Great location
We all enjoyed what the holiday house had to offer. Close to the water edge - for boating was an added bonus. This home is a comfort home with basic styling.

10/10 stay, actually a nice clean place
When we arrived we didn’t realise how big the block was, perfect for a small boat and suv/4wd to drive in and turn around, was happy with it straight away, after 3 days I’ve gotta say I’ll be coming back and I’ll be recommending plough cottage to friends and family, great neighbours and atmosphere, so close to the water and boat ramp. Bruce is a great bloke and made the check in easy as. Everything you need there apart from sheets for the beds really.

Great place to stay at a reasonable price!
The owner of the property Bruce is a good man. We stayed there for two nights in winter and the heater kept us warm. A great place for family to stay at a reasonable price. Overall my family had nice experience. If your mob provider is not Telstra, just a sim card for short term so that you have access to mob network to be able to use GPS to get around in that rural area.

Fitted our purpose
It's old and a bit shabby, but had everything we needed for a ski holiday. Gas fire was great, beds and pillows comfortable, plenty of hot water.

The Cottage is old and shabby, I like it that way where I can keep the price low so Guests can enjoy more time doing other exciting things in the area on a budget. Slowly improving the place with New Hot water system in, new split system to be installed end of August. New Couch (as many has requested), etc. Hope to see you in the future. Bruce

Lovely place to live as a family, kids friendly environment. My daughter enjoyed drawing using colours and the games for kids. We felt like we were at home. It was a very nice place to stay for holidays. We cooked our own good and enjoyed lovely views around the house. Loved the hills and the lake, it felt so relaxing and peaceful. Only heating was not really working good but we used a spare heater to make it more warmer. I recommend this Property to those who go with a family

Nice and cozy, host was great with all instructions and upon arrival a welcome grocery pack with all the trimmings. Had a wonderful time up at Mt Buller will be returning soon.

Cosy older style home close to the water, only a short walk with a lovely safe swimming spot. Lovely host who gave clear instructions for directions. House had everything we needed and had a wonderful weekend with friends.

Property is old, but comfortable. Had everything we needed. Just needed to take linen and towels. We had a lovely relaxing time, Hubby caught some fish and we had our 10 month pup with us which was great to be able to take with us. Yard was not fully dog proof but veranda was. Jamison had a great off leash walk down by the rivers

Simple country cabin
Had a great stay in this beautiful area, so much to do, lake less than 5 minute walk from the house, short drive to the Mansfield maze (highly recommended for kids and gardeners) and zoo. Great winery to visit with impressive views at Dellatite winery and beautiful Jamieson. Not so much at Howqua, but perfect spot to reach other local highlights, area is so beautiful in autumn. The cabin is basic but warm and had everything we needed. Fire out the back was a highlight for the kids, helpful neighbours pointed out which wood to use. Noisy water pumps may be disturbing for light sleepers, but didn't phase us. Overall a nice stay, but increased prices for over long weekend made it feel a bit expensive for a simple cabin.

Perfect
We had the best stay at Bruce’s property. It’s simple and lived in, which gives it such a homely, cosy feel we adored. It’s also impeccably clean, and has everything you need. It’s a quick but lovely 15 mins drive to towns and boat ramps, but it’s also secluded enough to make you really feel like ‘you’re away’. Bruce is also great to communicate with, with all the info and tips we could need. Sitting on that deck at sunrise or sunset is just amazing. We’ll be back.

Lovely property and great stay
My dogs and I had a great time staying at Ploughing Cottage. It was very comfortable and homey. You could walk to the lake within 5 mins and centrally located. Thank you Bruce and look forward to seeing you soon

our trip started there , with the air conditioner freezing up , and was not working properly , so a very hot stay with just the fan going on the air conditioner , The furniture Lounge Suite and chairs , have no support strapping and are very uncomfortable , outdoor furniture is old and you sink into it , very poor , the lounge fly screen had holes in it , and we got invaded by bugs at night , also we had cockroaches and silver fish in the house , i sat on a kitchen chair and the leg struts pulled out , if my partner had not spotted it , it would have collapsed , so in all very unhappy , not worth the money i paid !! From the cleaner: That is really sad. Yes, things are older but that's the style of the house. The fly screen door has no holes it’s steel, As for the chair, if you lean on them they may break there wooden chairs, I haven't tested the air con but I know it works as when we have arrived after guests it's been dripping outside like it's supposed too and cool inside. The cottage is Covid clean all areas checked and cleaned. The previous guests trashed your place damaging lamps, bunk ladder, doors. The outdoor furniture still good especially outside. You cater too much for these people and have no respect when you finally get guests in after 2 years of no income. Mark, Somethings are right the lounge inside needs replacing to a smaller unit x 2. The dining table temporarily as the last guests damaged the other over Christmas. Didn’t know about the security fly wire door. It’s a new steel door. Just a pointer if your weekend or stay is going to be hot (weather) best to leave aircon low from start to end with blinds closed. The house is well insulated so will keep house cool. Cannot expect to cool a hot house every time you turn it on. Don’t know why it would freeze?? Bruce

Cosy little house for family and pets
Loved the fact that the house was setup to entertain the kids, with the board games and tv in their bedroom. House was cosy enough to hold 2 adults, 4 kids and 2 small dogs. Facilities provided was great, especially for things I had forgotten at home. The use of the BBQ and covered area made dinner easy. We love the area where the house is. Will definitely come back.

Out of lockdown weekend
Looking for something affordable and short notice on Melbourne cup weekend had us booked in. Having spent time in howqua many years back it was as I expected. Easy walk to the lake edge for a walk in the morning or a quiet beer in the evening watching the sunset.

We had a great stay for a weekend at the snow. Takes about 1 hr to get to Buller. House was like a proper old skool holiday house. Has everything you need and comfortable for a family get away. Host was brilliant. Recommended

A Cozy Cottage
This place perfectly suited our needs with two sets of bunk beds for our four boys. The board games and well-stocked PVR proved useful as well. From here we visited the Mansfield Zoo and High Country maze, both of which are close by. It's only 15 minutes to Mansfield and adds even less extra time to a trip to Mount Buller. We'd happily stay here again if in the area.

This is a really lovely little town!! Nice walk along the bank of the lake. It’s close enough to Mansfield, but far enough for plenty of peace and quiet! The view of the stars at night was breathtaking!! The cabin is pretty small and very basic. It was the middle of winter and the electric blankets were really welcome!! The heater got a pretty hard workout too!

Convenient and comfortable
We have stayed in Howqua on two occasions. Once in the one of the Howqua Caravan Park cabins and once in Plough Cottage. Plough Cottage offers good value residence at a great location with more privacy and space for a BBQ on the verandah. Certainly Plough comes up as preffered.

The place might be a dump like most people have indicated, but being at a cheaper price you can enjoy life out rather spending all your money on accomodation

My brother lives at Howqua Inlet but his house is too small for all of us to stay. Being able to rent a house nearby was very convienent. 1 suggestion - when we stayed it was around 35 degrees and the Air conditioner couldn't handle it. Also the overhead fan in the master bedroon was very noisy. Apart from that, the house had everything we needed - especially the outdoor fridge/freezer next to the BBQ. I hope we can stay there again

Lovely location for a family holiday.
Beautiful location close to Mt Buller and waterways. My family had a fantastic week here and the owner had a nice little food hamper surprise waiting which was very useful to take juice boxes on short one day trips to the zoo and fishing. Great communication from the owner Bruce. He also supplied movies - a god send to keep kids amused during down time. The local wildlife come to feed on the property which was a nice little treat for my son, feeding seeds to peacocks and hand feeding parrots. The house was extensively supplied with everything needed to enjoy a home-away-from-home holiday. Bruce was very helpful in enabling us to extend our time booked to enjoy even longer in his holiday home. Many thanks, will definitely rebook in the near future!!!

Comfy, home away from home.
Very comfy cottage, nothing fancy but very well stocked. Really appreciated Bruce's generous basket of goodies he left us. Loved sitting on the deck in the late afternoon, feeding the birds and having a cuppa. Everything was so green and the wildflowers were out. Was greeted by 5 peacocks early one morning while taking the dogs for a walk. Special!
