Place could easily be a 7 or 8 if staff put in effort.
Room was advertised as having air-conditioning, a fan, shampoo and shower gel. It had none of those and at times got very hot.
Each day I had to ask for more towels and on one occasion I had to ration toilet paper because they had none.
Housekeeping is available but only when requested, and even then they did not restock towels or toilet roll.
Staff were often not available so I could not exit the compound to get things, often having to go behind the unlocked management desk to unlock the doors.
Upon leaving, the hotel would not hold my luggage for an hour without charging me 100R. This is the first time a hotel or guesthouse has charged me for holding luggage
Area is not safe and on one night I heard gunshots, other nights it was shouting. It was often noisy in the hallway as well from staff late at night.
Good bits were the bed was very comfy, the room relatively clean and spacious, and there was a laundry service for R50. There is a shop across the road.
