Not so happy

Staff was friendly, room was basic.

This hotel was fine, save for an issue that I had with my room. After arriving back from dinner around 10;30 I tried to enter my room but was unable to because the internal security latch had somehow moved to the locked position. I apprised the front desk of this. They were sympathetic and apologetic and attempted unsuccessfully for some time to gain entry. I was told that the maintenance person would not be available until 8 the next morning. They put me in another room, but I did not any of my toiletries, clean clothes or daily medications. At 8;20 the next morning I called the desk to inquire about the status of the maintenance person. I was informed that I had received incorrect information as they did not work full time on-site and would not be available until the end of their regular job. I could not afford the time to wait around indefinitely as I had an obligation 4 hours away in Massachusetts and I had missed my evening and morning medications at this point. A call was made to the hotel owner. The hotel owner arrived in about 30 minutes with a special tool. After multiple attempts he was unable to get into the room. He and I went to a local hardware store where he purchased some cutting tools. Upon our return, another staff member was standing outside my room with a crowbar. We were able to gain access in about 2 minutes. Where was this crowbar the night before? I suggested to the owner that comping my night's stay would be appropriate. He did not commit to that.
