Beware, this property has sold and is not currently trading as a B&B, despite last minute indicating the booking was confirmed. We arrived on the booked date for check in only to discover the owner had sold & was packing up the house to relocate. Thankfully the host, who was extremely apologetic, provided us with a recommendation to the ‘Bunyip’ close by, which was an amazing stay & is highly recommended!! The weekend was salvaged & thoroughly enjoyed! 😄

Sarah was an excellent host, attentive and informative. The house was beautifully furnished to provide great historical ambience. The cooked breakfast was delicious.

Wiss House has a lovely tranquil feel about it. You feel it the moment you step foot inside the picket fence! It has charm and serenity stamped all over it. It is a beautiful house & B & B. The hostess is gracious, warm & friendly. I loved being there and would stay again in a heartbeat 💗

A great experience, the historical home was very warming with amazing rooms, staff was very welcoming. Will return if in the area again, ideal for anyone wanting peace and quietness.
Located within walking distance to the shops and the Royal Hotel, Wiss house is a great place to stay. Your hostess Sara is a charming lady who makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in the front door. Sara is also a great cook who doesn't cut corners on the breakfast. She keeps this big home in spotless condition, and shares her knowledge on the history of the 110 year old Queenslander. My wife and I loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic weekend away. The town of Kalbar is a little gem, one hour from the Gateway Motorway.
This place is truely amazing. The service and attention to detail excellent. If you are looking for something a little bit different, out of the way and seeped in history this is your place to relax.

Beautiful old house. Well preserved.
Sara is friendly and easy and the house is very original with period furnishings. Good breakfast too. Only let down by a poor shared bathroom. Expensive compared to other country B&Bs we stayed in but perhaps that's the going rate in that area.

Thankyou for your review Bill, much appreciated. There is an ensuited room which is available for those who choose it. As far as rates go we are on average $115 below our nearest competitor and we do specials and discounted rates last minute which you can look out for. Kind regards Sara

Thankyou Harry and Pam for your review and great comments on our hospitality and good food.Due to our Heritage listing not all rooms have ensuites but are available. I appreciate your review, all the best. Kind regards Sara
We only have a very short stay, however Wiss House was wonderful, I loved the Old Queensland charm and history of the house, and the peaceful setting. Our host was amazing and very accommodating to our needs. My only complaint was that our rooms small window above the internal door did not have a blind and we had the light from the hallway near the turn to the bath and Toilet coming into the room. Other wise it is a piece of Queensland history and well worth our stay.

Thankyou Sean and Carly for your great review and for bringing the light to my attention. I have now fixed this with colored glass film. Much appreciated to get constructive feedback. Kind regards Sara
The house is spectacular, the interior decorating compliments the period of the house and the staff were initially reasonably friendly. Once in the room for several hours I experienced my first respiratory distress in over 20 years (I thought I had left it behind in adolescents), I had to leave the house in a hurry at 2am, once out of the house my symptoms alleviated. Overall my wife and I spent almost $400 to spend 12 hours there and receive one meal. Feigned compassion from the owner met her previous communications on being driven by ensuring everyone paid up!

I am very confused by your comments. I remember receiving a note left saying thankyou, it was lovely but had to leave due to illness. I called that day to see if you were ok (yes compassionate) and there was no discussion about refunds. Had there been l would have explained our policy. The explanation you gave me for being ill was that you had left your ventolin puffer at home. I myself suffer from asthma and the only time it occurs here is when l mow the lawns from the fumes. To suggest that somehow the room was to blame is unfounded and a misconception.. The rooms are spotless and free of dust and chemicals. I steam mop the floor of the room you were in and take great pride in my cleanliness. May l suggest that there may have been an environmental or emotional trigger for your attack which is common. I do note it was in April when many trees are blossoming in South East Qld. My compassion was real and not feigned, l did not have to call you at all as l had your credit card details for payment.Sincerely Sara
