The rooms in the basement are definitely not a 4 star experience. Although clean, this is more a 2 star hotel. During our stay the carpet was also wet and there were a few dehumidifiers running continuously.

They did not serve breakfast because their kitchen is under renovation, even though hotel.com still listed as breakfast included. They recommended diner around the corner was just OK. Other than that, the room was great, the beds were comfortable, and the location was centrally located.

"We stayed in the castle and it was so cool and quaint! It was quiet and the staff was so nice and helpful with what we needed. This is a great stop for a relaxing couple of days but it’s close enough to Edinburgh if you want to go there too."

"I really liked the quality of the bedding and the towels and the fact there was plenty of hot water. I had a quiet night without being disturbed by any noise. The restaurant was very good but it was necessary to reserve a table and I had to wait until 8.30 pm. The food was worth waiting for"
