2 mins to Smuggs, Fireplace
Tucked into the woods just steps from Smugglers’ Notch Resort and the Long Trail, Vintage Chalet is a warm and intimate retreat made for unwinding together. It’s the kind of place where the days are active, but the evenings are slow, boots by the door, fire glowing, forest all around.
Inside, Vintage blends rustic Vermont charm with modern comfort. A spiral staircase leads to a cozy loft bedroom, tucked under the beams, while a second bedroom on the main floor offers flexibility and comfort. The layout gives the chalet a tucked-away, treehouse feel that guests love.
After a day on the mountain or a long walk on the trail, settle in by the fireplace with a glass of wine, a good book, or your favorite person (and pup). The quiet, the woodsy setting, and the warm glow make it easy to truly disconnect.
What you'll love - Intimate, cozy cabin atmosphere - Fireplace lit evenings - Peaceful, wooded, streamside setting - Close enough to Smugglers’ Notch that getting there is effortless - Dog-friendly, because adventures are better together
Inside the chalet - Two bedrooms: one loft bedroom and one main-floor bedroom - Fully equipped kitchen for cooking in or lingering over breakfast - Comfortable living space with fireplace - Fresh linens, towels, and Wi-Fi provided
Good to know The loft bedroom is accessed by a spiral staircase, which is not suitable for children 8 and under. Most dogs are not comfortable using spiral stairs, so pups typically relax on the main floor while their humans sleep upstairs — a setup many guests find works perfectly.
If you’re looking for a romantic mountain escape that feels cozy, quiet, and a little bit magical — with skiing, hiking, and fresh air right outside your door — Vintage Chalet is waiting.
Part of the Notch Lodges collection, Vintage Chalet sits alongside four nearby sister chalets, all within two miles of Smugglers’ Notch Resort — ideal for couples traveling with friends who want their own quiet space at the end of the day.
Jeffersonville village is just 5 miles away for dining, art galleries, and canoe rentals. From mid-October to mid-May, the scenic Notch road to Stowe is closed—the alternate drive is about 50 minutes.
Whether you're here for skiing, hiking, ziplining, or simply reconnecting with nature, Vintage Chalet offers the perfect home base. Reach out if you’d like to book multiple chalets nearby!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Check in went very smoothly. Very relaxing and peaceful location. Great place to stay for hiking in Smugglers Notch and exploring surrounding areas.
Maude, the host was fabulous. The chalet is so cozy and inviting. A great place to chill and hang by the gas fireplace. Take a break on the deck, with your coffee listening to the bubbling stream out back. The chalet was fully equipped and very clean. Would definitely book again!!
The chalet was just the right size for our family of 4. It had tons of charm but all the modern conveniences. Quieter than staying at the resort and so convenient to skiing. We loved our stay and would definitely go back again.

We chose this property because of the wonderful reviews. It didn't disappoint. We loved the quiet area & the gas fireplace. Felt like home, very comfortable & had everything we needed.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience staying in the Vintage Chalet. Everything was so clean and the air conditioning made is comfortable during the heat wave we had to deal with. Maude is extremely welcoming and friendly. We couldn’t have picked a better place to stay.
We stayed for a week in July of ‘23 to do some hiking and sightseeing. The cabin’s location was perfect for hiking in Smuggler’s Notch and eating/entertainment in Stowe. Maude was extremely responsive and accommodating to all our needs. The cabin was clean and well appointed. Would recommend to friends!
My son and I stayed over the MLK holiday weekend and went skiing at Smuggler’s Notch. Perfect location and set up! We were a 2 minute drive to the lodge/parking lot. The resort village is easily accessible. And the house itself is great! It has plenty of privacy and very well suited for skiing. The owners are very responsive and hospitable. We recommend it to any couple or small family!
Just perfect! The quaintness of the location, with the woods and sound of water babbling behind the chalet made us forget everything! Sitting outside having morning coffee from either deck was the perfect start to the day! A very clean, inviting home away from home! Hope to return again sometime in the fall or winter!
Falling asleep to the bubbling water flowing behind the chalet was awesome. Very clean, too, my only recommendation would be to take care of the cobwebs above the sofa and in the crevasses. The kitchen was well-equipped but could use maybe some Tupperware for food storage / packing lunches for day trips for those that fly in with only carryons. Host was extremely responsive when we needed trash picked up. Would definitely stay again!
This cute little red cottage was absolutely perfect! Location was so private and yet perfect to get around from. The stream in the back yard served as the best sound machine of pure nature and relaxation. Morning coffee listening to it was the best start to the day! We enjoyed disc golf just down the road only a couple of minutes. Checked out the new brewery Lot 6. We wanted privacy and this was everything we wanted! Maude was super helpful and responsive! I highly recommend this cottage for a restful romantic getaway!
Very cute and has everything you need . Location to smugs is great, but the road to stowe thru the notch is closed all winter so its 50 min to there. Bummer. It rained and froze so the rock sidewalk was super icy and the spiral stairs are tight, so be careful if anyone has mobility issues. The owner was responsive and the place was warm, clean and ready when we got there late. The river roaring in the backyard was pretty cool and the layout inside was really well-done. Perfect place to feel like a Vermonter!
A truly lovely experience. The property was tucked away and very quiet. The kitchen was well equipped, the couch and mattress were supportive and comfy, and the Internet was pretty decent. We enjoyed the fireplace, and a few moments of bliss on the back porch before a giant spider built a web right in the door frame. It might be nice to have a TV in the primary bedroom and curtains on the front and back porch doors. And though they are very serviceable the bedside tables were wobbly... But that's not the biggest deal.
This little cabin is tucked away into a small road off of Route 108. It's very cute and provided two great sized bedrooms, one in a loft area. It was a ton of space for two people and we were able to work here with the Internet.
The fireplace was great and it, combined with a space heater, provided plenty of warmth even in the Winter. The kitchen had plenty of pots and pans to cook with, the shower is pretty nice with plenty of hot water, and both beds are really comfortable.
The location is great, just a few miles from Jeffersonville and across 108 from Smuggler's Notch. We went in the Winter, so we had to drive around about 40 minutes to get to Stowe. But it was a nice pleasant drive and we stopped for coffee at Vermont Artisan Coffee & Tea each time (which we highly recommend).
As all the reviews state, this place is beyond cute. And it is comfortable and located in a gorgeous nook in the woods with a babbling brook right behind the house. But the customer service I received with this rental was beyond even high expectations. I could not get the gas fireplace remote to work properly; the landlord was replying to my texts in real time with more detailed instructions, and then just a few minutes later, at 7:00 in the evening on a Friday night (!) a service man stopped by to assist with my difficulties (which turned out to be a dead battery). Amazing!!!
Enjoyed the chalet in the mountains, Maude is very accommodating and the house was stocked well for our time spent there. We would return again and loved listening to the stream behind us.
We used this as a home base for Stowe, Lake Champlain, and the Smugglers Notch area. It was the perfect little chalet and had all the amenities we needed. We loved the creek below and spent afternoons after our day trips there to cool down. We were a family of four and it was a perfect space for us.
