Walk to the Wailuku River & the Hilo Bayfront in only a few minutes from our home. Also to note, New kitchen renovation as of July 2019! Although within walking distance to Hilo town, our diverse and unique neighborhood, Wainaku, has a country feel, with lots of historic homes; it's also quiet and very private. As we are on the magnificent Wailuku River, our property has a wonderful breeze at all times, and there are a number of beautifully stunning bird species that make our property their home, too. Also to note: both adjacent neighbors are on 1-acre parcels, which makes our home very peaceful. Enjoy New King and Queen Serta beds and Belgian linens, and plush cotton towels. Further toiletries include organic shampoo and unscented body lotion by Aveeno, cotton swabs, and cotton balls. Three spacious bedrooms, with plenty of closet space. Two bathrooms with all the amenities. The basement bathroom, in particular, can function almost like a sauna after a day of exploring. Well stocked kitchen. My brother and his partner made an excellent meal - macadamia nut encrusted ono - without any trouble at all. Aesthetically, this property cannot be beat. Plantation era architecture, with hardwood floors and tons of built-ins, adorned with artifacts collected by the owners. And the grounds are amazing. Lush tropical plants in every corner. We spent several mornings sitting under the small garden gazebo listening to birds and watching the local fauna, including wild pigs and a mongoose. Also, there is a wonderful veranda to while away the evenings. Finally, this is a great lication for walking dowtown. The Friday Night Market and Saturday Farmer's Market market are within 15 minutes, as are countless restaurants. A few restaurants necessitate a drive (I recommend Kenichi's) but for the most part you won't need your car to eat or shop. If you twant your rental property to be more than just the place where you hang your hat, this is the place for you. Now for two hints: 1\. Have bug spray. The house is well screened, but there are mosquitos in the garden, and you will want to enjoy it. 2\. There is adequate snorkeling gear for a brief excursion to the beach. But if you want to make snorkeling a major part your trip, rent some from Hilo Ocean Adventures. ##### Mark M. The spacious house was well appointed and had such a Hilo feel. The grounds were beautiful and peaceful, it was close to downtown, and perfect for our stay during our visit for a family reunion. The house was immaculate yet full of character and charm, decorated perfectly and full of fresh flowers upon our arrival. Spacious with lots of different places to hang out. Beds very comfortable, everything you could want was provided and Kevin was very helpful. The garden is lovely and private feeling. Location is just outside Hilo’s downtown and is easily walked. A perfect home base for the area, though I wish we had been able to just spend more time in the house because it was so nice. Would definitely return here. ##### Robert A. The antique furniture is beautiful. The property is beautifully landscaped with amazing flowering plants and fruit trees. Extra touches of flowers, coffee, etc. were especially appreciated. We also enjoyed the eclectic collection of interesting objects/ art throughout the house. The grounds are well taken care of and beautiful . . . the fresh avocados were a treat. The frogs were very active and added to the tropical feel of the property. Kevin is a great host and very attentive to our needs. The location is close to downtown HIlo . . . very convenient. We loved the kitchen . . . very well stocked, chef quality cookware, and sharp knives (thanks!!!). We have no hesitation in recommending this property. ##### Bruce S. The property is fabulous. Great location to downtown Hilo. The renovations are lovely- brought some ideas back to my own home! The yard is beautiful and I greatly enjoyed my morning cup of coffee sitting outside watching the Mongoose & listening to the birds. The absolute ONLY complaint (and would not have been such a big deal had our flights not gotten cancelled resulting in a long, late drive from Kona) is there were no stocked beverages available other than tea bags.
