Wir (21) und (27) waren begeistert. Herr Stöger organsierte für ein bisschen Geld einen privaten Bus nach Hikkaduwa (auch zurück). Die Fahrt dauerte gute 2 Stunden, der Bus war klimatisiert und erholsam. Das ganze Haus ist groß und liegt direkt am Strand. Bis auf die exotischen Vögel und den Wellengeräuschen war es sehr ruhig. Keine 5 min entfernt gibt es Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und eine Apotheke. Sehr freundlich wurden wir von den englisch sprechenden Haushältern Chandra und Upendra begrüßt. Unser Hausteil Yin sind mit stilvollen Holzmöbel eingerichtet und wir haben uns sofort heimisch gefühlt. Beide Schlafzimmer sind gemütlich, jedes Bett ist mückensicher und besitzen jeweils einen Deckenventilator, welche abends in den schwülen Nächten gute Arbeit geleistet haben. Auch führt jedes Schlafzimmer zum gemeinsamen Balkon mit einem wunderschönen Blick zum Strand, Pool und großen Garten. In der Küche kann man gut kochen und alle Haushaltsdinge funktionieren, sind vorhanden. 2-mal haben wir uns von der Chandra bekochen lassen. Das war mit Abstand das beste Curry was wir je gegessen haben! Auch Lob an den Upendra, der uns jeden Frühstückswunsch erfüllen konnte. Natürlich haben wir ihnen am Ende unseres Urlaubs noch ein extra Trinkgeld gegeben. Nach mehrmaligen Zusammentreffen im gemeinsamen Garten oder Pool, haben wir unsere Nachbarn aus Haus Yang kennengelernt und uns abends auch öfters auf ein Bierchen getroffen. Wenn wir von unseren Entdeckungsreisen zurückgekommen sind, hat Chandra unsere Betten gemacht und alles war sauber. Das W-lan funktionierte gut und die Dusche ist nach einem langen Tag sehr erfrischend. Der Pool war ebenfalls gepflegt. Das Dorf Hikkaduwa ist sehr freundlich und ist auch durch einen "längeren" Strandspaziergang leicht zu erreichen. Wir sind oft mit dem ausgeliehenen Rädern in die Stadt gefahren, was wir jedem empfehlen können. Abends kann man noch lange die vielen Bars besuchen und sicher mit dem Tuk Tuk nach Hause kommen. Problematisch war auch unsere Busfahrt nach Galle. Nach fast zwei Wochen mussten wir dann leider mit schweren Herzens wieder abreisen, aber wir haben vor wieder zu kommen! Sehr freundlich wurden wir von den englisch sprechenden Haushältern Chandra und Upendra begrüßt, die uns durch das Haus geführt haben. Unsere zwei Zimmer sind gemütlich und besitzen jeweils einen Deckenventilator, welche abends in den heißen Nächten gute Arbeit geleistet haben. Jedes Zimmer führt zum gemeinsamen Balkon mit einem tollen Blick zum Strand, Pool und großen Garten. Loben möchten wir die guten Kochkünste von der Chandra, die uns 2-Mal das beste Curry Sri Lanka zubereitet hat! Und auch Upendra, der uns jeden Frühstückswunsch erfüllt hat. Beide sind sehr hilfreich und nett. Natürlich haben wir am Ende unsere Reise noch ein extra "Trinkgeld" gegeben. Keine 5 min von den Haus sind Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und eine Apotheke, die Einheimischen hier sind ebenfalls sehr freundlich. As a family with 2 small kids we had the time of our life. The place, country, people are just much more than what you normally expect. But the cherry on the cake was Upendra & Chandra, every little "problem" they solved, every advise you needed they provided and they treated us in the best way possible. Wir (3 Personen Mitte 30) haben den Aufenthalt in diesem Haus total genossen und würde dieses Haus jedem weiterempfehlen. Das Haus hat eine fantastische Lage, ruhig, direkt an einem wunderschönen Sandstrand und einem zusätzlichen Pool. Die nächste größere "Stadt" mit Geschäften, super Restaurants und Bars sind ca 2km entfernt. Ganz einfach mit dem Tuck Tuck zu erreichen oder mit einem etwas längerem Spaziergang am Strand vorbei. Das Haus ist komplett möbelliert und alles ist sehr sauber! Der größte Reiz an diesem Angebot, sind die beiden "Guten Geister" im Haus! Chandra und Uppendra! Alle Frühstückswünsche + Abendessenswünsche wurden erfüllt, das Haus war immer sauber. Wir sind lediglich einmal auswärts zum Essen gewesen, da die Küche einfach sensationell gewesen ist! Einfach der Hammer! Egal ob Curries, Fisch, Gambas, Hühnchen...und beim Frühstück einfach mal nach Safran Pancakes fragen ;-) Die Beiden sind einfach nur zum gerne haben und definitiv auch ein Grund wieder zu kommen! Zudem gestaltet sich die Ankunft unproblematisch. Herr Stöger hat Ansprechpartner vor Ort, die einen für kleines Geld direkt vom Flughafen abholen. Auch die Touren die wir gemacht haben (über mehrere Tage), wurden direkt in Absprache mit dem Guide gemacht. Alles total unkompliziert! Wie man merkt, fange ich auch noch nach 5 Monaten wieder an zu schwärmen!!! Vielen dank nochmal an den netten Vermieter, mit dem man auch mal einen Wein zusammen trinken würde! Auch diesmal war der Urlaub einfach super. Wir haben uns alle sehr wohlgefühlt. Chandra und Upendre sind die besten "guten Geister", die man sich vorstellen kann. Die Abwicklung und auch die Betreuung durch Hans und Gabi Stöger waren super. Das Essen war perfekt und auch wie dort alles möglich gemacht wurde, was unseren Urlaub noch angenehmer gestaltete ist einfach unbeschreiblich. Wir hatten tolle 3 Wochen. Haus B ist sehr gut aufgeteilt für eine Familie mit einem sehr großzügigen Wohnbereich und der tolle Pool im Garten ist einfach spitze. Der Strand war unser alleiniger Badeplatz und die Kinder hatten mit dem Boogie-Board jede Menge Spass. Wir sind schweren Herzens wieder zurück nach Deutschland. ##### Vicki H. Nice place. Pool and beach (safe swimming at nearby cove to the left) were a delight. Chandra and Upendra looked after us, both very pleasant and eager, but we checked their calculation for food and took over the shopping ourselves. Gave them clear orders for dinner and plenty of time off. Their English is somewhat limited and cleaning seems no high priority. We didn't take up any offers from people coming to the house to sell tours (overpriced). We were in House A, because we wanted 3 bedrooms. House B is better and classier. Kitchen and fridge in both houses for your own use. Busses to Galle and Hikkaduwa no problem. We were two Families so we had the house with 4 bedrooms, house B I think. We were lucky enough to have the owners here at the same time which was lovely and we had some nice evenings on the Terrace having dinner, they had lots of great tips, Like who to go to for best massage , trips to go on and getting the Tuc Tuc do Beer trips (bring back the old bottles and get new ones) for a very small fee !!! . The location is Ideal, Its by a little fishing village ( Dodanduwa ) that has everything you need ( except Alcohol and ATM ) , but its only a short tuc tuc ( 2 or 3 K ) ride away from the busy Hikkaduwa with all the bars .The lads in the TucTucs around Villa Kandu were very reliable and friendly , one of them Bird is a good friend of the owners and staff . He let my two sons drive his tuctuc which was one of the holiday highlights. Its quiet and the locals are so friendly. We bought Fish straight from the fishermen in the village ( with Upendras help ) , and while we were there the kids watched the big water monitors under the bridge( another tip from the owners ). Chandra and Upendra the staff are brilliant, they made breakfast every morning and cooked some amazing meals we had a big BBQ one of the evenings too. They have worked for the owners for more than 20 yrs, so they are very very Reliable and trustworthy . The Views are just stunning(I will never forget the sunsets )and the sounds of the sea and crashing waves. The sea can be rough, so we were advised to swim just down a few meters away by the rocks, but we got in just in front of the house a few times when the waves weren't so big and it was fine. The villa Has a good WiFi . The garden is very private and has lovely shady areas . We really had a blast , can't recommend the villa enough. It really is a very special place. ##### Natasha M. Die Bewertungen sind wirklich nicht übertrieben! Zu viert haben wir Haus, Garten und Pool genossen. Der Weg zum Strand war keine halbe Minute lang. Auch uns haben Chandra und Upendra mit leckerem, spicy Essen verwöhnt. Ebenso wie ein Masseur, der ins Haus kam. Fußläufig vom Haus ist der sehenswerte Tempel zu erreichen, und auch kleine Ladvhen für den täglichen Bedarf. Mit den Fahrrädern ging es vom Haus aus durchs "Hinterland". Lohnenswert-auch in wenigen Minuten zu erreichen- ist eine Kanufahrt durch die Lagune. Traumhaft!l Man kann so viel vom Haus aus machen. Fischmarkt jeden Morgen, oder authentischer Sonntagsmarkt. Ein Ausflug nach Hikkaduva oder Galle mit Bus oder TukTuk lohnt sich allemal. Und wenn man dann noch das Glück hat, dass die Vermieter zur selben Zeit vor Ort sind, bekommt man Tipps frei Haus und eine super nette Gesellschaft. ##### Johannes H. We are a family of twelve, from four countries (Sri Lanka, Singapore, Australia, and USA). There was plenty of space for all of us, lots of beds, bathrooms, etc. Upendra & Chandra were very helpful, and we also got meals from the plentiful local food shops. We went to the wonderful sandy beach every day for surfing (far less crowded than Hikkaduwa), and the pool at the house was larger than we expected, long enough to swim laps. Etwas abgelegen vom Trubel in Hikkaduwa direkt am Meer fühlten wir uns sofort Zuhause. Was gibt es schöneres als morgens gegen 6 Uhr eine Runde am leeren Strand joggen zu gehen und danach einige Bahnen im gut gepflegten Pool zu schwimmen. Währenddessen hat Upendra dann schon das Frühstück auf der Terrasse gedeckt. Ein wunderbarer Start in den Tag. Und abends wenn man dann von seinen Abenteuern zurück kommt z.B vom Wakeboarden bei Notchi am Birdlake- kann man sich von Chandra bekochen lassen. Chandra kocht sehr gutes Curry – Fisch-Barbecue von Upendra und süße Waffeln von Chandra sollte man sich auch nicht entgehen lassen. Vom Balkon aus hat meine herrliche Aussicht über das Meer zu den Fischerbooten und ich liebe es jeden Abend mit Meeresrauschen einzuschlafen (auch in sehr schwülen heißen Nächten hab ich mit Ventilator und offener Balkontür immer herrlich geschlafen). Wir (zwei Mädels Mitte- Ende 30) waren dieses Jahr zum zweiten Mal in der Villa Kandu für eine Woche Anfangs April im Haus B. Zu dieser Jahreszeit geht an der Westküste die Saison gerade zu Ende. Das Wetter ist noch stabil und es ist etwas ruhiger am Strand, aber dennoch vergnügen sich die Surfer in den Wellen und wenn man will findet man immer noch Strandparties. Das Meer wird schon etwas rauer und wenn man sich nicht nur in den Wellen vergnügen will, schwimmen kann man super am Coral Beach oder an den Stränden um Gale (mit öffentlichen Bus – gleich vor der Haustür oder Tuk Tuk auch gleich da - erreichbar) und der Pool ist ja auch immer da. Alles was man täglich braucht, bekommt man direkt über der Straße. Upendra hilft gerne bei Planung von Ausflügen, Also was soll man sagen – alles wunderbar, wie beschrieben – vielen Dank nochmal an Chandra und Upendra – freuen uns schon aufs nächste Mal! ##### Tanja M. We have had two absolutely fantastic weeks here in Kumarakanda and Villa Kandu. We had pretty high expectations but they were exceeded at all levels. Extra fun that we got to meet the hosts Hans and Gabi few days. They are incredibly hospitable and generous and could provide valuable tips. Then they have also forwarded connections to several nice people who could provide transportation, boat tours, massages, tours and more. Since then, we have the best of everything, Upendra and Chandra, which are fantastically warm and kind people. We have had the absolute best service imaginable. Big rooms and big spaces . The view from the terrace is amazing as there is a view along the beach and in the morning or afternoon is possible towatch the fishermen. Chandra and Upendra who are there to help in the house and with the cooing are really nice and trying to help al the time. Chandra is an amazing cooker and very nice person. There are some waves in front of the house but just a few meters on the left the seas is suitable to swim and even next to the house on theleft there is a little bay with a very nice beach . The beach is suitable for nice long walks or running. Next to the house there are several good restaurant right on the beach and around there are shops and many things to visit. Hikkaduwa is very close , it is possible to go by the beach although is a long walking or by tuk tuk in just a ten minutes. Swimming pool is nice and in general everything is perfect. While we were there we did not need to plug the aironditioning as we had enough with the fan and opeing the sliding windows as it is just in front of the sea and there is always a nice sea breeze. It is amazing listening the waves and the birds. We really loved it and sure we will come back next year. I highly recommend staying in Villa Kandu, excelent quality. ##### Francois M. Haus, Garten und Pool sind sehr gepflegt. Die Villa gehört zu den schönsten Häusern der näheren Umgebung und liegt direkt am tollen Sandstrand. Gleichzeitig befindet sie sich in ruhiger Lage und nicht unmittelbar im Touristenzentrum. Trotzdem sind die umliegenden Orte problemlos mit Bus, Bahn oder Tuk-Tuk in wenigen Minuten zu erreichen. Am Strand entlang zu Fuß ist man in einer knappen halben Stunde in Hikkaduwa. Unbedingt in Anspruch nehmen sollte man die Kochkünste von Chandra sowie die Fürsorge von Upendra, der übrigens auch ein ausgezeichnetes Fischbarbecue über Zimtholz macht. Zusätzlich kann auf die jahrelangen Kontakte des Vermieters zurückgegriffen werden, was sehr beruhigend ist, wenn man so wie wir das erste mal in Sri Lanka unterwegs ist. So wurden wir vom sicheren Fahrer und "Tourguide" Damith am Flughafen abgeholt und haben mit ihm einige Ausflüge unternommen (z.B. 3-Tages-Tour nach Kandy und Sigiriya). Zudem gibt es die Möglichkeit einer geführten Regenwald-Tour. Abschließend können wir jedem nur empfehlen, seine Ferien in der Villa Kandu zu verbringen. Wir haben die Zeit dort sehr genossen und würden jederzeit wieder kommen! ##### Franziska H. Vi en familj med tre barn, 12, 10, 6 år samt två vuxna firade jul i detta fina hus. Sju dagar vi verkligen njöt av. Personalen var fantastisk och gjordes så att julen blev en fin upplevelse. Vilken lyx att få maten tillagad och ett unikt tillfälle att få hemlagad mat. Dagarna ägnades åt lojt poolhäng och promenader på stranden. Gick man en bit in mot Hikkaduwa blev det mer långgrunt och säkrare för barnen att bada. Utsikten från den övre terrassen var enastående, härligt att möta solnedgången och höra vågorna som rullade in. Runt hörnet från villan väntar bylivet och det verkliga Sri Lanka. Lätt att ta en Tuk-tuk till Hikkaduwa för att handla. Det nödvändigaste finns dock runt hörnet i de små affärerna längs med vägen. Eftersom huset ligger en bit in från den stora vägen störs man inte speciellt mycket av trafiken. Villan var ren och fräsch. Åk ut på en kanottur på den närliggande lagunen eller åk till Galle för en rundtur i de gamla fortet! Poolen var super att ha. Inga problem att huset delas av två familjer samtidigt. ##### Karin S. Ein gepflegtes Haus mit einem schönen Garten und einem großzügigen Pool. Chandra und Upendra sind zwei außerordentliche liebenswürdige und fürsorgliche Gastgeber und machen den Aufenthalt unvergesslich. Aufgrund der teilweise starken Brandung des Ozeans ist der Pool absolut sinnvoll und wurde von uns regelmäßig genutzt. Das Ort ist in einem ruhigen Ort abseits vieler Touristen gelegen und ein Strandspaziergang nach Hikkaduwa dauert ca. 20 Minuten. Wir kommen wieder! ##### Hendrik T. We spent 1 week at this amazing villa before our two week tour of Sri Lanka. We did not want to leave. Myself, my husband, our son and his girlfriend travelled here from Vancouver, Canada. Chandra and Upendra made us feel at home and prepared some wonderful meals, with fresh seafood and curries. We all loved Chandra's chopped salad with pineapple. Upendra made the best omelets. Walked on the beach every morning. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean waves. Great place to chill out and rest. Our son proposed to his girlfriend on the upper deck of the villa Dec 19/13\. Chandra and Upendra prepared a special BBQ and candlelit dinner for the occasion. The villa was exactly as advertised. Very clean and nicely decorated. Nice pool to cool off. We made the 30 min. walk into Hikkaduwa along the beach several times. The local Sri Lankan people were very friendly and always had a smile. Had dinner only one night in Hikkaduwa at the Roti Shop. Excellent food. Loved the banana, honey and chocolate roti. This restaurant was recommended by the drivers Ruwan and Damith who picked us up from the airport. They gave us a short local tour of the area around Hikkaduwa our first day. Checked out the moonstone mines, took us to the ATM and grocery store. Made us feel very welcome in their country. Hans Stoger the owner was very helpful and had his driver contact me via email. They were waiting for us when we arrived at 11:30pm. I would highly recommend this villa. The property is managed very efficiently. Chandra and Umpendra have worked together for years. Hans Stoger offers a professional customer service with easy payment on PayPal.
