10/10 Excellent
"Great room with a balcony and beautiful view of the mountains. Wonderful restaurant choices. Huge spread for breakfast. The pool sauna and hot tubs were perfect after a day of hiking the beautiful mountains surrounding this destination. Parking is however extremely limited we had to pay for parking as there wasnt enough room in their lot"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Izvoru Bârzii?
The best area to stay in Izvoru Bârzii is generally around the main road, DN67, which runs directly through the village.

This central stretch of Izvoru Bârzii offers the most convenience for travellers. Along this road, you'll find the local shops, small eateries, and the village's cultural centre. It's a straightforward layout, making it easy to navigate and access local amenities. The proximity to the road also means easier access to transportation for exploring the wider Mehedinți County.

For couples looking for a tranquil escape, staying in a guesthouse slightly off the main road but still within a short walk of DN67 provides a good balance. These locations often offer more privacy and views of the surrounding countryside, while still being close enough to the village's offerings. It's ideal for enjoying the quiet rural setting and taking leisurely strolls.

Families travelling with children will appreciate accommodation options directly on or very close to DN67. This ensures easy access to any necessary supplies from the local shops and quick connections for day trips to nearby natural attractions, such as the waterfalls or hiking trails in the wider area.
When is the best time to go to Izvoru Bârzii?
The best time to go to Izvoru Bârzii is during the late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) months.

These periods offer the most pleasant weather for exploring the natural beauty of the Mehedinți County, with comfortable temperatures ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and visiting local attractions. You'll avoid the intense heat of summer and the colder, sometimes snowy, conditions of winter.

For those keen on outdoor adventures, late spring is particularly good as the landscape is lush and green, and wildflowers are in bloom. It's a great time for exploring the nearby Iron Gates Natural Park and its various trails. The rivers and waterfalls are also at their most impressive after the spring rains.

Early autumn appeals to travellers looking for a more tranquil experience with beautiful autumnal colours.
