I was there, the booking was confirmed, but nobody was there. In the dark in the dangerous Johannesburg I was alone with 2 kids. The guesthouse was closed. Somebody in front of the house told me that the owner is somewhere and the phone number does not work. I am sure you know how I (mother) felt with 2 kids in the darkness in Johannesburg, sitting with the car in an empty road, not knowing where to go. The confirmed booking was not canceled!

When we arrived the property was closed. Two phone numbers that were associated with this hotel were "out of service". With the help of our driver and the hotel's neighbor we were able to see some person who came from the back of the hotel (most likely he was security guard). The person told us the the property is closed because they don't have water and all reservations are canceled (two or three days before our arrival). This person kept saying that he is not a manager and cannot do anything. Contacting Expedia support (via chat) didn't give us any help, because they also were not able to reach the hotel personnel.

Arum is a Gift from Gift

The place was awesome. You could tell a lot of attention and thought was put into the details of how to make this comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Gift was a great host. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.

Arum place - our place- the place

Ligger i Mellvi, ett lugnt område utanför centrum. Kände inget obehag vid vistelse på kvällar. Värden fixade trots det transport till/från restauranger. Fantastiskt serviceminded värd som fixade allt från Tonicwatter till förslag på rundturer. Helt klart återkomma om vi passerar Johannesburg igen. Fin miljö, pool och en fin hemma hos känsla.

Wonderful hosts and great rooms

We stayed here for two separate stays on our trip to South Africa- the first time the room was stunning - huge and with beautiful new bath and shower in the room, plus free sweets and drinks. The second time was a slightly less nice room but still huge, well stocked and very comfortable. Breakfasts were excellent and the hosts were extremely kind offering to drive us down to local restaurants in the evening and pick us up. The resident pets are also an absolute delight to hang out with!

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Arum Place Guest House. The room was beautifully appointed and the breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed spending sometime lounging by the pool as well. We would definitely return and highly recommend!

Great stay!

Had a lovely time at Arum Place. Gladys and David were wonderful hosts; they even drove us to dinner each night. Our room was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay here again.

Exceeded our expectations. Very friendly hosts, excellent service., you want for nothing. Tea & coffee amply stocked, water, milk and juice in the fridge. Private entrance can come and go as you please. Tastefully decorated. Highly recommended.

The room was smaller than expected and rather squashed and the continuous tick of the electric fence all night was disturbing, otherwise not bad.
