Hondarribia Historic Center Holidays from £309

This is far from a 4 stars hotel. It looked better on the pictures than it is. The is no sauna/hammam/spa service available except for an offer 2 half-days a weeks… The breakfast was unavailable to us. It is irritating to pay the “ hotel price” we paid but to be ask to deal with removing the bed sheets and get the trash out. The pool is nice and it is walking distance from the beach and the downtown area with dining options.

2 night stay woke each day with multiple bites on every family member. No visible mosquitos so hoping not bed bugs???? UNCONFIRMED? Was clean enough but property needs maintenance - Cracks in sink, no holder for shower so have to hold above head, bathroom door hard to close as gets trapped by bed. Extremely basic room but big enough for our family of 4. Beds were comfortable, air con works but no coffee making facilities, no iron and had to complain as room above had children running around till 1am (but i guess this could happen anywhere)? Breakfast is basic and we decided against it after comparing the price to the produce. Parking was also HARD WORK as we had a roof box on top of our zafira. IF YOU HAVE A LARGE VEHICLE? DO NOT listen to staff re parking at the train station, this damaged our car and roofbox as well as being extremely stressful!! Parking over the bridge is fab in open air car park (Boufflers) - ignore first entrance on left (this is for members) go right to end and you can grab a ticket and park, pay easily on exit :) - it was cheaper than train station too (pay €18.20 for just under two days)! Location is a little rough, lots of tramps and young gangs around but felt safe enough as a family of 4. Over the bridge is much nicer and we recommend VictorHugo for dinner! On the positive the Location was fab for bus links to Biarritz but was extremely loud at night. Must keep windows closed. Ok for a one night stay but would not recommend for longer.

Very happy with the stay

We stayed three days and it was fine. The furnishings were basic. The property is very poorly equipped in that you need to provide your own washing up liquid, sponge, drying up towel, dishwasher tablets, loo cleaner, hand soap etc. . There is nothing to eat or drink provided by the owners - no welcome pack… first stop the supermarket. Bedding and towels are the minimum too and if I was going again, I would take my own towels. You have to pay a 500 euro deposit and clean up and remove the dirty linens when you check out. Car park is super tight, spaces are ok size but there is little space to manoeuvre. The people on the reception and by email were delightful, there is a nice swimming pool and grounds to walk around. The area is surrounded by campsites and there are a couple of casual restaurants within a short walk. Convenient for the coast path and a nice walk into the town - 30 mins plus each way.
