Sehr großzügiges Haus mit toller Aussicht auf die Bucht von Galway und den Burron
We had a wonderful time here and were particularly impressed by the beautiful view and the front conservatory. John is always there if there are any questions and the tours to the west were breathtaking.
John the host is on hand for check in and lives nearby for anything else that’s needed. Lovely clean house. Great size and lots of parking. We even had sea views!
We enjoyed our stay and the house was perfect for our whole family and in a perfect location on top of it. We had an issue with our vehicle and John, the property manager, was so helpful. We would absolutely stay here again!

Wonderful holiday home
John is a perfect host and very attentive. As he is living next door he can fix things in no time.
The house is spacious, very clean and provides enough room for rainy days with a group. The four bathrooms help you with that. The lovely beach An tra mhór is very close and so is the shop. Galway is a 25 minute drive and the westcoast at a nice day trip easily reached.
Although the house fits seven you need to take note that the two twin beds are not too wide. So they cozy -)
We spent a very pleasant and restful week at Pooreen House. It was a perfect location for a family holiday. The house was warm, welcoming, spacious and immaculate, an ideal home from home.
John the host was friendly, warm and informative about the local area. There are plenty of local well stocked shops within a 3 mile radius and Galway City is only a 35 minute drive away. The sun room to the front of the property was everyone's favourite with beautiful views of Galway bay. We really enjoyed our stay at Pooreen House and I whole heartedly recommend it.

Superb bungalow in first class condition
All excellent! The owner was very helpful and pleasant. Very neat and tidy bungalow in first class condition. Lovely location with views over Galway bay. Short walk to nearest beach and many other beaches to explore and a short drive into Galway. Could not ask for a better holiday location or nicer bungalow! And we had good weather!
Pooreen House was the perfect place to stay for our family to join in a long postponed family reunion. The house was beautiful and comfortable. John was very helpful and responded immediately to any questions. We sat in the sitting room every evening overlooking a spectacular view of Galway Bay and Clare every evening. We would love to return someday!!
Très belle résidence avec une belle vue sur la mer. Très bien située pour aller visiter les environs de Galaway et le Connermara. Accueil sympathique sur place. Nous sommes très satisfaits de notre séjour !

Great house and location, highly recommended
Very spacious, warm, spotless, well equiped house in a great location. Our party was comprised of 4 adults and 4 children. John the host was lovely and very welcoming and totally unobtrusive. He gave us a tour of the house and explained how everything worked. No issues with anything. Overall a very pleasant stay, would highly recommend the house (especially if children staying as the pool room and separate tv upstairs is brilliant) and we will be back.

Avoid this agency (like the plague)
We have never, ever complained about a holiday cottage in multiple years, but we did about this one. It was like renting a cottage in about 1975, and the heating didn’t work. Electricity was to be charged for at an uneconomic rate. Agency absolutely obnoxious. Avoid at all costs.

Beautiful home and views
John is a very welcoming owner and his home is beautiful and warm. The house is well equipped and the views from the sunroom are gorgeous. There is plenty of room for a large family and is close to the quaint village of Spiddal. They have great pubs and a nice beach. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking to rent a home. Thank you again to John for allowing my family to stay in his home so we could focus on having a great vacation.
Wir waren 7 Personen und waren alle sehr zufrieden.

Spotless family-friendly home with large grounds and terrific sea view.
Our three-generation family of ten booked Pooreen House for two weeks in August, 2017. We couldn’t have been more pleased!
The house sits on a slight rise above the surrounding hillside, with an expansive view across Galway Bay to the Aran Islands, the Burren, and the County Clare coast as far south as the cliffs of Moher. The owner met us on arrival to give a tour of the house, demonstrating appliances, electrical and heating systems. Throughout our stay, he was kind and attentive, though unobtrusive.
First impressions: house and furnishings immaculate, and impeccably maintained. Large windows in all rooms provided tremendous natural light, while heavy drapes in bedrooms can be drawn for privacy and darkness. The large kitchen is a joy to work in, flooded with light from north and west windows. The dining room seated us all easily; bath, shower and toilet facilities were ample. The adjacent sitting room with built-ins, TV, comfy recliners and electric fireplace afforded a snug reading or viewing spot. High chair, playpen and a protective gate to the stairs accommodated the children. The upstairs – three open rooms with couches, TV and billiards table illuminated by skylight windows – was a godsend as a play area for the little ones, and a movie and hurling-match theater for their parents. But our favorite space was the five-sided, cathedral-ceilinged solarium with huge windows facing east, south and west. What views, what light, what openness to the constant breeze!
Outside, lawns and plantings were neat and carefully trimmed. Walls, hedges and gates enclosed a large, safe play area for the kids. Gas grille, table and chairs enable open-air cooking and dining. A five minute walk down the quiet, single-track lane took us to the coast road. Across the coast road and five minutes down another lane, we arrived at a gently sloping, secluded sandy beach with tide pools among rock outcroppings. Perfect for the children. The village of Spiddal is a 35-minute walk up the coast road, with sidewalk all the way. Galway city is an easy 12-miles east by car or bus, while Connemara opens to the west and north.
Overall, a wonderful stay. Thank you.
