We had a great stay. The place is very clean and the beds are comfortable. The dock was fun to swim from and fish. We really enjoyed our week on Long Lake.
We enjoyed our stay at this cute little cabin on the lake. Everything we needed was provided and check-in and check-out was easy. Our favorite place to hang out was on the decks. Our Grandchildren loved swimming and paddle boating around the lake and we loved watching the busy turtles, fish and birds. Gary and Joy were very accommodating and quick to respond to any inqueries.
Very relaxing stay, loved our time on the deck. There was very little boat traffic on the lake and usually Pontoon boats. House shopping is very stressful so being able to come back to the cottage and relax by the water was a great way to spend the evening. Thanks Gary and hope to be back this fall.
Great being close to the lake and a very nice neighborhood. Well described.
AC worked well. Nice view of lake and great deck area. Enjoyed use of canoe and paddle boat.
Wish beds were just a bit nicer but good time.
The cottage was very clean, which was much appreciated! The grandkids loved to use the paddleboat to go over to the sandbar and swim, which was a perfect depth to swim and lake bottom was all sand. They also spent much time jumping off the dock and swimming there, although the lake bottom is a bit more mucky there. The 2 kayaks were a lot of fun for kids and adults as well. Fire pit and chairs were excellent, as was the charcoal grill (was too hot to cook inside!). All in all a great, fun week!
The house was very clean. Great fishing off the pier, steps away from the door. Nice elevated patio. Quiet. Easy to access. Short trip to Hastings, which is a pleasant step back in time. Several good restaurants downtown. Plenty of shopping. Walmart close for supplies. Will return.
This cottage has a wonderful deck and dock. So much outdoor seating! We appreciated the kayaks and canoe, with plenty of life jackets. The steps off the deck were steep. We liked the grassy yard for bean bags and games.
The beds were adequate (some better than others). There was a great stock of towels. The kitchen was well stocked but did not have a lot of silverware.
The lower level has low ceilings (which made showers for the over 6 ft interesting).
We appreciated the firepit and the air conditioning! The owner is great to communicate with and was flexible with our family members coming and going.
We brought our boat and the lake is great for skiing and tubing.
Overall a great place to relax and spend time with family.
We stayed for 5 nights with our family and had an awesome time. Our grandsons loved the fishing, paddle boat and canoe. Swimming was easy as you could walk right into the water. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return!
We had three generations together and it was a wonderful time. This location was clean and comfortable. It was well supplied as listed. Great communication with the owner. The check in and out were easy.
Great place to relax and enjoy the lake.Perfect setting view. The property owner was very nice and responsive when we asked questions through text. Will recomendet to friends and family!
Check in was very easy, the renter let us check in a little early, house was clean and tidy, plenty of room to relax, nice view of the lake, canoe, kayaks, and a paddle boat to use. This would have been a perfect stay if there was internet service and extra throw blankets to use. I will double check when booking any rental now for internet service.
My 90 year old mom, 2 of my granddaughters and I stayed a week at this cozy cottage. (My mom didn't care for all the steps but we knew there were some to get to the cottage.) It was great to have 2 bathrooms. The deck was amazing, plenty of seating. The girls loved the kayaks, canoe, and paddleboat. The paddleboat was fun! We had a great week despite thunderstorms one night and I ended up with an extra grandchild in bed with me. It was a great place to relax and spend the week!
The property was as describef by others; beautiful drive in, secluded and surprisingly quiet for a holiday on a lake. It is quite the climb down to the house (for us old ladies!) but well worth it. We'll be adding this location to our future list of accommodations. Hosts were easy to deal with, very accomodating and we enjoyed talking with them.
This property was comfortable for 4 adults and a 9 month old. Enjoyed sunrises on the pier, campfire, cooking on the clean grill (charcoal and lighter fluid provided), canoe and paddle boat rides and swimming at the sandbar.
The two box fans were great for moving the air on the 3 90 degree plus days. Thankful we brought extension cords to help with fan placement.
Would return!
The house was pretty nice, I do feel the lighting in the front and the back of the house could be much better. We also did not find out about the bathroom towels not being included until our welcome email. Unfortunately I didn’t pay enough attention to that and we ended up without bathroom towels. I do think that should be on the original listing so you were prepared. Otherwise the lake is beautiful and we had a very nice time
Part of the week was with son and his family including 2 granddaughters, 5 and 7 years old. Second half of week was with female relatives. Plenty of room for the 5 or 6 of us. Loved the upper deck for meals, and lower deck to fish and check out the lake. we used the fire pit a couple of nights and were happy to have firewood and kindling available. Kitchen was well equiped. Nice to have charcoal grill to use. Very quiet area. great beds Plenty of parking.
About 9 miles to get to Hastings. TuJax Tavern in Delton is a dive but the food is fantastic!! Kitchen opens at 4 pm.
Be aware that tv reception is limited (only 1 local channel) and cell service is inconsistent- primarily depends on your service provider (t mobile worked well)
EV charging is limited in Hastings. 2 level 2 chargers however, 1 at consumers energy service center was not working as it had wifi issues. Finally charged at Gun Lake Casino about 25 miles away.
Definitely recommend staying at this cottage!!
My daughter and I stayed at the cabin for a week. We had an awesome relaxing time. The place was just as described. Driving on Dogwood was like being up north. The views from the cabin and on the dock were spectacular. The cabin was very well stocked. We cooked for the entire time there and we were never in need of anything. If you get the chance to stay on Long Lake we definitely recommend this place.
Cute cottage nestled on a pretty lake. Within 30 minutes to Kalamazoo or Grand Rapids. Beautiful car museum, aviation museum and lots of breweries in the area. Good communication with the owners, overall a very pleasant stay.
My husband and I have 3 boys (ages 7,6, and 2). We have been looking for a family vacation spot where we could return year after year and we found it!! From the moment we walked in the door, it felt like home. The house was immaculate and well stocked with everything we needed plus lots of extras!! We cooked our own meals the entire week we stayed and really appreciated the well stocked kitchen. Our boys stayed up late every night playing hide and seek, fishing, eating s'mores by the water, and catching/chasing fish through the sandy swim area around the dock. We loved taking the canoe and paddle boat over to the sand bar, which is directly in front of the cottage. The water was warm and the people on the lake were so friendly!! The best part was meeting our gracious hosts when they stopped by midweek to help me get rid of the trash we accumulated. Their brief visit made me love this place even more. When we went to leave our kids asked if we could PLEASE come back soon. We can't wait to plan a winter getaway to experience the awesome ice fishing and to return this very same week next year before school starts. Thank you for your hospitality!
We rented a boat and loved the deck, dock and lake! Even if we hadn't rented a pontoon the paddle boat and canoe were great to go to the sandbar. Fishing off the dock was great, we caught lots of little blue gills. Our family made a lot of great memories here!
There were some issues that would seem easy to fix and would have greatly improved our stay The house is rustic and old which was fine and expected. They should not say that this place has bedding provided. Some beds didn't even have pillows, only foam stuffed in pillow cases. The beds with pillows the pillows were obviously over 20 years old. The bedding on the bunk beds were an old duvet cover split in two and just a thin sheet, not enough to keep someone warm. The kitchen knives were wooden and so old they were falling apart they were dangerous to use. Somethings were very clean, like the oven but the kitchen sink and freezer were filthy.
This cabin on the lake was a great vacation for my grandchildren who have never experienced this living. The cabin is roomier than the pictures show. The owner was very prompt when needed. They are the nicest people you will ever meet. The back deck is peaceful and relaxing. Will definitely recommend and give them 5 stars.
Check in was easy! The house was exactly as described. Very peaceful and relaxing! The lake was busy on the weekend but I felt I was the only one there during the week! The back deck has beautiful views. It was great to just kick back and relax. I’m excited to stay again next summer!
I chose the 3 stars for the accuracy of the listing only because the listing does not do the property justice. The place is better than the listing! My family and I enjoyed this property very much! Only a couple of suggestions for the property (These are strictly my own needs) a newer coffee maker and a couple of more updated photos. Thank you for letting us stay!
