The bedroom and living room are separated by sliding french doors instead of the traditional closed rooms. This allows the condo to open up into one large space. A great benefit to this layout is that the AC works much more effectively in cooling the condo. AIR CONDITIONING UPDATE - January 2026 In the late fall of 2025, the central air conditioning system at Hale Kona Kai was replaced. The HVAC equipment that services the individual condo was also inspected, with and any and all required maintenance/repairs completed. The air conditioning is in peak condition at this time. Find your beach with Kona Beach Properties! This beautifully upgraded oceanfront property offers unobstructed views of the Kona coastline. The ocean is teeming with life! Sit on your lanai and watch spinning dolphins year around and humpback breaching just offshore during the winter and spring months. Turtles and eels find plenty of sustenance in the tide pools. Wake up and fall asleep to the calming sound of the ocean. Featured amenities include wraparound lanai, central AC for those extra warm nights and high speed wifi, a necessity for "working" remotely where Zoom conference calls may be necessary. This unit comes equipped with beach chairs, towels, umbrella, and a small cooler for guests use. It may or may not have some snorkel gear that was left by previous guests. We do not provide snorkel gear. Non-fitting snorkel gear takes all the fun out of snorkeling, so it is best to rent your equipment while you are here. Hale Kona Kai is a special complex right on the ocean in the heart of Kona. It is a short walk to anything you need; restaurants, entertainment, shopping and beaches. An elevator provides easy access. The property boasts a heated salt water pool and BBQ area. Laundry rooms are available on each floor. Oceanfront property disclaimer: this unit could not get any closer to the ocean. It makes for great, unobstructed ocean views along with a bird's eye view of the reef below. However, during the winter in Hawaii, we get large swells and wind off the water. Your view may be impaired by saltwater dried onto the glass. During high swells and wind and or rain, it may not be comfortable to sit on the lanai. Please take this information into consideration when booking. If you feel these issues may adversely impact your stay, please call us. We may have other properties not quite so close to the water that may better see your needs. The island has many resort-quality golf courses, the closest one within 5 miles. There are plenty of places to snorkel from shore, or take a snorkeling cruise. One of our favorite parts hands down was being lulled to sleep by the beautiful sound of the waves, and the gorgeous view of them from our balcony. We also really appreciated how the property had extra amenities available (in case you forgot anything) like laundry detergent pods, toothbrush and toothpaste, dish soap, a sponge, and even beach chairs and beach towels! We did our laundry in the laundry room on the condo's 4th floor before we left too, and it was only 4 to do a load of wash and dry! The view was amazing, and the one magnet on the fridge was for Black Rock Pizza, we tried it and it ended up being the best pizza on the island. You could walk to lots of restaurants, the farmer's market, and the beach next door. We saw dolphins swim by while we had our coffee on the balcony. The sunsets were amazing. The unit is on the top floor and the layout makes it feel larger. It is equipped with everything you need. Condo was very well laid out and had everything we needed. Walking distance to drinks or restaurants, right on the water, and on a nice quiet side street. The best part was the manager. Condo was a little outdated - appliances and furniture - but overall clean and comfortable, and the location could not be beat!Condo was very clean and well appointed - plenty of towels and blankets, snorkel gear, tote bags, coolers, chairs, etc. view is amazing, many cruise ships all week long - but be prepared for sea-spray! You will not be disappointed! Great location and beautiful unit. We saw dolphins and whales off the lanai. Amazing sunsets every night. My only one suggestion would be is to have curtains on the bedroom doors for a bit of privacy and blocking out light when someone is using living room. But it all still worked. And if you plan to do laundry bring some quarters. We had a really hard time finding anyone on a weekend give us change to wash clothes. Wish we had longer in this beautiful place. The location is perfect, and this particular condo meets all the requirements for 5 stars. We have stayed at Hale Kona Kai many times over the past 15 years. It was nice to see the AC had been upgraded. We agree with the listing statement that the bedroom and living room are separated by sliding french doors instead of the traditional closed rooms. This allows the condo to open up into one large space. A great benefit to this layout is that the AC works much more effectively in keeping the whole condo cool. I appreciate the accuracy of the listing, and the picture of the cruise ship out front. It shows they are not trying to hide anything. The cruise ship is only in port on Wednesdays, and it is far enough away that it doesn't even obstruct the magnificent view. I wish they included a picture of the tidepools in front of the lanai. It brings endless entertainment watching the river of yellow tang come in each morning and the eels, and turtles feeding throughout the day. A perfect place to have a slow morning or watch the beutiful sunsets. The only thing I would have wanted included, is some plastic bags, saran wrap and foil. Everything else was provided including coffee. They also provided nice welcome packs of shampoo, conditioner, soap, dish soap etc.. ##### Coleen B.
