Our family had a great time on the lake. It was great weather for paddle boarding, kayaking and using the boat. The house was clean and roomy enough for 5 of us. The deck was the best part. All in all, we would definitely come again!
The place had it All! Views, comfort, toys for young and old, boats, stairs into the lake with a Sandy bottom. Three fire alarm I it u you pits, hot tub, washer, dryer…..like I said it had everything. This vacation will be hard to beat.
Perfect vacation at Sunset Cottage. Property was beautifully designed and immaculate...all amenities as advertised and great communication with the owners. Kayaks, paddleboards, and the pontoon boat on the beautiful lake kept us busy along with hiking and sightseeing in the Thousand Islands. The sleeping porch was extraordinary...really unique feature. Dinners and sunsets on the multilevel deck...never got old...Everything we were hoping for!
The cabin was exactly what we were looking for during our Fall stay for rest and relaxing. The views every morning and evening were gorgeous. We love that the cabin is pet friendly so our dogs could join us for the week. We used the hot tub almost every evening to watch the sunset which were amazing. The amenities were outstanding which included use of the pontoon boat. There are also a few trails that you can walk to without having to get into your car. Our favorite was the Trout Trail that took you to the Boy Scout bay area. Lake Placid was about 2 hours away so we took a day trip to there. Beautiful scenery. Overall, we felt at home during our stay and loved the area. So peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommend.
We had a heavenly week on Trout Lake in Sunset Cottage. We were a party of six with four young adults and two of us on the older side. It was a perfect cottage for three couples with nice private space for each along with ample common space both inside and out. We made good use of the boat, kayaks and passage boats and spent lots of time fishing. The hardest decision each day was which level of the deck to sit on. We swam, hung in the hot tub, visited by the fire and enjoyed amazing meals with farm fresh meat and produce. The hosts were incredibly responsive, warm and welcoming. We how to return!
Our family had a wonderful stay at Sunset Cottage. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the lake and all the amenities that were provided. The cabin was just as described and any question or concern we had was answered promptly. It was the perfect vacation to slow down and make family memories.
We spent a week there and my wife and our two boys did not want to leave. This beautifully positioned property offered everything we needed in terms of the view, peacefulness, space, and overall accommodations. It was a perfect launch point for our daily trips to different parts of the lake to either chill, swim and do some fishing. I'd like to thank the hosts - Mary and Bryan for making our vacation serene and memorable.
Beautiful location and a very nice cabin. The multiple levels of decking is great to change up viewing areas. We all truly enjoyed it. Great communication with the host. We caught large quantities of small mouth, rock bass but very few with quality size. Definitely doesn't change my review on the cabin, but the driveway is fairly steep so if loaded down with gear and with only 2 wheel drive vehicle it can be a little challenging to make it up
We had a great time staying over a long weekend with family for our daughter's graduation from SLU. We wish we had more time to just relax by the lake.
While there I enjoyed listening to loons, whippoorwills and seeing an amazing amount of Trillium along the gravel road. A good hot tub followed by icy plunges in the cold May lake.water was an amazing experience.
Wonderful location. Nice and clean. Comfortable bed and sheets. Nice to have two sofas and so many Channel options on the TV as well as Netflix and Amazon prime. Nice back porch with view of the river. Very responsive and friendly host. Good kitchen. Also nice to have two bathrooms. Owner plans to make some needed cosmetic updates to the bathroom. But it was perfectly adequate. Would definitely go back again!
My wife, two children, and our old dog had an amazing time hiking, fishing, swimming, boating, and hanging out having quality time and making memories. The cabin was perfect and the location was incredible. The hosts were gracious and easy to deal with and everyone on the lake made us feel like locals. The hiking trails and waterfalls were within 20 - 30 min drive and family friendly. The rocky islands on the lake were fun to explore and leap off of into the water which was clean, clear, and the perfect temperature for swimming. Kayaks and pontoon boat were perfect. TV and wifi worked great for lounging at night and watching movies. Water heater worked great. Easy, fun, and would definitely go back.

lovely cottage with incredible lake views
our stay at sunset cottage was absolutely wonderful and we would definitely recommend and stay here again. many activities for children and adults, and so many spots to relax and enjoy the surroundings. house is very well appointed and we appreciated things like the hot tub, fans in each bedroom, small pontoon boat and kayaks, cooking amenities in the kitchen, and washer/dryer with detergents and dryer sheets.
when we had an issue with the clothes dryer not working, the owners got someone out to fix it immediately - incredible service!
a couple things could use some tlc...the stairs into the lake, aging parts of the decks, aging kayaks (totally functional but worn), and the shower head in the only shower is too large to really function. that being said, we wouldnt hesitate to stay here again because the positives outweighed any negatives. and the lake....omg its the most beautiful!!!
What can I say other than, amazing!! Let’s start with the location. Picturesque views of the lake from the hot tub. My wife and I had a no stop fire going inside. The cottage is very cozy with all the compliments needed for a nice getaway. Oh, and let’s not forget the included pontoon boat!! We trolled the lake countless times. I will definitely be coming back!!
A wonderful property and location. We paddled, boated, cozied up by the fire and soaked in the hot tub. The rest of our time was spent cooking, eating and playing games. Great family weekend together!
My husband and I stayed here the last week of August with our dog. We had a fabulous time. The lake is crystal clear and absolutely beautiful. John and Donna are excellent hosts and were very responsive to all inquiries. The bathroom has been newly renovated with a stackable washer and dryer in a newly created covered area right outside the back door. Very convenient for the beach towels and wet clothing coming off the lake. Fishing was excellent with the biggest fish of the week caught from the dock (approximately 4 1/2 lb large mouth bass)! Kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans and utensils. Beds were VERY comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!!
First vacation, with only us. No grandparents, cousins etc. Love you all but it was great to be at trout lake with just my wife and 4 amazing kids.
Highlights:
Molly (11) won the fishing contest, with 6 fish caught. Fire master
Gunner (10) kayaked to, and climbed all the cool rocky islands, and lipped all the fish for the first time! Wood reloader.
Clare (6) kayaked for the first time and got great at casting. No fish though. Lol S'more master.
Abby (9 mo.) took her first steps in the living room!! And was a trooper the whole time. Loved the hot tub and the boat rides!
Mom and Dad had a blast and just basked in the love and memories that were made!
Highly recommended!
This is a very peaceful beautiful place to really get away from it all! Make sure you bring life jackets for anyone who will use boat or kayaks - they are not provided. Also suggest you do grocery shopping before you arrive as the closest grocery store is 25 minutes away. There are two convenience/camp stores for basics such as water and ice. This cabin was perfect for two of us. I think 4 or 5 people would be comfortable but more would be crowded. It was an enjoyable relaxing stay. I would recommend.

Nice place
It was a very nice place. Not alot of room for dogs. Seemed like we were only ones tying up our dogs.
