Hey! You’ve made it to The Summit House! (PSST - this cabin is my personal favorite of the four on our mountain! Ashley - Property Manager) Here you can escape the crowds and relax in this 1,100 square foot cabin, situated on the summit of a ridge line, deep in the US National Forest. There are breathtaking views from every single room, including the shower! At night, the skies are great for stargazing and counting the shooting stars. 💫 Sounds awesome, right? But, please read the description in its entirety to ensure this special and unique place is for you!
Because of its location, not only will you avoid extra town taxes and fees upon booking, but The Summit House also provides an incredible retreat from hustle and bustle of the big city. You get the best of both worlds! Gorgeous views bring relaxation from the spacious King master bedroom as well as the second Queen bedroom. The large, open living/dining area offers a space for quality time with friends and family while enjoying a fresh beverage. A beautiful bar off the kitchen will seat five where you can enjoy a meal cooked in the all stainless steel kitchen or the outdoor propane grill. If you prefer meals outside, there will be furniture on on the 2-level deck so you can take in the views. There is something to do for everyone from the adventurous hiker to the avid bird watcher or even the bookworm. Come relax at The Summit House for your next getaway!
The Summit House is entirely off-grid. We produce our own power, water (well), hot water and have our own septic system. We are 100% green and still have all the luxuries of home! Because we are green; however, we do have to choose which luxuries we would like to have. In our efforts to conserve energy, we have decided to opt out of bath and hot tubs in all of our mountain cabins. We also have have a filter, but the well water has iron in it, so please bring bottled water if this makes you uncomfortable.
→ Bedroom 1: King master bedroom with sliding door leading to deck → Bedroom 2: Queen bedroom on opposite side of master with a Twin futon located outside the bedroom → Bathroom 1: Full bathroom with walk-in shower
🚨 We realize that this is where most like to stop reading, but we ask that you please scroll a little more to review the important information for the drive in and more! 🚨
►✨ DRIVE IN / ACCESS ✨ The mountain cabins sit 5 miles off of Highway 259 and is accessed by US Forest Service roads. It’s a beautiful drive and we oftentimes see white tail deer, turkey, and birds of prey including red tail hawks and various owls!
You will need a vehicle with some clearance as well as a bit of driving skill to make it in. 4WD and/or AWD is NOT necessary, but helpful.
► We strongly suggest: → a small, medium or large SUV → any size truck → a crossover ► We strongly advise against: → a minivan → a sedan or coupe
The first 2 miles of the drive are easy and you can drive 25 mph. The remaining 3 miles are slower and requires some attention. You will cross 4 or 5 small creeks on the way in. Water is rarely more than 4 inches deep. The roads are rocky and bumpy, but will not ever be muddy.
There are also grades up to 12% on gravel roads. This means you will travel up the mountain until you have reached our mountain top.
Don't have a vehicle that meets the requirements, but still want to visit? We have partnered with Marc at Red Dirt Car Service and have several happy guests that have already used this transportation service! Please send an inquiry for more information.
►✨ TECHNOLOGY & CELL SERVICE ✨ The Summit House now has Starlink and there is cell phone service! Verizon and AT&T work best, while Sprint and T-Mobile are limited. There are no TVs or cable. You will need to bring your own entertainment and pre-download your movies on your own device before arriving. Disclaimer: Bear Creek Vacations is not responsible for reliability of internet or outages from service provider. WiFi is provided as a convenience only and is not integral to the use the property. No refund of payments shall be given for outages, content, lack of content, speed, access problems, lack of knowledge of use or personal preference regarding services.
►✨ BOATS, TRAILERS & ATVs, oh my! ✨ → Boats & Trailers: Please do not try to bring a boat up to any of our cabins on the mountain! You will likely regret it, we promise! 😉 All jokes aside, Beavers Bend Marina has slips that you can rent for your stay and it’s super convenient to leave your boat in the water. They can also provide a place to leave your trailer! → ATVs: You can ride straight into the Ouachita National Forest from our property! Please check with the US Forest Service for all laws regarding ATV riding. It’s possible for a group of riders to rack up several thousand dollars in fines. Bear Creek Vacations will not be held responsible for any tickets, violations or accidents.
►✨ GRILL & FIRE ✨ The grill is propane and directly wired into the house. Instead of a propane tank, you will see a timer. There is a fire pit. Please bring matches. Our cleaning service no longer provides firewood.
►✨ MAX OCCUPANCY ✨ The Summit House sleeps 5. Due to fire marshal regulations and insurance purposes, the number of guests per cabin is strictly enforced. Additionally, our off-grid systems cannot sustain more than the max number of guests.
►✨ PUP-FRIENDLY ✨ Maximum of 2 dogs allowed. No cats. Pet Fee: $150 per stay. Please review house rules and pet policy prior to bringing your pets to avoid additional charges.

The cabin was so peaceful and the views were breathtaking. We enjoyed our stay for my husband’s birthday and would definitely visit again in the future.
We stayed for the weekend and honestly, it was amazing. From the drive in to the cabin, with all the deer along the way, everything was just what we needed for a peaceful little getaway. The view was perfect. There was a little blue bird perched on the treetops everyday singing for hours that we loved. It stormed on our last night, and watching the thunder and lightning from the bedroom was such a cool view. We will be back!
We love the Summit House! Mostly for its location far away from any crowds and its amazing views, but also for its great layout and huge deck. This cabin has everything you need for a great getaway!
Beautiful, clean and impressive cabins. There was a wonderful view. We spent an amazing 4 days there and loved it. The directions were exact and we had no trouble finding the cabins.
This was our 4th stay with Bear Creek Vacation rentals. First two times at the Cliff House, then the "Phoenix Rising". These were fantastic .. but this most recent stay at The Summit was the best yet. Clean, spacious and super comfortable. Beautiful big deck to enjoy the view during the day and the stars at night. We will definitely be back toThe Summit!
I enjoyed this place so much. It is definitely out of this world. It is so peaceful and quiet. The view is amazinggggg! Both at night and during the day. I did not want to leave. Check in information and directions were super easy to follow as well. Thanks so much to the owners for sharing this experience with us.
We had the best weekend staying in Broken Bow! This property was beautiful, had amazing views, and was such a good getaway! We loved watching the sunrise, sunsets, and especially the moon rise.
They were so hospitable and easy to work with! We’ll definitely be back!
Glad we got back again to take in those views. My pics still can’t do justice to being there. Just as last time, we especially enjoyed the views, the quiet, and walking the trails nearby. Hope to be back again and soon.
This the second time we have stayed at this property and it has exceeded our expectations every time! To get to the property from the highway is 5 miles of beautiful landscape with a stream winding on both sides of the road. We saw several deer on the way to the cabin which was a joy along with all the mountains. The cabin is beautiful with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and lake! We can’t wait to visit again!
Zero problems. Excellent cabin living quarters. Kitchen fully integrated with living room and the superb views. An absolutely perfect, off-the-grid experience!
The cabin location was absolutely beautifully! Pictures don’t do it justice. We loved the seclusion and peacefulness. The kitchen was well stocked (a plus for us bc we like cooking). We really enjoyed riding some of the trails in the area in our jeep. We would definitely love to come back in the fall for the beautiful views!
My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights and had an amazing time. The views were beautiful at all times of the day and night; we loved watching the sun rise over the mountains and the lake. We saw plenty of deer and other wildlife near the property which was fun. Very secluded and well stocked property, we had everything we needed! Highly recommended!
We stayed here for our 30th anniversary. We’re locals and have stayed in cabins in the area many times. This cabin, hands down, is the best! We could not get enough of that view!!!
Would recommend to anyone, locals or out of towners as a way to fully experience the beauty of southeast Oklahoma.
There are no words to express how amazing the view is from the cabin. It’s absolutely amazing. The road up to the cabin through the woods is just beautiful itself. The cabin was super nice as well, very clean. I’m definitely booking again 🤗
Perfect place for a romantic getaway. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the sun rise over the mountains and the night sky full of stars. We enjoyed countless hours around the campfire. Inside the cabin was very cozy with a lot of natural light coming through every window.
The pictures are 100% accurate! Beautiful secluded spot with an awesome view. Our church group when out there to unplug and enjoy the Lord and His creation. Wonderful spot
The additional directions provided ensured we arrived without getting lost and our stock SUV made it up without a problem. We discovered a small issue our first morning but I messaged the owners and they were very quick to resolve it. We loved the views, the location, and had a great time. Would absolutely recommend this place.
We loved our stay at The Summit house! The view is amazing. We saw wildlife on every trip in and out. Unfortunately we did not see the bear they had seen a couple of weeks prior but we did look for it. We will definitely recommend to everyone and will be back with family to enjoy !
