It offers not only a breathtaking view, without vis-à-vis, the undulating meadows and surrounding forests, but in addition, it is located just ten miles of Autun, city of art and history, and forty kilometers of the most prestigious vineyards of Burgundy. Spacious, the "vintage" decor very neat, where it is good to rest with a wood stove in case of cooler evenings, also has, in addition to the above amenities, a beautiful terrace with table, umbrella and garden chairs € 345 / € 495 per week depending on season. Une bergerie refaite avec énormément de goût, il y a de la chaleur, on a envie de mettre des chaussons et de regarder les flammes danser dans le poêle... Tout est parfait de la cuisine à la salle de bain en passant par la déco. Pour ceux qui cuisinent le four est peut être un peu juste mais sinon rien à dire. Ah si un gros problème en fin de séjour... The calm, the silence, the beautiful view and the cows as neighbors. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and everything was neat and clean. The cottage is decorated with taste and detail. The surroundings are beautiful, we made many beautiful trips. We only found it a bit cold in the evenings with only a wood stove (September). Furthermore, the house is highly recommended. Wir würden mindestens 6 Sterne geben. In diesem Haus fehlt nichts. Wer Ruhe und Entspannung sucht ist hier genau richtig. Die Gastgeber Pierre und Michele sind sehr herzlich und hilfsbereit ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Die Inneneinrichtung des Hauses ist liebevoll gemacht, mit allem Komfort. Très calme et proche d'une nature bucolique et verdoyante. Toutes les commodités sont présentes pour passer un séjour agréable en toute autonomie. Cerise sur le gâteau: les propriétaires Michèle et Pierre sont des plus sympathiques. A coup sûr, nous y retournerons, été ou hiver! ##### Christophe L. Une semaine reposante passée en couple au milieu de l'été dans cette bergerie aménagée en gîte dans le hameau du Saussey en marge de la Grande Verrière. Le gîte est très bien aménagé pour être en parfaite autonomie et est parfait pour 2 personnes. La cerise sur le gâteau: les propriétaires sont charmants, sympathiques et disponibles. Die Ruhe bezahlt man aber mit etwas längeren Fahrzeiten egal wo hin man will, das muss einem klar sein. ##### Jan S. Archival ### 10/10 Excellent #### Andrew B. 3 Oct 2015 #### Remarkable little quiet cottage in Burgundy A quiet, tasteful retreat in the Burgundy countryside, far from traffic and commotion. La Grande Verrière is a delightful 2-3km walk from the rental, past fields and forest along dirt roads and lovely trails. There you will find a friendly little restaurant (Chez Cecile) and country store which surprisingly has everything you might need for a one or two week stay; meats, fresh cheeses, vegetables and fresh bread every morning. They even made gluten-free bread nearby, for my wife by order for Sunday, they day after we arrived. Charolais cows greeted us each morning with their mooing, just bordering our yard and the views from the yard and house are really stunning and expansive. We hiked a few of the GR trails to adjacent towns like St-Léger-sous-Beuvray and even though it rained a lot (mid- Sept) we were able to enjoy the outdoors without much discomfort. The house itself (la bergerie) does look like a converted sheep barn, but the inside is very tastefully laid out and decorated. There are plenty of pots and pans, dishes and silverware and also a washing machine (not listed in the description) which spins to 1400rpm. The proprietors (Pierre and Michèle) were very kind to us and provided us with useful advice and everything we needed to enjoy our time there - they also gave us a drying rack as we couldn't use the outdoor line while we were there. We cooked several of our meals inside and the induction cooktop was fast and very convenient (I had not used one previously), and we had no trouble at all operating comfortably in the kitchen. Tall ceilings with interesting drapes and window treatments, and the tall windows produce very nice lighting inside the house. Very clean air inside and out and the bed was large and comfortable - we slept well there, perhaps too well as we didn't get up as early as planned to complete all of our planned activities. This was a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay. We would really like to return again in a couple of years. Many nice activities in the area like Mont Beuvray (Bibracte), Autun, Beaune, Vézelay, but the local walks and towns that are less visited and quiet are a treat to see in a relaxed manner. We stayed one week, but two would have been ideal. ##### Andrew B. ---
