Set in beautiful walking country near the Dales Way, the footpaths, bridleways and walled lanes provide walks directly from the house. Centrally placed for touring, with many historic buildings close at hand including Sizergh Castle, Levens Hall and Gardens, Holker Hall and Motor Museum, plus the 12th century priory at Cartmel. Lake Windermere, surrounded by exciting visitor attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes, Lakeside to Haverthwaite Steam Railway and the Brockhole Visitor Centre, plus the towns of Bowness and Windermere are all within 20-30 minutes’ drive. The market town of Kendal, 6 miles, has a castle, leisure centre, riverside walks and excellent variety of shops and restaurants. The high fells of Central Lakeland and the beautiful lakes of Coniston Water, Ullswater and Derwent Water can be reached in about 40 minutes for climbing and scrambling or simply to enjoy the magnificent scenery. Beautiful scenic views with the cottage set in a hill. Our only concern was the fact that it is a dog friendly holiday home and some of us were bitten by fleas. There may have been a mouse or rat living in there as some of us heard them in the night. Overall it was a good location and you must expect to live with the wildlife. We also lost Internet connection due to the thunderstorm. ##### susan b. The views from the garden are gorgeous, but better still, you feel you are a guest at a much loved family home, all down to the prints. paintings and statues that intrigue.
