"The property is historic, yet well renovated, so we were comfortable. They also provide tea and cups of noodles at no additional cost if guests need a snack. The biggest bonus is that it's a traditional Japanese house in a historic part of town, so staying there is a travel experience in itself. The small intersection the house is located at is even on the front cover of a tourist handout at the local TI office. We highly recommend it. "

A hidden gem, such friendly staff. The rooms were huge with an amazing massage chair. Onsen indoors and outdoors and amazing food. We would travel back to the area to go to this hotel.

Amazing stay and great location for the Nakasendo Trail. We booked a room with futons, which were firm but more comfortable than I had expected. At check-in, we were offered a large choice of yukata to wear in the hotel, and they were incredibly comfortable! The hot baths were also amazing—the best we tried in Japan.
The buffet was good, but no ingredients were listed and the staff could not help, so it was quite tricky for people with allergies. Otherwise, it was a great stay.

An amazing experience and stay!
We spent two nights in the ryokan and it was a highlight of our trip. The food is exquisite and we were served an array of traditional, creative and beautiful dishes which we very much enjoyed. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and did everything to make our stay relaxing and comfortable.

Good clean hotel in excellent location for the Nakasendo trail. Close to the railway station plus many local options for lunch/dinner. Nice to have the Onsen there as well.

This is a great onsen experience. Great service and friendly staff. The baths are good and clean, and the kaiseki food is fantastic. Building is a bit old, but the traditional rooms were comfortable and atmospheric. Would go again!

The hotel is close to the station. Just a short walk from the underpass. Friendly staffs, as usual for Japanese hotels. The room was quite clean despite some hairs on tatami mats. Wifi signal was very strong and fast. The onsen was mediocre, but overall impressed.

What an amazing hotel, staff greeted us outside the hotel and knew who we were even though we didn't tell them what time we were arriving.
They checked us into our traditional Japanese apartment complete with an outdoor onsen, but not before my girlfriend got to choose her Yakuta to wear.
The apartment was amazing, tatami mats, paper screen windows, floor tables and chairs. The onsen was fantastic, and the outdoor shower was a great experience.

I had a fantastic stay - the rooms were very traditional, clean and had lovely views. The private onsen was really special and the meals were incredible - I really liked the private dining room spaces and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. I'd love to stay again if I was ever back walking the Nakasendo Way!
