Overall, we had a pleasant stay at River Rock Resort. The biggest advantage of this property is its excellent location. It is very close to Vancouver International Airport and has direct access to the SkyTrain, making it incredibly convenient for exploring Vancouver and Richmond without needing a car.
The hotel itself was clean, well maintained, and the staff were friendly, courteous, and welcoming throughout our stay.
The only area where we experienced some frustration was the response time from housekeeping. During the evenings, service seemed quite slow. We requested additional towels, and even after waiting for over an hour, we had to call again before they were finally delivered.
My biggest concern, however, is the mandatory resort fee of approximately CAD $23 per day, which is charged in addition to the room rate. While Expedia does mention that this fee is payable at the property, I don’t believe the amenities justify the additional cost. The fee mainly covers access to the swimming pool and fitness centre, both of which are fairly average and comparable to what many hotels include at no extra charge. Calling it a “resort fee” feels misleading when the facilities are quite basic. If you’re staying for several days, these fees add up quickly and significantly increase the overall cost of the stay.
Overall, I would recommend the hotel for its excellent location, cleanliness, and friendly staff, but I do hope they reconsider taking the resort fee .
