The Moulin Rouge at sunset, on November 27, 2012 in Paris, France. Moulin Rouge is a famous cabaret built in 1889, locating in the Paris red-light district of Pigalle.

Tour the home of the cancan dance to find out about its lurid beginnings. The night club has been the inspiration for cabarets across Europe.

The red windmill of the Moulin Rouge has become one of the most recognisable symbols in France. The site of seductive dance at the turn of the 20th century has retained its original décor and puts on spectacular shows full of characters, such as clowns and acrobats. Visit the complex for an epic 2-hour performance that you will remember long after the end of your Paris trip.

From the street, capture photos of the iconic red windmill atop the Moulin Rouge. The show inside changes slightly every few years, but usually consists of a troupe of about 80 performers. Admire the elegant costumes of the Doriss Girls, as they dance in feathery outfits to French cabaret music. Italian artists design the flamboyant, colourful sets.

Sit at a table with champagne and a nice meal to watch the show in comfort. Enjoy the various scenes that focus on pirates, the circus and the history of the Moulin Rouge. Marvel at the impressive choreography and acrobatic feats. Appreciate the roller skaters and comical acts. Dress elegantly for the occasion to fit in with others in the ritzy atmosphere. You can buy tickets to Moulin Rouge shows right here on Expedia.co.uk.

Stop in at the gift shop before you leave to purchase souvenirs to remember your time at the site. You’ll find jewellery, books, stationery and somewhat raunchy items with a Moulin Rouge theme.

The site was founded in 1889 by two entrepreneurs. It has since been dramatised in film, most notably in the 2001 movie with Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman.

Find the Moulin Rouge in the 18th arrondissement, beside the Montmartre region in northern Paris. Ride the metro to the Blanche stop, which is a short walk from the site. Plenty of bus routes have stops nearby to transport you from across the city. Nearby attractions include the Montmartre Cemetery, the Sacré-Coeur and the Théâtre de l’Atelier.

Lido is much better than Moulin Rouge, both shows have very classy topless ladies wearing G strings whilst dancing -but not sexy-classy and tasteful.

Fantastic show but there was a section with pythons so it's not for snake fearers!
