Well run by Saman. Very comfortable tent with adequate en suite shower etc. Dinner around the fire was straight out of the film Out of Africa. Very good red wine. Didn’t try the white and the food was excellent. The safari was well worth the early start with a stop for breakfast served in the safari jeep. We had a drive and guide from the camp and a guide from the park too. They are amazing at spotting the game. It's amazing to listen to the sound of nature especially in the morning. To join the safari is recommended as the game does not provide big entertainment except peacefull tent areas with relaxing hammrocks. The staff is very friendly and caring. The tents are almost like Hotel rooms and perfectly equiped. Dinner is served as BBQ and it is very tasty. Breakfast is offered with fresh fruits. Once you participate to the Safari you are guided perfectly and you also get a nice bush-breakfast. I can recommend the accommodation for a stay of 2-3 days and in combination with a pre-booked Safari. ##### Chr.K. Staff shift supervisor was much more experience and guest oriented than the Guest Relations manager. I briefly saw the camp manager and there was no sincerity. She was as the elusive leopard. Tent was lovely and spotless. I booked my safari through the camp. The nighttime (afternoon) safari was my favourite. Much smaller area to cover and fewer cars than in the morning. We saw two leopards. One having a nap and another trying to get some dinner. Lots of other stuff to see, elephants, crocodiles. Buffalo, Spotted Deer, Eagles, the list goes on. Nettes Ambiente mit Lagerfeuer, BBQ Grill und Natur pur! Es gibt Teetime & ein Willkmensgetränk. Leider besteht keine Möglichkeit in die Stadt zu kommen da die TukTuks nicht auf dem schlammigen Weg bis zum Camp fahren. Dadurch entsteht eine Art Monopol was bei Lunch & Dinner mit für dieses Land überzogen Preisen ausgenutzt wird. Das Camp bietet Safari Touren an. Die Ganztagestour (200 Dollar 6x18Uhr) ist wesentlich billiger, aber bei Ankuft wird erzählt dass man doch bitte die zwei Touren (5:30-11 & 14:30-18uhr jeweils 125 Dollar) buchen soll, das wäre besser.... (um nochmal einen zusätzlichen Lunch zu verkaufen???). Ist allerdings nicht so da der Weg vom Camp zurm Nationalpark jeweils 45-60min. dauert und man diese Zeit verliert... Das Serviceteam hat sich um alles gekümmert und war super nett. Aber am Ende blieb beinuns ein fader Beigeschmack und wir fühlten uns leicht abgezogt. Vriendelijk personeel die willen dat je je goed voelt maar dit komt soms wel wat opdringerig over. Wij hadden een luxe tent geboekt, maar vergis je niet dit is geen luxe. Het is echt back to basic (zonder wifi) de tenten zijn bovendien erg verouderd met overal kleine gaatjes tot gevolg waardoor spinnen en insecten onvermijdbaar zijn. De tenten zijn ook zeer krap en de “badkamer” moet dringend vernieuwd worden, wij hebben ons hier niet willen douchen omdat deze te vies waren. Prijs kwaliteit vinden wij dit niet oké. De safaries vonden we wel goed met een aangename jeep en gids. ##### M. When the team learned of this, they wanted to do Wilpattu (sister camp) ... and they succeeded. We did a full day safari with superb driver and guide. Food was excellent. Room was tent luxury. Clean, comfortable, out with nature and lovely views of the stars. The camp manager went out of his way to interact with guests. Highly recommend Big Game Camp! The food is fabulous and included a silver service dinner with a bonfire under the stars. Definitely recommend full board it's excellent value! It's best to book your safari before arrival though as we didn't and missed out on getting a guide. Not that it seemed to matter, we saw so many animals and we were privileged to see a leopard drinking from a watering hole right beside us. The staff are wonderful and can't do enough for you. Was a great stay, with fantastic attentive staff who welcomed us, even though we arrived quite late (around 8pm). Would highly recommend this to couples, friends + families looking to visit the National Park. We stayed only for 1 night, but think its more than enough if you do one afternoon and one morning safari tour.
