LAID BACK LOCATION WITH A CASUAL VIBE.
"Coco's Cottage" is a classic OBX "beach box" with what you & your dogs need to RELAX and enjoy your time at the beach. Located near MP 6.5, between the roads. Built in 1972, much of the interior remains unchanged, including some of the decor & artifacts! 2 full baths & 2 queen beds, along with 2 twin beds. Comfortable furniture, kitschy decor, pet-friendly front porch and under-house area (picnic table, grill, ice cream maker, shower), LOTS of kitchen utensils, and tons of relaxing vibes! Games, books, Wi-Fi, TV's and the same beach & salt air as available at places costing 18 times as much!!
1 block from the Beach Road & 5th St beach access at the LIFEGUARD BEACH. 3 blocks from the Avalon Fishing Pier. Target (with Starbucks) is at the end of the street, and on the way to the beach. Belk, Food Lion and other shopping is across the by-pass from Target - all within walking distance.
**NEW for 2025 - North Carolina's FIRST 'WAWA' has opened across from Target. Get your subs and head to the beach !!!! **

Electric grill is in the laundry. Outlet by the main steps is controlled by red switches. Clean after use, return to laundry. DO NOT use on deck.
Clean kitchen items / dishes before leaving. Some basic kitchen items are included - please replace if you use it all. Pay it forward. :-)
RELAX. The Cottage is not perfect. Things happen. Let us know of any issues, and we will do our best to correct the situation.

Excellent location!

We had a fantastic stay at Kill Devil Hills. This is an excellent location just one block from the beach and across the street from Target and Starbucks. We were also walking distance from restaurants so did not have to drive at all during our stay. Beautiful beach. Very dog friendly place. Remember to bring your own linens and toiletries and it’s a great place to stay.

The first thing my husband noticed were the cute post its randomly placed with song recommendations! The house is super close to the beach and was very cute! We had our 2 doodles and they absolutely loved the closed in porch to be on neighborhood watch the entire trip. The owner was very friendly and check in was super easy!

Perfect getaway

Amazing Cottage

The description in VRBO is very accurate. It’s an older cottage with paneled walls, but SO charming!! It was a perfect space for our friends and family. The host was extremely polite, helpful and responded in a very short time to answer any questions. We enjoyed the week there with a very short walk to the beach! Can’t wait to return…

Recommend- great location

We enjoyed our trip a lot. cocos cottage was in a good location and an easy walk to the beach and Target. It’s centrally located in the area and a quick drive to lots of restaurants, stores and activities. The house was good, easy to check in and good communication with Don. It is a little older home but is in a quiet neighborhood and has everything that you would need. We would stay there again and definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a great beach vacation house!

Fun Extended Weekend Trip

The listing is as described and pictures are accurate. Within driving distance to anything you could think of needing and within walking distance to the beach. Plenty of parking space and a hose / shower to rinse off all of the sand after a day at the beach. The host was easy to communicate with and was quick to answer any questions we had. Definitely somewhere that we will consider for future OBX family trips!

Pawfect place

Was a great house to stay in. We’ve been coming to the OBX for decades, and this has to be one of the most convenient spots. Really enjoyed the neighborhood, walk to the beach, and character of the place. One recommendation would be to put the “No linens or towels” provided somewhere more obvious. We missed that memo the first night we showed up. Otherwise it was great and will be back.

Second year was even better!

We stayed at Coco’s last year and decided to give it another shot this year. Don, the host, was great to communicate with before our arrival and during our stay. This property is a great beach box with plenty of supplies provided, including pots, pans and most things that we could need. I will say that didn’t stop us from walking to Target frequently though, which is easy to do since it is located so close to this property. We definitely would recommend this property and this host! Thank you for another great trip!
