"I recently stayed for one night, the stay was booked last minute due to the brush fire in Maui on Sept 26, 2026. The check-in process was quick and smooth, we were able to find our room easily with the map they provided. The room was clean and was sufficient for a night’s stay. The pillows were comfortable but the bed was the softest/most sunken that I’ve experienced at a hotel as an avid traveller. I felt the breakfast was very disappointing, everything was cold and there was no staff in the building. I dropped by and there was no cutlery but also no one in the kitchen to assist. I went back to my room and returned half an hour later with my spouse and there was still no staff around. Some other guests looked around the kitchen and were able to locate some utensils to share. The property is lovely but also feels abandoned or vacant in some ways. There was no one around, the lobby was silent, no people, no music."

"This was a wonderful stay in Upcountry! We truly feel our first visit to Maui would not have been complete without spending some time in Upcountry. Super cool local vibes. This place was a great location for adventures in the area like the Haleakala sunrise and farm tours. Pukalani and Makawao are great! The owners do have a couple of small dogs that liked to bark when we arrived/left, so something to keep in mind if this would bother you, but we didn’t mind the greeting. All in all, a great stop in Maui!"

"If you are looking for a wonderful unique Maui experience , stay at Hanks lovely cottage. It is a large open air cottage that allows you to feel as though you are living in the lushness of outdoors but the comfort of a private home. Large 2 sided lanai, outdoor shower ( has hot water) cool fans thru out and gardens with beautiful flowers of every kind. Also has a large white rabbit that visits, geckos, and incredible chorus of frogs and crickets at night. Hank is there if you need him. He lives next door but does not bother at all if you don’t. This was a slice of heaven!!! We hope to visit again!!"

"Jermo was truly an incredible host who went above and beyond to make sure we were completely safe and accounted for during Hurricane Lala. The house was one of the safest places to be during the hurricane, our power never went out and the house itself was super sturdy and could withstand the high velocity winds. The bathrooms were really nice and updated and clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with absolutely everything you’d need. We definitely hope to come back again sometime!"

"Our stay at The Banyon Tree B&B was amazing. We had nine in our party, everyone had their own space and multiple wonderful spaces to gather together, particularly at the amazing pool and hot tub with incredible views of Maui and the water. The grounds are spectacular with gorgeous plantings everywhere. The host, Heleina, was so kind and responsive to any issue that came up. The spaces were clean, comfortable and welcoming. The house is situated in the hills of Makawao, away from the touristy areas with only a short drive to downtown Makawao or Paia for a little shopping and dining, which cannot be beat. I would highly recommend the Banyon B&B."
