There's no way to avoid that. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The building is old but part of the charm. Others complain about the size of the rooms so I booked the larger suite which was a great idea. We had space to move around and a nice view of the city. We did not experience any loud noises and had a decent night sleep. The rooms, which appear to have been recently and tastefully renovated, are spacious, clean, and quiet. The welcome amenities (gummy bears and nuts) are a nice touch.
