Hiawassee Chalet | Invigorating spa retreat!

With its scenic setting on the shores of Lake Chatuge amid the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains, the small city of Hiawassee, Georgia, is home to a large number of outdoor attractions. The city's moniker, which comes from the Cherokee word for "meadow," gives only a hint of the nearby natural wonders. Among them is Brasstown Bald -- at 4,784 feet above sea level, Georgia's highest mountain -- along with numerous hiking trails, scenic overlooks and tumbling waterfalls. Many of the mountain cascades are short drive south, midway between Hiawassee and the neighboring towns of Blairsville and 30 min to Helen. That's right, 30 Min to Helen with tubing in the summer and oktoberfest and more in the winter, and a German Town all the time.

All of this and more are near Sky Hawk Chalet. 1ST BEDROOM- The main chalet has a large spacious master bedroom with king bed. 2ND BEDROOM- bunk beds located in the loft upstairs. 3RD BEDROOM- The guest house has a single bed with a trundle and it's own bathroom and shower…The best part, you get both spaces when you stay! The coffee nook is great for your morning coffee on the large screened in porch with mountain and lake views. Guest house has a mini fridge, standard coffee maker and all you need for coffee, and a sink.

There is ample parking on the rear entrance of the home. There is one parking space at the front entrance on Morgan Rd-- drive past the home and turn left on Morgan Rd and you will see the front entrance. Firewood is not provided.

Guest house has a mini fridge, standard coffee maker and all you need for coffee, and a sink.

Other things to note:
This space has been prepared for guests traveling from out of town!
We love to host guests from out of town who have previously stayed in short-term rentals and earned favorable reviews.

While we appreciate the interest in staying with our property, please note that we do not cater to guests who live in the area and are looking for an alternate venue for their affairs or events and reserve the right to turn these guests away.

Nice Getaway!
Very clean! Loved the little coffee bar and all the little personal touches left around for the guest (don’t want to give away those surprises). Electric fire place under the tv was nice to snuggle on the couch in front of it. Beautiful view from the porch to the mountains. I don’t know if the hot tub in the pic is the same as the one there or the location was moved. It’s not on the porch so the view isn’t the same. But it was clean and felt so nice on those chilly nights. Not secluded. You have neighbors right next to you. Also, if you are parking a boat I definitely would not recommend. We couldn’t get the boat up the bottom driveway. The boat kept trying to slip on the gravel. At the top, we we able to park the 17.5 boat but we had a horrible time turning around in that tiny circle to get it parked, especially when the neighbors were parked right there. At one time we had to unhook the boat and move the truck and re hook it up to park it. I was terrified it was gonna roll into the neighbors house. Would stay here again (without the boat). Nice little place for a couples get away. Good places to hike right down the road and site see. The brewery has amazing food.

Great overall stay close to the lake
Overall we enjoyed the property and it’s offerings but did find the cleaning job somewhat lacking upon arrival (dirty floors). Beyond that we enjoyed the location close to the lake, Helen, and the hottub.

Disappointed
Grill was extremely dirty. Very obvious grill was not part of cleaning procedures. There was an old grill brush, but the handle was broken. Went to use pots and pans and most of them were dirty as well. Light above the range was not working. Gas range was difficult to light on one of the burners. Picture windows above the living room had lots of webs and bugs on them on the outside. Bathroom floor had panels loose and grout was flaking off. Shower had either bad grout or something black in the corner under the seat. A condom wrapper fell out of the bed in the guest house. Washing machine was extremely loud and scared my children trying to sleep in loft. Hot tub had lots of debris from the tree it was under so we didn’t use that. The steep parking in front of the house was poorly graded. Our van almost got stuck. A neighbor came over and said she warns everyone staying here to park on the Morgan road side. There isn’t really a space there, but we managed to get our van off the road enough to not cause issues. A retaining wall and grading with pavement would probably make that parking usable to people who don’t travel in a Sherman tank. Not kidding about the bad parking. Neighbor said someone got stuck and it costed thousands to get crews up there to get the vehicle out. We did contact management, but all the issues were blamed on the previous guests leaving a mess. Almost forgot only lamp in guest house near door was broken as well.

We had a relaxing stay. Enjoyed time with family. The loft had a sticky floor. Besides that everything was in order. Hot tub at night with lights was liked by all. Thanks.

A perfect north Georgia trip!
We had a great stay, thank you for renting your property! We loved the location- it was close most of the hikes we wanted to do and we were still about to go see the towns on our list and then get back to a cozy place and watch tv and play games! For people who are considering the visit- it is worth your while to visit local Blairsville and Dahlonega! They are beautiful town squares. Dahlonega had a very fun and interactive gold mining tour which the kids loved and Blairsville had a cool distillery we loved! Helen was WAY over rated in our opinion and we would likely not go back there. Also, take yourselves up to Brasstown Bald and see 360 views at the highest point in GA. We did a beautiful hike at the High Shoals Falls Trail and didn’t see anyone else on the trail. It was a great time, kids loved it. Pack a lunch and enjoy the second waterfall. Such a beautiful area!

Good stay!!
The house itself is wonderful! Good location. Comfortable. Guest cottage is adorable. Beautiful scenery. The hot tub wouldn't heat up, the company or person that cleans the house could be better, but other than that, i would definitely recommend reserving this house!
