Lovely Apartment
Fantastic apartment in a great location only few minutes drive from Holetown and beaches. Great communication with owner throughout process and would highly recommend for anybody wanting to visit Barbados. Use of 2 lovely pools at Sugar Hill available. Lovely balcony terrace at the apartment which was great space. Hopefully back next year!

An exceptional property in a fabulous location
Everything about the stay was precisely as advertised- thank you. The location in Sugar Hill’s pristine landscaped garden close to the Club with the Deck Restaurant and various swimming pools is ideal. An outstanding property.

Stunning Villa; Wonderful location!
This could not have been a more beautiful unit and villa grounds! The only downside is it's going to hard to top this! And then there's the nightly sounds of green monkeys and tree frogs, and tropical birds during the day; it was pure heaven! When (not if) it rained, we simply read on the covered veranda overlooking the gorgeous grounds. We stayed 2 weeks and had a blast! The Fairmont Beach Club is just down the road, as well as wonderful Bajan restaurants - out favorite was Juma's for dinners, and Simone's Beach Stand for lunch and takeout dinners. And just limin! Tennis was superb with Olley. So happy we were able to make this trip!

World-class stay
This was my second time staying at the property (Yellow Bird). This property is wonderful for so many reasons. It is the perfect place for a getaway. The grounds are spectacular and boast the most luscious nature and greenery, the facilities are stunning, and the estate is in a great location. The staff also make you feel welcome and safe. The property is clean, just as described, and the photos are accurate. Although it's difficult to capture the true beauty of Barbados and Sugar Hill in photos, these pictures do a pretty good job. I will most definitely be back. Thanks, Judith and Alicia, for a phenomenal stay!

The property was very lush with lovely gardens. We saw green monkeys when we first got to the Sugar Hill estate. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The apartment was beautiful with the private balcony and terrace. I look forward to coming back to the Yellow Bird apartment.

Beautiful Property!
We stayed 4 weeks at Yellow Bird, Sugar Hill and our expectations were exceeded in every way! Yellow Bird is well equipped with very comfortable beds, fans & A/C, loungers, wi-fi, full kitchen with anything you might need, etc. We were well taken care of by Phil with weekly housekeeping and Alicia, the property manager. The Sugar Hill resort is absolutely magnificent with two pools, a restaurant, and gorgeous grounds. The included Fairmont Beach Club is a bonus with lovely beach facilities. We loved it all and will be back!

Gorgeous apartment in a stunning location
Great communication with the owners & booking process. Perfect apartment, in a wonderful complex. Stunning well kept grounds, two beautiful pools, very quiet & relaxing. The apartment is very well equipped with everything that you could possibly need. We would recommend staying here & wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again in the future.

I'm also happy to hear how much you liked the apartment and appreciated the excellent housekeeping from Phil. I'm sorry to hear how disappointed you were about the Royal Pavillion beach club which was advertised when you first booked your holiday in January 2020. However, you re-booked your holiday twice since then and during that time I changed beach club membership (due to mixed guest feedback) which I promptly updated on Yellow Bird's HomeAway site. I have now sold Yellow Bird which is under new ownership. I'm sure it will be in very good hands so please do keep a look out for the property on the HomeAway site if you would like to book another stay!

Wonderful vacation in Barbados
We spent 10 days in Yellow Bird (extended from 7 days because we were enjoying ourselves so much.) The property is exactly as described and depicted in the photos. Beautiful location in Sugar Hill with the birds singing and palm trees swaying in the wind. So very peaceful and relaxing. It is very well equipped and the King size bed is very comfortable. The rooftop deck was wonderful. We spent many mornings and evenings up there, having coffee and just enjoying the spectacular view and refreshing breeze. The pool area is beautiful, the perfect place to lounge after a busy day touring or at the beach. Sugar Hill is just well enough removed from the hustle, bustle and noise of the main roads yet close enough to drive to town, grocery store, restaurants and beaches within minutes. The entire property is perfectly maintained. We rented a vehicle and drove around the entire island, visiting many of the locations suggested by Kate. I highly recommend Kates place, and Barbados for a spectacular vacation. I would definitely stay there again when I get another chance to travel to Barbados, which is a stunning island filled with beauty and warm friendly people.

Sugar Hill is such a lovely and peaceful environment to retreat back to after a fun day of being on the beach or touring the beautiful island of Barbados. We also love sitting on the top deck first thing in the morning while it's still cool and then again in the evenings when the heat of the day subsides. The sound of the birds and the palms is magic from up there. You've been lovely guests and it has been a pleasure to host you. You are both more than welcome to come back and stay in Yellow Bird.

Lovely apartment, peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Well equipped kitchen and BBQ, good ac and ceiling fans. Plenty of towels (bath/beach/pool) cooler bag and beach club membership to Jumas. Two pools and the clubhouse is great for happy hour (Tuesday and Friday) followed by dinner (no driving involved ) You definitely need a car as it’s a 20+ Minute downhill walk to the bars/restaurants/beach and a 30+ minute uphill walk back 😉 Only negative issues: constant lack of water in the mornings; could do with comfy chairs/loungers on downstairs balcony (instead of 6 seater dining table) as upstairs terrace to hot (for us) in the afternoons; a luxury property merits softer bed pillows.! The sound quality on TV was average to awful and the LG remote didn’t work although a new universal remote was supplied, but didn’t replicate original functions on remote. (Instructions on devices would be helpful) Speedy responses from the owners prior to arrival and Alicia (apartment manager) was very responsive throughout our stay. We did have a fabulous holiday and won’t leave it 10 years till we return again to Barbados 😁

Hi Susan Thank you for your very positive and detailed review. I'm glad to hear how much you appreciated the apartment and Sugar Hill, especially the onsite restaurant and the happy hour! The water issue appears to be a problem on the West coast generally and more specifically in the Westmoreland/Sugar Hill/Apes Hill area . I believe that they are still working on rectifying this but the problem is made worse in the morning on a day when the Sugar Hill contractors are topping up the pool. I have spoken to the Sugar Hill Manager about this and she is arranging for this to be done very early in the morning and not at a time when water is in demand! We hear what you suggest about comfortable sitting chairs outside but are more likely to put this on the top deck for people to enjoy the evenings and star gaze! The 6 seater table on the dining terrace has been used frequently in the past by families and groups of friends who are staying in different apartments but like to get together in the evenings. I hope you will come again and definitely not leave it another 10 years!!

Fabulous stay at Sugar Hill
The apartment was all that we hoped - clean, spacious and very comfortable. I hadn’t appreciated before we stayed what a great location it is. The facilities and general standards at Sugar Hill are really impressive. Two beautiful swimming pools, great tennis courts, lovely landscape and bar/restaurant. Plus easy to get to any number of great beaches.

December 2021 stay
Sugar Hill is a beautiful estate, high up above the sea , 5 mins drive or 25 minutes walk to the sea( steep uphill on the way back ). The flat was very well appointed, the bed was comfortable and the air con and fans were very effective. The pools , especially at the club, were a joy. You need a car to benefit most from this area. We enjoyed the casual vibe of the Juma s beach membership which came with the flat. Would recommend without hesitation .

I'm glad you enjoyed the swimming pools on the resort; they are large and luxurious and blend in with the ambience of Sugar Hill. I'm also pleased that you enjoyed the Jumas Beach Club which is a fairly new beach club on the same beach where the Fairmont Hotel is situated. We haven't actually tried it yet! Incredible stay with a one-of-a-kind host team
Not to mention the incredibly spacious, luxurious and thoughtful property, my stay was made even more special by Kate's incredible hosting abilities. Everything was taken care of and Kate truly went above and beyond to ensure that given the Corona circumstances, I could have the most relaxing and peaceful trip. As a seasoned user of other rentals, this was my first time using VRBO, and it has far exceeded my expectations. When this happens, I like to acknowledge it. The property is exactly as it appears in the pictures. The grounds are glorious, the staff are kind and accommodating: a special thanks to Cynthia at the Sugar Hill Estate front desk for ensuring I had a local's take on island life activities, and a special thank you to the property manager, Alicia, for all of your support and guidance. Whenever I had an issue, Alicia was on hand, incredibly responsive, accommodating, patient and is a true benefit to the overall experience. Given the COVID situation, and all of the many things that could have gone wrong with this trip, I am very grateful I had the chance to have some rest and relaxation in such a beautiful property hosted by such a caring, considerate and thoughtful hosting duo: Kate and Alicia. Although you have the property to yourself, their responsiveness makes it feel like your (urgent) needs are very well taken care of, even from a distance. Thank you, all, and I am looking forward to coming back and recommending this place to many others. :)

Lovely apartment
Despite the current world crisis we spend 10 days here in March. Weather was beautiful. The resort was very quiet. The apartment was perfect for us. It was well kitted out and the terrace and outdoor balcony were lovely. Our housekeeper was very kind . Sugar hill is beautiful. Pool area was peaceful . We used the beach passes a few times and enjoyed the beach club, its lunches and cocktails watching the sunset. We visited Bathsheba, Crane Beach. St Nicholas and earthworks pottery. As well as other spots on the west coast. We had a car all the time and it was invaluable. Although we also used a local taxi in the evenings. Our meals out included the Lone Star and Carizma in the chattel village. The info in the apartment was very useful although some of the restaurants have sadly closed. We will return!!

Perfect condo, great location
The lovely apartment was exactly as described and the Sugar Hill complex is beautifully maintained. The pass to the Fairmont was very useful. We walked the short distance to the north of the beach (as recommended) which is quieter and a short stroll to a very good beach bar for lunches. However, we took Kate’s advice and drove to Bottom Bay (about 40 mins drive) which was well worth it - amazing! Another beach worth a visit is Batts Rock. Kate left a very comprehensive list of restaurants which were all good. However, one not included was The Fishpot near Speightstown (about 20 mins drive). This was our absolute favourite and reasonably priced. Finally a very very big thank you to Phil (the maid), who was the most helpful and loveliest person around. Our first visit to Barbados was 7 years ago - why did we wait so long to return?

Thanks for the addition of The Fish Pot - we have been there but it was many years ago so that's something we must do next time we are in Barbados. Please don't leave it another 7 years before coming back again - we are all looking forward to being able to go out there again!!

Thank you for your very nice review. I'm glad you liked the property and that the washer/dryer problems were resolved so quickly. Alicia is an excellent property manager and is always on hand to sort any issues out - we have actually got a brand new machine installed in the apartment now. I agree with you that the South beach area of the beach club is cramped and can get overcrowded during the high season, bank holidays and weekends. However, the good news is that the North beach is available for guests and we use this all the time. There are always plenty of loungers and there is a lovely big beach area. The other benefit of the North beach is that you can take advantage of the service that is offered by the hotel staff! They come round at lunch time to take lunch/drink orders and then bring it to your lounger. It is beautifully presented and definitely service with a smile! The price of this is only slightly more than what the beach club cafe charges and you will receive a 10% discount when you show your membership card! I will update my information sheet explaining this because I'm not sure if my guests realise the many benefits of a quick walk through the hotel to the North beach side!

Great condo in Barbados
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Barbados. From our initial contact with Kate to my many questions with Alicia the service was wonderful. I always received a prompt reply none of my questions were trivial. The condo was exactly like the pictures and description. A beautiful property with e everything we needed. The access to the tennis courts and pools were fantastic along with access to the Royal Pavilion. It's been thirty years since our initial visit to Barbados and definitely would love the opportunity to come again and without hesitation would stay at Kate's place again. Highly recommend it.

For a couple, perfect.
The apartment was exactly as described. Comfortable, well equipped, situated on a very pleasant estate overlooking the pool and only a few minutes drive from the beach and Holetown. An added bonus is guest entry to the Fairmont Beach Club, although it has to be said that it belies its 5 star rating. Mattresses left out in the rain and car repairs happening on the grass are just a couple of examples of lack of focus. Special mention about the excellent cleaner who came twice a week and the owner who is very responsive and proved extremely accommodating when it transpired our flight was delayed. All in all, I can only recommend.

Peace and quiet
A lovely stay in a lovely property. We have stayed on suga hill a few times. It’s a really nice development. The property was as described clean and tidy. We were out all day and and every evening so didn’t use it too it’s full potential. However all the staff were very welcoming and even came and found me to tell me I had left the lights on in my car this was very much appreciated. Great place for a visit to the island.

This was our second and longer stay here. The apartment is well appointed, very close to the pool. The sun terrace is great if you just want to stay around the apartment, or there are plenty of sunloungers by the pool. The access to the Fairmont was an added bonus which we used a couple of times since its just a few minutes away by car. Phil is just lovely and Alicia the property manager kept in touch to check we had no issues. There is an onsite restaurant, Carizma on the Hill, which we ate at a few times, although being off-season the opening times were reduced. Great views for sunsets though, whether its open or not, as is the bay at the Fairmont. Its a very safe environment and if you are looking for a place to stay in Barbados we'd highly recommend Yellow Bird.

Brilliant Property - Great Location - Access to Private Beach Club
My wife and I have now stayed many times at Yellow Bird - it is a fully equipped one bedroom condo with a sundeck above this second floor condo overlooking beautiful palm trees and gardens with the ocean in the background which we often use for dining in the evening - access to the nearby private beach club makes this property exceptional - it is in the best part of Barbados in a gated community - exceptionally quiet and safe.

Stayed here for an all too brief few days in October. Lovely apartment, well appointed, with a private sun terrace(mind the stairs in the rain), which we'd highly recommend. Just a few steps away from a large pool with plenty of sunbeds. Onsite restaurant or its only a few minutes drive from Holetown with a variety of restaurants to choose from. Hire a car to explore the island and use Kate's very comprehensive guide on places to go. We'd add the Lone Star restaurant to her list of recommendations of places to eat for somewhere special.

Beautiful, relaxing place to stay!
Yellow Bird is a gorgeous condo with wonderful outdoor space. It was nicely furnished, the grounds were impeccable, and the pool(s) are amazing. It's secluded but close to the city when/if you want to leave. Even more, Kate and Maisha were wonderful to work with. I would definitely stay here again.

Yellow Bird 2018
This was our second visit to Yellow Bird and it did not disappoint. The apartment is ideal for a couple, is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Philadelphia, the housekeeper, keeps the apartment pristine and is a real treasure. The roof sun terrace is a bonus, it provides an ideal location for evening drinks and a barbecue with superb views over the beautiful gardens and swimming pools at Sugar Hill. We have already submitted our request to return in 2019.

What a fab break!
We had a fabulous week staying in the Yellow Bird at Sugar Hill. The apartment had everything we needed. Well equipped with everything you would need to produce your own meals, sunbathe on the private roof top terrace, utilise the pool two minutes away, enjoy a cocktail at the bar also two minutes away. Wonderful beautiful getaway
We had a wonderfully relaxing getaway at Yellow Bird. The apartment is ideally located on the west coast not far from the beach in a lovely garden / pool setting. This is our second time to Sugar Hill development and we enjoyed it as much as the first. We enjoyed walking through the development, swimming in the pool, visiting the local Lime grove restaurants & shopping area and going to Fairmont beach club. The apartment deck area was wonderful place to read and relax. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals or snacks and we enjoyed our meals, smoothies and tea on the veranda dining area overlooking the pool. We would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a nice getaway. Bill

Yellow Bird is a beautiful apartment set in lovely surroundings
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Yellow Bird - it was the perfect place for a relaxing two week vacation. The apartment itself is very tastefully furnished, extremely well equipped, even down to a cooler bag for taking drinks to the beach! We were very well looked after by Sasha the property manager from Sothebys and Phil the housekeeper who keeps the apartment spotlessly clean. The sun terrace has views across the Sugar Hill estate to the sea and was a lovely setting for our sundowners and barbecues! Sugar Hill is a very well kept, quiet and well maintained development.The two pools (one of which is just a few steps from the apartment) are excellently maintained and for the most part we had them to ourselves! We hired a car and so had quick and easy access to the Fairmont beach and bar/cafe - the staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was very good - we ate there on several occasions. We also visited a few places on the island that we hadn't been to before: St.Nicholas Abbey (and old sugar plantation house that has been beautifully restored and where we purchased some of the rum that they now produce) and Bottom Bay, were two of the highlights. All in all we had a very relaxing and memorable vacation and will certainly be going back to Yellow Bird in the not too distant future.

A lovely quiet week on Sugar Hill
The apartment sits on top of a small block mid way up the west coast of Barbados. Although we hired a car, really the cost of taxis being so reasonable, and the excellent "Carlos" at our disposal, it worked out about the same and saves the aggro of driving. The apartment was clean and tidy and had a roof terrace. Perfect for two people, but below us a family of 5 were staying in the same size unit! The apartment was well equipped, even a line of ice cold beer waiting for us on arrival, thanks! Sugar Hill is a safe, gated community with a couple of lovely pools, the main one being adjacent to the restaurant which we enjoyed on three occasions. Owned by an English lady "Carizma on the Hill" is a real find and the community are really lucky to have it on site! All resort staff were friendly, use of a small gym was also included. We were really unlucky with the weather. having been in Barbados for the last 8 years at this time of year...and we have never had so much rain! It poured down and we spent a bit more time in the apartment than we would of liked to, not exploring the wonderful beaches and scenery. This would leave me to my only feedback that we found the sitting room furniture a little bit uncomfortable, and perhaps an upgrade should be on the cards. Having said that, if it had been sunny we would not of noticed, and the communication, ease of booking and general facilities were lovely, good value and a very pleasant holiday. Beautiful home, even better service.
Yellow bird was a great choice for our trip to Barbados. The home itself was lovely, very nicely decorated, equipped with extras like a cooler bag and plenty of nice beach towels. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked great. We were greeted by a caretaker on our arrival who walked us through how the appliances worked and clearly explained when she'd be back to clean during the week. We chose to visit during an especially active hurricane season and our flight out was cancelled. I contacted the property manager, Sasha, who kept in close contact with us while arranging with the owner for us to stay until our flight was rescheduled. The owner, Kate also personally reached out to us about staying until it was clear to fly. I was very impressed with the manner both Kate and Sasha treated us. The hurricane could have caused major stress for us, but amazingly it didn't! I highly recommend the Yellow Bird to anyone visiting Barbados!

Luckily for Barbados, it is not actually in the official hurricane path (the last hurricane hit the island in 1954 I believe) but this one certainly got up quite close! I'm glad you felt supported by both Sasha and myself - it was no problem at all to let you stay an extra night so that you could reschedule your flight. It was a pleasure to have you as a guest and hope that you will return for another visit to Yellow Bird.

Luxury penthouse apartment this is not
Our stay at Yellowbird was cut short as our initial impression was disappointing and did not improve materially over the five days we stayed out of the 17 we booked. We didn't get a 'meet and greet' service from Sotheby's, instead an email at 2:59, the time our BA flight landed, asking us to pickup the keys from reception. We found this when we logged into the apartments wi-fi. We were told at the gate at Sugar Hill that the keys were at reception, so we let ourselves in to be 'greeted' by a large puddle of water on the kitchen floor which came from the laundry cupboard. We called Sotheby's who said someone would come the next day - we said someone should come sooner as we had no idea what was causing the leak. A repair man did arrive later and said it was 'residual' from a recent repair. This was not the case as we turned the machine on the next day and another puddle ensued! Two technicians arrived during the course of the day and repaired it. Our first night in the apartment on what subsequently proved to be 2 x "Orthopedic Extra Firm" mattresses, not a king size bed as described but two singles pushed together, which together with polycotton sheets and synthetic fibre filled pillows meant a singularly uncomfortable night. We don't have a medical condition of the back, like many people have 'problematic' backs and therefore prior to booking asked the owner 'how would you describe the mattress tension on the bed, hard, soft etc? She replied 'It's neither soft or hard - or I would have been the first to notice'. If we had been told the correct mattress tension we would not have made the booking. Sasha from Sotheby's made a brief appearance with 2 feather pillows the following day but didn't linger. 2 remedies for the bed suggested by Sotheby's were a thick sponge foam mattress topper which we endured for four nights ~ far too hot, or revert to sleeping on the sofa-bed as an alternative ~ ridiculous!, neither of which solved the mattress problem. As we were unable to change the mattress we were forced to find alternative accommodation, incurring additional costs to ourselves, was extremely inconvenient and very disappointing we checked out of Yellowbird 12 days early, advising Sotheby's who simply told us to leave the keys at reception. We received no apology from them or the owner, who told us if we left on or before 9th July she would refund 7 days rent. Phil was very good FYI - no convenient local supermarket until Nov!

Dear Mrs Swinton When you initially made the booking, perhaps my alarm bells should have started ringing when you mentioned that you have only ever stayed in upmarket hotels, which of course have the capacity to offer a range of bedding, pillows and mattresses, and have never booked a self catering private rental accommodation before. However, I will now deal with the points you have raised. We have all (Sotheby's, Phil and myself) apologised to you profusely for the fact that Phil was called away on a family emergency and was unable to meet you. The meet and greet service I offer is an unofficial arrangement that I have with Phil, not Sotheby's, and she is good enough to try and be there to meet every guest on my behalf. You will find that a lot of the apartments in the block do not offer this service at all and that it is the norm for guests to pick up keys from Reception. However, once again. I do apologise for this. The leak - the repair man had been called out before your arrival to mend a small leak in the washing machine. Obviously in the rush to get this mended before you arrived, he didn't repair this satisfactorily and, again, I apologise for this. Sasha, my property manager, gave you a list of time options including the next morning when the technician could return. You told her that it wasn't convenient for a certain time in the evening as you were "resting" but in the end he called around at 6.30 pm which must have been an hour or so after your arrival. Very shortly after you arrived, you requested that my property manager went out and bought some new feather pillows for you. This was turned down on account that I have to cater for the majority of guests and that some actually might be allergic to feathers. Sasha was good enough though to borrow some for you. You then turned your attention to the mattress. Out of 84 guests so far, a lot of them repeats, only you have complained about this. You asked what my personal opinion was of the mattress which I gave as comfortable, not hard, not soft. This I still stand by and obvously most of my guests agree. Again, we put forward several options including a topper and use of the sofa bed. You turned them down. At my suggestion, after no pleasing you, you moved out. I even offered you a week's refund even though I have a no refund cancellation policy. I note the one star review. I too have given you a Guest one star review. Other property owners need to be aware.

The property was very nice. The location was outstanding.
Yellow Bird was absolutely perfect for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We found it to be very comfortable and loved the location. We spent much of our time during the day out exploring and very much looked forward to coming back to the apartment and relaxing by the pool. The membership card for the Fairmount is definitely an added bonus. We found the owner recommendations to be be very helpful and went to many of the ones listed. Our personal favourites were "The SeaCat" and "De Outback". We also really love Mullins Beach. We having been raving about our stay at Yellow Bird and about the island of Barbados. We will definitely be going back. I'm quite confident the owners will be hearing from us again in the future as to the availability of the Yellow Bird. Sincerely, Jason

Sugar Hill is one of the best places to stay on the island.
Overall the apartment is excellent. The one thing that lets it down is the air conditioning set up. The sitting room works fine, but the bedroom another matter! For the air con to stay on the windows and doors must be closed and the motion sensors must be kept active, which is all very well during the day but as soon as you lie down in bed the inactivity of the motion sensors switches the unit off. This means that in practice there is no air con at night in the bedroom. With nighttime temperatures of 80 degrees it was stifling and very uncomfortable. Not everyone wants to sleep with both the bedroom door and patio doors open at night whilst sleeping, to minimise the stifling heat, as there are rats mice monkeys and bats as potential bedroom visitors. Keeping the doors and curtains closed all day helps to keep the temperature down but the air is rather stale as a result. I do appreciate that the sensors are in place to save electricity costs, but this is a "luxury" apartment and a properly functioning air con is a must in my opinion.

The motion sensor should be sensitive enough to detect movement when you are sleeping and should remain on while you are asleep. I will let Sasha, my Property Manager, know and she will look into this for me. Just to put your mind at ease, I have yet to see any mice, bats, rats and green monkeys in the apartment!

Yellow Bird
We had a great stay at Yellow Bird and it was perfect for our needs - two adults and one child who slept on the sofa bed. We arrived almost two hours late following our delayed flight on a Sunday evening and yet Phil was still there to meet us. The apartment had everything we needed to eat in, a lovely terrace with BBQ and a light breeze. There was a cooler bag with ice packs in the freezer and Tupperware so being able to make a packed lunch some days was really helpful (we thought prices had risen dramatically since our last visit so this was a great option for us). The two pool areas at the complex were clean and well kept; we especially loved the main pool so we could have an early evening cocktail watching my son swim; although we spent most of our day at the beaches. All in all a fantastic holiday. My only query is how long it takes to get our deposit returned? We have now been back almost 2 weeks and I haven't heard anything about it and can't find any information on the Owners Direct site.

The Security Deposit is always held by Owners Direct and not myself and it is returned by them onto the same card which is used by you to pay online for the holiday. Superb Apartment, Great Location
We really enjoyed our first stay at Yellow Bird. The apartment was excellent and perfect for my husband and I in every way. Very clean, well equipped and exactly like the photos. We arrived at the Sugar Hill estate early evening on our first day, picked up the keys from the club house and Phil the housekeeper was waiting for us. Phil was excellent, very friendly, helpful and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. The grounds and facilities of the Sugar Hill estate were excellent. The communal pools were also never too busy which was ideal for us and we also dined at the newly opened restaurant in the clubhouse 'Carizma on the Hill' where the food was very good and there was also live music on which made it extra nice. With the apartment you also get access to the Beach Club at the Fairmont Hotel which is 5 minutes drive away which was an added bonus for us. Again not too busy and you can easily get a comfy lounger and brolly a few steps away from the sea. All in all a fabulous holiday, great apartment, great location and communication with Kate (the owner) and Phil was excellent. We highly recommend this apartment and we have booked to go back next year.

Not worth it - Much better options around the island - Be careful
Sugar Hills suppose to be a luxury condo, but during our 3 nights stay there were several water cuts, last one for 6 hours the day we were departing, what means a +10 hours way back home with no possibility to have a shower before depart. The apartment was not as good as it looks at the pictures. Place is plenty of mosquitos. There is no option to have lunch, dinner or buy food inside Sugar Hills or nearby, so rent a car is mandatory, or you will be stacked in a place with nothing to do and 3-5km to the beach. Regarding the beach Club at Fairmont is not a proper access to the Hotel facilities, but only allow you to use a 100m beach front on the left side, full of stones, where is not possible to swim. Hotel staff look that they don't really like people that are not guests staying there. Best beaches of the island are at the other side (1 hour away) and the west coast is only popular because of its super expensive resorts, but with average beaches that you can find anywhere else. Better to stay close to Bottom Bay / The Crane on that are the real amazing spots. Huge amount (equivalent to three nights stay) is charged for deposit in your credit card (not only as guarantee but deduced), after almost one month I have not received it back (not even partially), and if it's not solve urgently I would have to claim in all posibles ways. As we had so much inconveniences the day we departed for the water cut, we forgot to leave the paper cards membership of the Fairmont at the apartment and the housekepper was not there to verify everything at the check out. The day after, owner contacted us asking for the passes and we proceed to send them back immediately by postal service, but obviously it takes some days for them to arrive as we come from far and Barbados is also a remote place. The owner took the unilateral decision of deduce equivalent to one night stay of the deposit for the replacement of the cards (USD5-10 would have been reasonable), even when she was advised not to do it under any circumstance, cause I disagreed, but the worst of all is that cards are under way and she would have both the originals and replacements in a few days. That makes me think that is only a strategy to gather more passes taking advantage of the clients. I'm very disappointed, and for all this reasons I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit the place or be involved in any way with the owner!

I have now waited 3 weeks for the return of the Fairmont Pavilion Beach Club passes but my property manager has still not received them. For this reason I have had to deduct the price to have these replaced from your security deposit. They are needed for future guests. Just to make it clear at this point, that it is the Fairmont Pavilion Beach Club who set and charge the amount that is required to issue replacement cards. The rest of the security deposit is now being returned to you.

Sweet little apartment
A friend and I spent a few nights at Yellow Bird and it was mostly lovely. The restaurant/bar was closed which meant a drive for dinner but we also did some grocery shopping and the kitchen at the apartment is very well equipped. We had a bit of a frustrating time with the AC - there are sensors on them and they would just randomly stop working (in the middle of the night, if we were watching TV or sitting reading, etc). The windows and doors have to be closed for it to work, which is great, except that the windows are wooden slats so when you close them the little apartment feels very dark. Overall it was a good stay - really nice pools and nice and quiet. Definitely do need a car to get around. Nice to be able to use the chair at the beach.

The restaurant was closed for a period of time while work was done on the premises in preparation for the new restaurant, Carizma on the Hill, to open. This is now up and running. I am sorry to hear that you had problems with the air conditioning. The sensors work so that if someone is in the room they are supposed to detect movement and therefore stay on as long as all the windows and doors are shut. The air con unit should not randomly stop working if this was the case. I will draw my Property Manager's attention to this to make sure it is functioning properly. Beautiful and exactly as described
Our stay at the Yellow Bird was absolutely fantastic. There was great communication before and during our stay including helping us out with a later checkout due to our evening flight home. The apartment is exactly as it appears in the photographs and we loved the dining area and roof terrace. It is extremely clean and has a fantastically well stocked kitchen. The aircon was needed and worked very well. The access to the Fairmont Beach Club was a huge bonus as it would be a shame to be in Barbados and not be by the beach - we went there every day! Overall you won't be disappointed with anything at Yellow Bird and the price is extremely good for the area. Thank you for a great stay!
