There is excellent sailing, fishing and bird-watching on the nature reserve immediately available. Golf, swimming-pool and beach at Sheringham (5 miles). Restaurant/pub nearby. Shop 1/3 mile. Could conceivably be chilly in winter, but the graceful sash windows fit well and for an extra charge the boiler keeps the place surprisingly cosy, especially with the free logs on the fire. Right in the quiet centre of Cley, with footpaths directly to the coast and the windmill. We were a group of six, including a toddler who loved exploring (there are stair gates for the impressive central staircase, cots and a high chair) and the house comfortably swallowed us all. A very relaxing living room and a well fitted kitchen. A bit short on bathrooms but this wasn't a big issue. Although definitely a unique and characterful property, it was let down by such details as old / mismatched bedroom furniture / poor bedside lighting / no full length mirror for the Ladies. Both the bathroom and kitchen were obviously recently refurbished, but once again, the kitchen was let down by lack of certain utensils / cookware, such as a frying pan without a lid, no pasta gauge / kitchen scales, small details but would have been useful. Possible the beds are coming to the end of their lives as we felt they were a bit soft. A washing machine would have been useful for the children's clothes but it wasn't a problem.
