We recently stayed at Aviator Suites in Juneau and, overall, had a decent experience. Since the hotel had literally opened the day before our stay, we expected there might be a few growing pains, and there certainly were.
There was still evidence of the grand opening rush throughout the property, including construction equipment outside, painter’s tape on hallway walls, a non-functioning ice machine, and a laundry room that appeared unfinished and disorganized. The lobby carried a strong new-paint smell, and the toilet in our room had a noticeable rust-colored appearance that was a bit off-putting.
That said, there were positives. Check-in was smooth enough, and the daytime staff were pleasant, professional, and helpful. Most importantly, our room was clean overall, and the bed was very comfortable, which made for a good night’s sleep after a long day of travel.
With some time to work through the opening-day kinks, this property has potential. For now, I’d consider it a promising new hotel that is still finding its footing.
