Overall great place
The property was great. Clean. Functional. Comfy. Based on the pictures we were looking for a place a little more away from neighbors and this isn’t that. Neighbors are right close because the property is long and narrow BUT the way the yard is bordered by trees/other plant life you do get privacy. I feel like a picture of the parking area would make the house easier to find so you would know what you are looking for street side.

What a slice of heaven. We loved walking around the property, listening to the nightlife sounds, having breakfast on the deck with the geckos and the view. The hot tub was an amazing treat after a day of exploring. The hosts and their caretaker were so welcoming and provided a lovely selection of fruits and fresh flowers. We loved this place.

My family agrees, this house is a keeper for future Hawaii trips!
Exactly as listed, and more! The house gave us exactly what we needed: quiet location, beautiful grounds, expansive ocean views, a functional and equipped kitchen (including coffee bean grinder for our 100% Kona estate coffee), clean accommodations. It gave us more than what we needed: that infrared sauna (a quiet retreat on a Saturday morning), a hot tub we didn’t get to use and kick ourselves for not making the time, a sweet cat hanging around the property that we fell in love with, and an one of the kindest caretakers we’ve ever met. The summer is the best time for on-property fruit, but outside of summer there are two fantastic fruit stands within a couple of miles.

The perfect view to wake up to
This was the perfect stay on the Big Island! You can’t beat that view!!! We were worried about the location, but even though it meant a bit of a drive everywhere, it was such a peaceful place to come back to after a busy day. The house had everything we needed; beach umbrella, beach chair, boogie boards, a cooler bag, ice packs and more. The house was comfortable and had enough room for the 4 of us to spread out. The hot tub was very relaxing. Host was quick to respond to my message.

We had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful home! This home was clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our time here! The view of the ocean was beautiful especially from the deck! We thoroughly enjoyed the orchard with oranges, grapefruits, lemons and limes! The hot tub was great and very private and clean! We loved it here so much that we’ve booked another stay next year!!! The profile photo is so appropriate. Seeing the stars and the Milky Way (our) Galaxy from the hot tub is beyond words! Ask Marcel or Connie to give you a tour of their property. The various fruit and spice trees and bushes are so interesting and delicious. Please note that the 2nd washroom is downstairs en route to sauna and hot tub.

Wow.
This place is a dream. So quiet and peaceful. The drive to Hapuna beaches is only 45 minutes. Waimea is close enough. At first we weren't sure about being so remote, but now we are sure. The filtered water made life easier, the lime tree and other citrus trees, made life easier too! Beds were fine. Couch was huge, fit two adults and two children - for hanging not, not sleeping! Deck is great. Kitchen was adequate. Backyard is full of surprises.

Well equipped peaceful property
We arrived after dark and for some reason google maps was directing us further down the road, so it took us awhile to make sure we were at the right place. Suggestion to others: Look for the brown bamboo fence! The propety itself was clean and well equipped. We enjoyed the fruit that was left for us as well as picking a couple delicious oranges ourselves. There was a good size igloo cooler as well as heavy duty ice packs in the freezer for our use which definitely came in handy for our road trips. I utilized the washer and dryer just about every day to wash our beach towels so that was nice to have. The kitchen had all the essentials we needed to make coffee, fry eggs and heat up our leftovers, which we did while we enjoyed being watched by the house geckos. The mornings were glorious to start the day off with the expansive ocean view from the lanai. The house starts to feel much warmer around 9 or 10 am, so it was a good prompt to get us moving. This is a more remote property and is a decent drive for most touristy activities, but was a central location between the west and east sides of the island. We only used the hot tub and sauna a couple of times because most nights we were too exhausted to do anything but check to see if the amazing stars were out and go to bed. I kind of wish we would've left time to spend a nice evening enjoying the property more.

We really enjoyed our stay at this incredible location. The property is perfectly located to see Waipi’o Valley and to get to any of the norther areas. We ended up doing a lot of exploring around and there was some great fruit stands close but. Check out the beaches that are within a 45 min drive. Our favorite was Waialea Beach by Hapuna (there is a fee for parking and per person). It is perfect for snorkeling and has a great bathroom and showers. The property is everything it says, with a great hot tub and wonderful views. We really enjoyed eating breakfast outside with a view of the ocean. The stars at night are worth checking out too. Even on warm days, the place was perfect with windows and sliding doors open. We didn’t want for anything during our stay. The orchard with plenty of fun foods to try. The spot at the end of the property was great to sit and relax. Honokaa town was so fun to walk through with great shops. Don’t miss out on Tex Drive-In for Malasadas. Everything is open around 11am to 4pm, so plan accordingly. We loved this place and hope to visit again in the future.

Nicely appointed, quiet, and clean. A ceiling fan would have helped move the air around a little better, but the area fans in each room did the job just fine. Perfect for couples looking for a Hawaiian experience that’s more authentic than you can find in the resorts.

This place was perfect. It felt secluded and the view could not be beat. I did yoga on the deck every morning with the beautiful view of the ocean in front of me. The hot tub was wonderful to look out at the stars at night. The place is a little off the beaten path, but if you are looking for relaxation and beauty then this is the place. The town is very accessible and has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable.

As chill as it gets
I think 99% of people who choose to stay here are looking for exactly this very calming, peaceful, eco-friendly vibe. If you're not looking for that it's on you not the place, as it offers what it says it offers, very accurate description. We found the gecko's, orange kitty, occasional chicken sighting and baby pigs at the farthest point fence to be all of the entertainment we needed. No bug issues, just amazing night's sleep, deep breathes and stress relief. Thank you so much to Marcel and Gabe. We would definitely stay again.

There is a list truly as long as your leg that you will adore about the place from the gorgeous flora, the decor and frogs singing at night but if you have a personal quirk like not wanting geikos for pets, you might have to learn to deal with it, lol. The people in Honokaa themselves are so nice. The complex made it so easy to stay - laundry, hot tubs, etc. The hosts were the best. Happy vacation!

I stayed here 4 nights with my mother, my husband, and my 7 year old son. From the description we expected a sprawling property abundant with fruit ready to pick from every tree, peace and quiet and hardly anyone noticeable around. Sadly, while the house itself is comfortable, we struggled with bugs the entire stay. There were ants from the moment we arrived helping themselves to the fruit basket, and my son got terribly bitten up by mosquitoes. I noticed on the second day that the upper screens in the main living area had holes in them. Some had been covered but not all of them, so it became clear why the bugs (and geckos) seemed to come from nowhere. And as for privacy, because the caretaker stays in an RV at the bottom of the property, one feels a bit public walking to the edge of the property for the View, and the multiple vehicles in the carport when you arrive make it clear you aren't alone. The yard does have trees but it lacked the magic that I had envisioned or that I had seen at other properties boasting fruit trees in the yard. The house is quaint but one item that really should be addressed is the doors, which are antique and noisy when being opened or closed, sometimes loud enough to wake everyone else in the house. And adding to the noise is the road. While the starviewing is amazing here and it was nice to have access to a hot tub, the road noise was really disappointing. However, the house was stocked with many necessities and was convenient for traveling to Honokaa town and Waimea. We also appreciated seeing the boogie boards available for our use. And the house was definitely clean, so if that is the top priority then this home is a winner. But of true "peace and privacy" is what you want, then you might want to keep looking.

Mindful Peacefulness
This property is the perfect place to unwind and relax and enjoy the Aloha spirit. Honokaa is perfectly situated on the Hamakua Coast between Hilo and Kona side with easy trips to Waimea. The house and surrounding fruit orchard are the perfect atmosphere to take in the beauty of Hawaii Island. Looking forward to staying here again on our return trip to the Big Island.

The Honokaa property was just as described. Very lovely, peaceful and relaxing. The views are amazing. We loved eating breakfast on the deck while enjoying the ocean view. There was an amazing fruit bowl waiting for us when we arrived with fruit from the many trees on the grounds. The grounds are also lovely and well-maintained. This is a great midway location near Waimea between the crowds at Kona and Hilo which we loved. It’s close to snorkeling beaches and other locations to visit on the island. We loved the little town of Honokaa and has some nice places to eat. The local grocery store has everything you will need except poke (get that in Waimea). And amazingly the gas is cheaper in Honokaa. The written parking instructions are a little confusing but a quick call to the property manager got that sorted quickly. The hot tub on a private deck is a lovely perk. Everything was very clean and tidy when we arrived. Would definitely re-book!

Paradise retreat
Our family of 5 (with 3 kids under 8) had a wonderful stay! The only thing I was disappointed about was that we didn't have more time to spend at the house. The kids absolutely loved picking their own fruit from the orchard. My husband and I enjoyed soaking in the hot tub after a long day of hiking. The views of the ocean and the stars were amazing. I accidentally left behind an important piece of jewelry, and the on-site hosts were so helpful to search for it and mail it home to me. If we make it back to the area, we'd definitely be interested in staying here again!

Honokaa home base
For the second year, we traveled to Honoka’a to visit family. The View House was our home base. The property is serene, beautiful, warm and welcoming. It was ready on time and it was cleaned and beautifully presented. The ocean view during the day is awesome. The night sky is brilliant. As long as I have family in Honoka’a I hope I can stay in the View House.

Really enjoyed the quiet beauty of the place including a beautiful garden with fruit trees. The host are kind and generous. They were very responsive and really helped us in a lot of ways. We would certainly recommend this rental to friends and family.

Beautiful View!!
We felt like we had the entire property all to ourselves and the views of sun rising were amazing along with the star glazing at night. House is cute has a nice large outdoor space along with a hot tub and sauna. The new outdoor chairs they have for lounging are amazing!!! There is a small downtown that’s close by and is very cute to spend a few hours in. However I will say it’s a good drive to things on the island. We would pack up for the day and be gone most of it to site see. And most homes in Hawaii are not equipped with central heat and air so if you go in a month like august be prepared for the house to be warm until night fall. It’s not bad but most people are not use to it-they do have fan that can be moved around the house which helps.

Peaceful retreat at the View House
Our family of four, including myself, my husband, 10 year old son, and 18 year old daughter, had a very nice stay. We had stayed on the Kohala coast prior to our stay in Honoka’a, and it was refreshing to get away from the resort zone. The property is very serene, with a well established orchard that we enjoyed exploring. We also really enjoyed the sauna and hot tub- it was great to soak after a day adventuring and to go early morning saunas. This rental is about an hour drive to the Kohala coast, and an hour from Hilo. On our second day there we visited the Botanical Garden near Hilo- highly recommended! I would definitely stay again.

Family Memories
We loved the property and all the land for walking, and exploring the peace garden, and down to the ocean view bench and swing that the kids enjoyed. Adults took advantage of the hot tub and outdoor shower which added to our relaxation. Proximity to Honaka’a was also a plus for shopping as well as closeness of west side beaches for beach trips. All in all a very special place that is now one of our favorite vacation stays on Big Island.

Reset retreat
Our family loved our stay at the peace garden. We loved being in a place where you can watch the clouds over the ocean, hear the birds and frogs and sleep with all the windows open to feel the ocean breeze. Waking to the roosters and the ever changing sun rise for another day of big island adventure. We cooked all our own meals and packed all our own lunches and enjoyed the spa in the evening. It felt so healthy. The hosts were kind and gracious and responsive and yet we still felt like it was our own place. Looking forward to staying here again!
