"The house was so beautiful! Very clean, had all the pots and pans needed, great view of the New River and so fun being able to play in the water! The kids absolutely loved it. It was also really nice being able to bring our dog- great weekend for the whole family. We would def book this house again!"

"Really enjoyed the Cabin, it was just what we were looking for, a chance to get away from everything. The cabin was nice, rustic, but had all the modern needs, ie Internet, TV if wanted, full stove and cookware. We were looking for solitude and silence, plenty of both. Read some and cooked some meals. Took some walks along the creek and sat on the porch and watched nature. Not hearing the traffic was a grand part of the stay, not since our childhoods have we enjoyed such silence. Maybe too silent!The cabin is close enough to West Jefferson, Boone and Blowing Rock NC to enjoy short trips and do some shopping dining, or have a drink at one of the local breweries, Coffee breweries included. The drive is steep and terrain a little touch, so be prepared, heavy rains can cause driving issues without 4WD. The Decor of the cabin was over the top with Bigfoot and all the little Knick-Knack things in and around the cabin were a treat. It is not a 5 star hotel, it is a "cabin in the wood." It is rustic and quaint. If bugs bother you, mostly outside, this is not your place. The beautiful Cardinal that would land on the railing on the porch was treat to watch. Deer were abundant on the property. Saw no bear, or bigfoot, but know they are around.It is a great place to get back to nature, with a state park across the road from the property and many other mountainous sites in the area. All said, the place is showing its age, but was just what we were looking for!"

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay at rivers edge was amazing. We had space for all of the kiddos. House was clean. Hottub was clean. Check in was very easy. We will definitely be back next year."

Mountain Retreat in West Jefferson

"Two of the three Bathroom showers had spiders in the corners. The big tub had lint and dust in corners. The king size bed in basement was just two twins pushed together, which would have been fine if there was a mattress topper that joined them. But they were different heights. The kitchen was very clean and well stocked with supplies and things needed for cooking. The amount of tables and seating for mealtime was great for our large family. Clean towels and wash cloths were good - enough for our number of people! Overall, vwry nice place."
