. I have never sent out my laundry at a hotel before and was a bit skeptical, but I got it back the same day in excellent condition. There is a very good Thai restaurant onsite, and fortunately for me, it was just a few steps away from my room. I could sit there, or take back (or have sent back) a drink or bite to my room. The little hotel is also in a great area, with good shops, services and especially welcome, a great bakery cafe nearby. The downsides: It doesn't look appealing from the entrance. And there is no reception area or check in desk, although the guards at the gate help you get up to your room. The hallways are unfinished, so walking to your room may have you wondering about your choice, but it's like walking into a whole other space when you open the door to your room. There is a very nice lounge on an upper floor where coffee/tea and a light breakfast are served. The breakfast itself, though, needs improvement.
