The property also contains a wide variety of botanical plants and fruiting bushes and trees which attract all kinds of birds and other wildlife.
The air conditioned villa is designed to allow ultimate viewing off the natural beauty of the surroundings. The vaulted living and dining rooms have large windows facing one of the greatest river views in belize. The modern kitchen has a 10 foot panorama window which over looks a very large mahogany tree and several fruit bering trees which attract hundreds of birds to them daily. We have a wide variety of birds visiting the property all the time. The local River guides sometimes use our lot to point out various trees and wildlife. If your a fisherman there is no better place to stay you can fish off the dock or take a canoe and fish any where on the river or in Anderson lagoon farther down River. We also have two bikes for your use.

We had a perfect stay at White Orchid! The Sittee River is stunningly beautiful and Hopkins is a friendly town with everything we could have needed and more. Can’t wait to return! Hopefully, we can stay at this villa again!
Great stay. Our hosts were helpful and the caretakers were there as well to ensure things went well. We were able to cook easily and enjoyed evenings relaxing with a view of the river. Birds were amazing. Will come again
The white orchid villa was an amazing place to spend our 10 days in Belize. The location is quiet and calm, letting you enjoy nature to the fullest! We saw and heard many many birds. The screen porch lets you enjoy being outside, while keeping the bugs away!
The house was very clean, very well equipped for cooking, and the beds comfortable.
Groundskeeper was friendly and helpful, property manager was great also. Tours are easily coordinated from Hopkins, and they will pick you up at the property even.
Definitely recommend this property for a peaceful, calm, relaxing get away!
Thank you Rupa for sharing your home with us!!
There was an initial issue but it was promptly and appropriately resolved by the owner. The house and property are beautiful. Everything we could possibly need was available. Thank you for a lovely vacation!
Great house at the bank of the river. Just 5 minutes drive from Hopkins and restaurants. Two comfortable beds (king and queen); large kitchen with all equipment you’ll need. Airco units in all three rooms. Check in is extremely easy, with the care takers living at the gate. Swimming in the river is at own risk, since there are stories on crocodile(s), but we never saw one (our stay was in July)Highly recommended

River Dream
The house was amazing!!!!! The river view awesome and the house itself was everything we could have asked for!!!!!! Antonio was great and very helpful!!! The caretaker was a good as he could have been always on top of everything. He worked at keeping the grounds amazing!!! Thanks to all for an awesome vacation experience we loved every minute of it!!!!!!
We had a great stay at Rupa’s Jungle Compound on the Sittee River over Christmas. Rupa even arranged to have a Christmas tree set up for our two year old daughter. The property is as advertised right on the river. We were hoping to swim in the river, but there are crocodiles. It’s pretty murky, so you can’t really tell what lurks beneath the surface. Enrique and his wife, the Mayan caretakers, are very amicable. Enrique took me fishing on the canoe. Many fish were caught. His wife made a traditional Mayan fish soup for us on Christmas Eve. The property is a ways out of town on really bumpy roads. A vehicle with high clearance is recommended. We had a Hyundai sedan and it was painful to drive. No internet, but we knew that going in. If you have T Mobile you’ll get 256k speeds for data and texting, which worked fine. The dogs barked every night. It didn’t wake our daughter, so it was a non issue for us. Mosquitos were pretty bad, but we were prepared for them. Overall we had a great time at the compound.
The property was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. Fished right off the dock. 24 year old daughter was not crazy about the fact there was no WIFI. I found it a plus. Unplug and unwind.
We LOVED our stay in Hopkins, and this property was fantastic.
Hopkins is what you imagine a Belize village to be - multicultural, beautiful, tropical. It is NOT developed and touristy like Placencia - here, you can eat at a touristy location or a local restaurant - you can enjoy the local outdoor market on the weekend - and you can also access tour operators.
This house was a very short drive from Hopkins, and perfectly situated on the Sittee River. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, the property was safe, and the house was a lovely airy, bright home.
You ARE in a relatively remote, tropical setting, and if you have the right expectations going in, you'll have a great time. There ARE bugs, there is no wifi, cell reception is spotty at best. There are plenty of family games, a well stocked kitchen, a friendly caretaker, and the beauty of birds, iguanas and the jungle right outside your door.
This is the perfect base-camp for self-catered day trips. Don't miss the hike up Antelope Falls (in Bocawina Mayflower Park - 15 minute drive) - the view and pool you can jump in at the top are spectacular. Also don't miss a leisurely canoe trip up or down the Sittee River, which is right outside your door!
The caretaker was friendly and accommodating, communication with the host was prompt and thorough. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
This house was perfect. We loved that we were a little out from Hopkins (about 10 min.) and on the river. The house was a great size for 5 adults. The owners, property managers and care taker on site were all very kind and helpful. We mostly interacted with Domingo and Dana. Dana offers a cooking service and we hired her for a couple meals. It was the best decision we made, it was delicious! We loved canoeing in the river and enjoying the beautiful views around the property .

Beautiful, spacious home with a gorgeous setting!
We were absolutely thrilled with White Orchid Villa! The setting is absolutely beautiful, and the home is so spacious. There was nothing lacking - we had what we needed to cook, there was plenty of comfortable seating, beds were great, a/c worked very well, and having a washer and dryer was a big plus. We appreciated having a kind caretaker on site, as well as friendly, but watchful dogs on the grounds - I never felt unsafe, and I was a little nervous when we booked about that since it's remote. Even though the property is remote, it really wasn't that long of a drive to get to the village. We went to Mayflower/Bocawina and hiked to Antelope Falls one day, then took the Sittee River Tour that evening up the river, and then into Anderson's lagoon to swim in the bioluminescent water - so cool! We took a trip to Plancencia Village and hung out at the Cozy Corner on the beach - great food and beach chairs. Stopped at the Lucky Lobster on our return for wings and the lobster flatbread - yum! Had a meal at Chef Rob's for New Year's Eve - wonderful food and ambiance. Spent our last day hanging out at the house, reading in the hammocks and canoeing, and eating coconuts from the property. I was a little bit concerned about not having WiFi while we stayed there, but it ended up being a great thing! Be sure to read the guestbook - there are some fun tips in there that we didn't see until our last day!

Beautiful Belize Villa
This is a beautiful home located on the Sittee River. Very comfortable, well stocked with plenty of space for 5. Elvira, the care taker was very attentive to any request we had. Rupa, the owner, responded promptly to all questions I had before the trip. We enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife in the surrounding area. This is our 6th trip to Central America and the 1st time we have seen toucans. Probably saw at least 15 in the surrounding area over our 5 day stay. Be sure to bring binoculars. Make sure you have a vehicle for the drive in as it is a bit remote and rough -- no golfcarts or cars. 4WD only. Portions of the road to the property and to the marina were flooded while we where there but it was not a problem for our Jeep Liberty. Only con I had was my kids couldn't walk to town, ( 1.5-2 miles away down a muddy dirt road). In drier weather it might have been more doable. We had to drive ourselves and them anywhere they wanted to go. Recommend T & C Restaurant, Curve Bar at the Marina, Siomare Restaurant and Eds Fast food cart at the entrance to Hopkins. Also recommend See More Adventures. My kids went snorkeling off shore at Glover's Reef. Highlight of their trip! Very friendly and more reasonably priced than the other companies. If you need cash and the ATM is not working, (in my case for 4 days) Happy's Grocery store will give you cash back when you make a purchase. Anthony the property manager informed me of this and it was nice to know.

Perfect home away from home.
It was a real treat staying at this home. I have been to Belize a few times before this trip (Dec. 2016) and have found that most accomodations are lacking, but this was not the case here. The home was modern, clean, and well stocked. There were plenty of cups, glasses, plates, bottle openers, silverware, pens, and even coffee. The view of the river from the porch is stunning. The home is located away from the village so there is no noise from traffic or other activity. The air conditioners worked very well.
This home is a hidden gem and I am very glad I found it. My wife and I stayed here with another couple and when the nightly cost of the home is split in half, the cost of our stay was less than most hotel rooms with a fraction of the space and convienences.

Beautiful house and surroundings, Sittee River is just a few steps out the back door.
House was very comfortable and clean. Linens were clean and bathrooms were very tidy and well supplied with towels. Lovely deck and riverfront view.!! I would say the description of the house was quite accurate. We utilized the kitchen (which was well equipped) for several big dinners with our fresh fish and local veggies and fruit. Everything was working very well, no problems with the AC or ceiling fans, plenty of hot water. Washer and dryer worked perfect. Groundskeeper lived on the property and was very friendly and helpful. Property manager was available to give us numerous names and suggestions for diving operators and fishing guides. Towards the end of our stay a minor hurricane made landfall very close to the house. We felt very safe. The owner had contacted us as well as the property manager. The owner was concerned about our safety and stayed in contact with us. The storm passed overnight and there was no damage (concrete walls) to this very well built house. The village of Hopkins is just a couple of miles down the road and the marina is not more than a mile away. We explored the river with the canoe that was provided with the house. Great place to get away from it all. Very friendly folks in Hopkins and some really good local food if you take the time to check it out. Huge variety of activities to do in this area ranging from flyfishing, diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, hikes in nature preserves, cave trips, waterfalls, trips to ruins, etc. We always rent a car at the main airport and really enjoy the beautiful scenery that Belize has to offer. If you are not comfortable renting a car I am sure that you could arrange day trips with locals for a reasonable fee. Without a doubt would stay here again and recommend to others. Belizean Jungle Vacation
The property was exactly as described. The kitchen had all the amenities, I don't think that we were lacking for anything. It was really nice to have the washer and dryer, especially after being caught in a rainstorm on the nearby mountain. The lizards in the tree across the river were great. Taking the canoe out for a ride is not to be missed. The caretaker also did an excellent job. The property is close enough to Hopkins for picking up groceries or going out for dinner. We especially enjoyed the Fiesta Restaurant in Hopkins, where the service was excellent and the food even better. Don't miss going to the Mayflower Bocawina National Park, which has awesome waterfalls. Another must is a trip to Red Bank to see the scarlet mcaws, if you are there between Jan and March - that was an awesome experience. The house was a great base for an awesome vacation.
