About this property

2BR Riverside Suite @ Smuggs w/ Saunas & Hot Tub

  • Welcome to our two-bedroom basement apartment at Uncommon Accommodations at Smugglers’ Notch, a boutique riverside resort featuring luxury mirror cabins, The Mountain House and shared spa amenities in Vermont’s beautiful Green Mountains.

IMPORTANT: This is a private basement apartment located directly beneath The Mountain House, a separate three-bedroom vacation rental. The upstairs home may be occupied by other guests during your stay. Both accommodations have their own private entrances and completely separate indoor living spaces, but you may hear footsteps, voices and other normal household activity from above.

    YOUR PRIVATE APARTMENT

The apartment is designed to be just as much fun to come home to as the mountains are to explore. With two comfortable bedrooms, a private infrared sauna, vintage soaking tub and plenty of entertainment, it's a welcoming retreat after a day of Vermont adventures.

The living area features comfortable seating, a full-size Ms. Pac-Man arcade and a dedicated ping pong table, perfect for a little friendly competition.

Unwind in your own two-person infrared sauna, exclusively available to apartment guests. The bathroom features a vintage clawfoot soaking tub with an overhead rain-style shower. Please note that there is no separate walk-in shower.

The fully equipped kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, gas range, oven, dishwasher, cookware and everything you need to prepare meals during your stay.

Outside, enjoy your own private picnic area, firepit and grill, surrounded by the Vermont woods.

    THE UNCOMMON ACCOMMODATIONS EXPERIENCE

The apartment is part of Uncommon Accommodations at Smugglers’ Notch, an intimate collection of distinctive accommodations sharing beautiful grounds along the Brewster River.

In addition to your private apartment and outdoor amenities, you'll have access to the property's shared riverside hot tub, barrel sauna, cold plunge, outdoor shower, stargazing lounge, hammock grove and nature trails.

Explore the Brewster River, relax beside the water or cross our suspension footbridge to discover the other side of the property and access the neighboring Smugglers’ Notch Resort trail system.

Guests also have access to The Outpost, our central guest hub offering complimentary laundry facilities and adventure-planning resources, and The Gear Shed, featuring ski and bike storage and a premium gear dryer for boots, gloves and other outdoor equipment.

These shared amenities create the experience of a small mountain resort, while your private sauna, games and outdoor gathering space make the apartment a unique retreat of its own.

    EXPLORE SMUGGLERS’ NOTCH

Uncommon Accommodations is conveniently located just off Notch Road, minutes from Smugglers’ Notch Resort and the charming village of Jeffersonville.

Smugglers’ Notch Resort offers skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking and year-round outdoor activities. Our suspension footbridge provides direct access to the neighboring resort trail system, allowing guests to explore hiking and biking trails without getting in the car.

In warmer months, discover waterfalls, swimming holes, scenic drives and beautiful mountain trails. Fall brings spectacular foliage throughout the Green Mountains, while winter offers skiing, snowshoeing and snowy mountain scenery.

Lot 6 Brewing and Full Send Pizza are right next door and within easy walking distance, perfect for enjoying local craft beer and pizza without getting back in the car.

Jeffersonville is just a few minutes away for cafés, restaurants, shops and everyday essentials. Stowe and Mount Mansfield offer even more opportunities for exploring northern Vermont.

Whether you're here for skiing, hiking, mountain biking or a relaxing getaway, the apartment offers a fun and comfortable home base for your adventures.

    GOOD TO KNOW

This is a basement apartment within a two-unit building, not a standalone cabin or entire-house rental. The three-bedroom home directly above is rented separately and may be occupied during your stay.

Your apartment has its own private entrance, bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and living areas. There are no shared interior spaces between the two units. However, normal household sounds may travel between floors, and we ask guests to be considerate of one another.

As a lower-level apartment, natural light and views differ from those of the main house.

The apartment's infrared sauna, picnic area, firepit and grill are private to your reservation. The riverside hot tub, barrel sauna and other resort amenities are shared with guests staying in The Mountain House and neighboring mirror cabins.

The property is surrounded by forest and the Brewster River. Wildlife, insects, mud, snow, ice and changing river conditions are part of the natural setting. Please use caution near the water and on the suspension bridge, especially during wet or icy weather.

A car is recommended for exploring the area, as public transportation and rideshare services are limited. During winter, snow tires are strongly recommended. Route 108 through Smugglers’ Notch toward Stowe closes seasonally, requiring a longer alternate driving route that can take approximately an hour.

Quiet hours begin at 11:00 PM. Parties, events and unauthorized guests are not permitted. Please be especially mindful of guests staying directly above the apartment.

    YOUR STAY, YOUR PACE

Our local team is nearby and available by message or phone if you need assistance, recommendations or help with the shared amenities. Otherwise, we'll give you the space and privacy to enjoy your stay at your own pace.

Spend your days exploring the mountains, unwind in your private sauna, challenge someone to a game of Ms. Pac-Man and end the evening beside your own firepit.

Welcome to your mountain getaway at Uncommon Accommodations at Smugglers’ Notch.

Kid Friendly get away

VERY kid friendly, very kind host, so unique. LOTS of outdoor places to explore. Loved how clean it was, which I'm very picky about.

Tyler was very responsive and polite with any needs we had. Although it is a basement apartment, it was very cozy and had everything we needed. We especially liked how it was located on a dead end road that had a fire pit overlooking the woods and a river nearby. The shower in the tub was difficult to use, but we really liked the outdoor shower. The hot tub overlooked the river and my children loved it. We would stay here again. Thanks Tyler!

Overall, we had a great visit to the Smuggs area and the unit was fun and acceptable for our needs, albeit some info about the unit was left off the listing or under communicated... ProsLocation! This rental is practically at the base of Smuggs, with easy access to both the mountain and disc golf. Walking distance to a pizza joint and nice brewery. 30 mins to Stowe and 1 hr. from BurlingtonThe unit is full of games of all kinds for kids and family fun!The available amenities were great (hot tub and saunas)The beds were comfortable and spacious, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook a few mealsConsThe bulk of the property was under construction (septic?) and not communicated. Several of the amenities were unavailable (backyard, bulk of picnic/firepit area, outdoor shower) due to the sameBASEMENT apartment, below a larger rental, and the two families above had no respect for those below (loud floor) stomping from 6 am to 11 pmThe bath tub-shower combo, although unique, was very difficult for anyone over 5'10" to use, and the advertised outdoor shower was not available to supplement as others had commented. Floor will be wet and require cleanup after each useThe lack of the outdoor shower also led to the hot tub being unusable after the aforementioned families used on the second night (Green, slimy, and filled with mud/mulch) I would recommend this unit to a large family who can rent the full house as a whole and enjoy the facilities without issue!
