Like staying with friends
The whole staff was amazing helpful and nice people. The first night was my birthday they song happy birthday even brought out a cake. It made me feel welcomed and added to the experience. It’s not on the main strip of bars but a nice walk along the bay. You can get to lazy beach and the light house easily. Food was always good especially the curry. Just go out and explore the island after breakfast and come back at night to eat and drink. Would definitely recommend staying here

One of their dogs tried to bite me, power saws running continuously from breakfast to dinner, weird vibe at the bar, not run by Cambodians.

Dear Sir As can be understood from your writing - one of them tried to bite you, but didn't and you feel the media needs to be alerted. You were aware of the presence of the dogs and were also explained the need - as otherwise you would have our far flung relatives from monkey breed to contend with. You mention that power saw was running from breakfast to dinner. Yes, we are making the place better for our guests like yourself. I do have to give an extra bonus to the workers as it seems they worked overtime. The usual schedule is from 7-11AM and 1-5PM and our dinner starts at 6PM. I am glad you stuck around to write us about it. Your last comment is that the place is not run by Cambodians - you are absolutely correct, our staff is a mix various nationalities: German, Russian, Khmer, Czech, French, Filipino. We embrace all nationalities.

worst hotel staff I have ever encountered
Horrible horrible horrible horrible horrendous. The people running this place seems to be criminals. They are the rudest people I have ever encountered in my whole life. Just read other reviews and their response to any negative review to get a glimpse of understanding how bad they are. Unless you want to be insulted and going crazy on your holiday, stay away from this place. The Cambodian state should expel these people from their beautiful country.

Let me summarize to fully understand your position: the hotel is run by the rudest criminals who have insults in their duties as a lot of guests mentioned in reviews and must be expelled from Cambodia. We are sorry that, apart from such an emotional statement, you did not leave any specific details so that we could figure it out and provide you with appropriate compensation if unpleasant circumstances happened. Since the opening of the hotel in 2016, hundreds of guests have lived with us and more than half thousand have left positive feedback (more than 8/10). Great place to relax!
The resort is located in a quiet area on the island perfectly blended the middle of the jungle, yet with beautiful sea views of the turquoise blue water. Walking distance from the main beach. Food in general food is really good and the breakfast is great (buffet-style). Rooms cleaned every day. Special thank you to Charlene (waiter) for her kindness and smile every moment. Overall great experience!

Unlike the other Koh Rong Islands that are crowded with mostly young people there to party. This island is peaceful and quiet. It's really a place to get away from the busy world. A time to unwind and relieve stress and refocus on the things that are important. The staff are courteous, and accommodating. The food was outstanding. I had a great time. One word of advice. I had gotten there a bit late, and my water taxi had already left. There were other taxis there that could've easily called the hotel for me to call the taxi back to pick me up. But when I asked one of them, that worked for " The One Hotel ". He lied to me and said that I had to take a two hour walk with my luggage ( actually 25 minutes) and that I was stuck there. He then said that he would take us for $15 . (Actually $10) if you were to hire a private water taxi. So be informed.

The guest tends to stalk staff with repetitive requests. He managed to loose the key. The key was later returned by other guest found in rather obvious location.

Good value. Location a little pit the way but boat available to take you to the beach close by or 30-40min walk. Hotel offer good activities and staff very friendly and accommodating.

You are totally correct noticed we are located about a 5-minute walk distance from Soon Noeng pier and about 40 minutes from the furthest pier therefore we always send a welcome message before arriving and suggest to chose on the nearest pier or ordering a boat taxi if you have heavy luggage. Nice pöace, friendly people. But if you pay 70 USD or more, there should be a hot water maker in the room and a second, smaler towl. Its complicated to know, who is part of the staff,because the have no signs and there is a lot of changing.....

We clearly understand how much discomfort this brings to guests, but this is our conscious choice to preserve the environment.The water heating system is completely dependent on the activity of the sun and varies from hot at noon to slightly colder in the evening.Our desire is to interfere as little as possible with the beautiful nature of our island and therefore we hardly use a generator and always prefer solar energy. We are making a lot of efforts to preserve this nature sanctuary in its original form: invested a lot in solar panels and try to eliminate the pollution caused by the generator, do separate waste collection, do not cut down forests for construction, we carefully monitor the territory and our pets (we move horses to different pastures every day to preserve the grass cover). We believe that even this small impact can make a difference in the long run.We hope to see you again in our hotel where you can enjoy the nature of the reserved island.With best regardsSamloem Laguna resort team

Wake up to the sound of cicadas, jungle and sea.
Amazing cabins. Basic with fan and the water doesn't get beyond tepid (solar powered) Beautiful surroundings and small private beach. An amazing view away from the hustle and bustle of the main beach.Would go back.

Ziemlich abgeschieden und schlecht erreichbar. zum Teil gefährlich und mit Koffern gar nicht erreichbar! Unter diesen Umständen müsste zumindest wie bei den anderen Resorts der bootshutle Service kostenlos sein, jedoch kostet dieser pro fahrt mit 2 Personen nochmal 5 Dollar extra! Bungalows überteuert und ohne jeglichen Komfort, lediglich ein hartes Bett mit quitschendem Ventilator! Für 100 Dollar die Nacht gibt es lediglich am ersten Tag 2 Flaschen Wasser, danach muss man zahlen, andere Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gibt es in der Abgeschiedenheit nicht. Während des Frühstücks wird mit Flex und Hammergeräuschen gebaut, insgesamt merkwürdige Stimmung in der Anlage!

Hello!We regret that didn't meet your personal expectation and you have such a negative impression of our hotel, unlike most of our guests. You correctly noticed we are isolated but not abandoned and located about a 5-minute walk distance from Soon Noeng pier(where some domestic shops are located) which we sincerely declare in a welcome letter after reservation and on all sales web pages too. In our location, we see several significant advantages and our guests can enjoy the tranquility away from noisy evening parties and karaoke performances closer to midnight similarly private beach privilege ( high-level water to swim and observe marine life like glowing plankton, corals, and colorful fish). We understand that an evening promenade is just as important as healthy sleep, and therefore we always offer a transfer by boat to the main beach and back. Boat transfer is also available during the first arrival and check-in. The cost of this service is not included in the rate of rooms and we provide guests with a choice to have a comfortable boat trip directly from the arriving pier or not to overpay and make a small journey along a picturesque beach.On our island, prices for accommodation in hotels vary greatly depending on the season and holidays. For example, in the off-season, prices drop to 20-25, and on holidays (especially New Year's during which you were with us) they can rise up to 100. We assure you after the end of the public holidays the prices will be much lower and by waiting a few days you can save a lot.We always provide reliable information about our hotel: photos, living conditions, restaurant menu and entertainment so you can weigh the value of an offer and decide.We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the noise of the hammer. Like any hotel striving to make the stay of guests more comfortable, we update our buildings and facilities. 色々なものが足りない。
ここに書いてある設備の情報と違う事が多かった。 2泊しましたが、部屋の掃除がされてない。水の追加も無し。タオルも交換されない。ボディソープなども入ってない。 WiFiも完備されているというのも選択したポイントだが、スムーズに見たければSIMカードを買うようにという案内。 WiFiは一度も使えませんでした。 メインのビーチまでは徒歩で20分ほど。 多少の不便さは島ならではの魅力でもあるかもしれないが、せめて部屋の清掃やタオルの交換はして欲しかった。 今度行く時はメインビーチに近いところにします。

c'est une très bel endroit , niché dans la verdure, l'hôtel est entre terre et mer , des couchés de soleil à couper le souffle . La propreté , la décoration et le confort de notre chambre avec vu e sur la mer . Par contre , nous n'avons pas apprécié le faite de devoir donner son adresse IP pour avoir du Wifi , ce n'est pas correcte du tout et nous avons eu vraiment peur , suite à cela nous avons eu des soucis de connections avec nos smartphone ....prudence . Aussi non la propriétaire est plus qu'accueillante et super dispo , prof de yoga , elle fait régner une atmosphère plus que ZEn , la restauration est très bonne . Faut juste que les livraisons arrivent à temps :o)

Nice place with a few remarks
We hade a nice stay, the bungalow/room was nice and clean with a comfortable bed. NO Airconditioning though, so it will be hot inside. Also no hot water. The breakfast-service was awful, just awful - nothing wrong with the food though. The resort is a bit to the side of the beach, which has it's pro's and con's, thanfully there is their own free boat-service on a schedule, the boat is also available as a taxi for a very small fee. All in all I can recommend this place! Sidenote, I am struggling with the fact that they market themselves as a eco-resort with an emphasis on (solar)-energysaving. We saw no solar-panels and the power was always cut (we think manually) every night for a few hours. They say that it is because of the solar-energy running out but....it just doesn't fit into the whole scheme as a whole. IF it would be solar-powered, why can't they add boilers to the showers and AC into the rooms....

Dear Ronie, Thank you for your review. We are sorry that our breakfast-service did not meet the standards. We will do our best to improve this. About the solar panels: they are situated a little bit higher on the hill, away from the guest areas. This is why you do not see them. The fact that the power cuts sometimes (usually around 4 in the morning) is exactly because the electricity provided by the solar panels runs out. If we would put AC in all our rooms, we would not be able to service the whole resort. Also, we do have solar heated boilers, but not yet for all our rooms. Another thing we are still working on. As you can imagine, we have to work around the challenges that come with operating from a remote jungle island. There is always a lot to be done, and we are constantly improving and developing. We hope to see you again sometimes in the future! The Laguna-team

Not worth it.
Friendly staff and really good breakfast. The location was a bit off, but there was boat shuttles going to the pier a couple of times a day. We never used them, instead we walked. The boats did not go during the evening so if you wanted to eat somewhere else than the hotel restaurant you had to walk in the dark or take a taxi boat. The room was not the best standard and it was a bit dirty. Not what I experted for the money i paid. The wifi did not work during our entire stay even though the owner said it worked, so we had problems arranging the rest of our trip.

Apart from some distance limitations, this has worthy advantages our guests can enjoy the tranquility and private beach privilege ( high-level water to swim and observe marine life like glowing plankton, corals, and colorful fish). We always leave it up to guests to decide whether to use the services of a boat at a very reasonable price or to make a short trip along the picturesque beach.We acknowledge that at the moment not the entire beach is illuminated and the infrastructure is not as developed as on the mainland this brings some inconvenience, but at the same time leaves space for the wildlife sanctuary and the spirit of travel.We are sorry for the problems with Wi-Fi during your stay. It is not always possible for us to foresee and immediately eliminate the problem that arises. First off, the location is very beautiful. A peaceful place with scenic views. If you have the panoramic rooms, you can enjoy a nice view. The Cambodian staff was very friendly and helpful to us. As was the yoga teacher and the Scottish manager. The rest of the management seemed stressed and wasn’t very helpful. When we arrived at the resort there was nobody who welcomed us, while it was clear that we were new guests, fresh off the boat with backpacks on our backs. The managers stayed at the bar and didn’t look at us. We eventually went to the ‘reception desk’ ourselves and asked to be checked in. The manager looked suprised and told us our room wasn’t ready yet. That was it. No suggestions on how we could pass our time on this remote resort. When we asked him, eventually he mumbled something about a snorkle and a beach. We decided to eat something. While eating we constantly heard managers arguing with the staff. Sometimes they were quite rude to be honest. I believe it is not appropriate, if any, desirable to yell at your staff (in front of guests). Later that day they told us their boat was broken and that it probably wouldn’t run to bring us to shore the next day. We were somewhat suprised that he didn’t offer any alternative. He just said that we had to walk to the pier. A 20 minute walk across the beach, with our luggage! Long story short, our stay was ok. Be aware that the tap water is brown (it’s an island thing) and that there is lots of construction

That means a lot to us.We regret the inconvenience during check-in. This is our duty to provide smooth check-in and comfortable stay for all guests and we will conduct an internal review and take action.Just in case the regular check-in time is at 14-00 pm but we provide rooms free of charge upon availability even if guests arrive on the first ferry at 9-00 am as you did. But several options are also available: drop your luggage in a secure room and enjoy scenic views of the private beach, order breakfast or refreshments apart from welcome drinks, make a small adventure along the shore or jungle road, or just relax in our quiet terrace. During your stay, some refurbishment of the living villas and renewal of the central water cleaning filters were planned which we warn guests about before arrival and during check-in. To our regret, we cannot avoid all the inconveniences associated with the reconstruction, but we try to carry out work only at a convenient time for the guests.We invite you again to our hotel in order to make sure that we do not waste time in vain and constantly improve the quality of service.With best regards Samloem Laguna resort team

We were here in December, prices for the rooms are by far too high with regard to the quality , on the “private” beach construction works were under way, nice and and willing staff ( reception, restaurant) , but extremely slow service in the restaurant.

For example, in January, prices can differ by more than two times. Due to high demand, the service may be a little slower than usual.In order for guests to estimate the value of an offer we provide the most complete picture of our hotel, we always give truthful information about rooms and services with photos and detailed descriptions. The choice is always for guests.Unfortunately, in order to maintain the quality of stay at a decent level, once every few years we have to bring inconvenience to our guests due to the reconstruction of buildings. This process cannot be avoided, however, we are taking a number of measures to reduce inconvenience: we notify guests before arrival and at the time of check-in, we carry out work only at a convenient time and try to compensate for disturbance.
