About this property

Storybook stone & log cabin with barrel sauna, 2 min to the beach

  • Bring back summer camp memories at Camp Clover! This log and fieldstone cabin blends classic Northwoods cabin decor with creature comforts they never had at camp: sit by the gas fireplace, make a feast in the gorgeous kitchen, or unwind in the barrel sauna after a day on Lake Superior. Room for the whole crew with 3 bedrooms plus outdoor spaces and woods to explore, and Herbster Beach is just two minutes away. This is grown-up summer camp. Dogs welcome. WiFi and washer/dryer included.

We're Bark Point Ventures — a local team that lives and works right here on Wisconsin's Lake Superior South Shore. Camp Clover is one of our favorites, and we want your stay to feel as special as the cabin itself. We keep things low-key and contactless by default, but we're always a quick message or call away if you need anything. The moment you book, you'll get a digital guidebook link with directions, check-in details, and our best local recommendations — and a printed guidebook is waiting for you at the cabin too.

Camp Clover is on State Highway 13 in Herbster, one of the quiet, unfussy little communities that dots Wisconsin's Lake Superior South Shore. Herbster Beach — a beautiful stretch of sandy and rocky Lake Superior shoreline — is literally two minutes away, and the beaches at Port Wing are less than ten minutes south.

Right in Herbster, stop into Wags & Wine, our own dog-friendly wine shop, for a local pour and a browse. A few minutes up the road, Cornucopia (the locals call it "Corny") is Wisconsin's northernmost village, with a harbor beach, marina, and great sunsets. Beyond that, Meyers Beach is the jumping-off point for the famous Lake Superior sea caves at the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore — kayak to them in summer, or walk out on the ice in a hard freeze. Lost Creek Falls, agate beaches, fishing, and miles of hiking and paddling are all close by.

Head east and you'll reach the postcard town of Bayfield — gateway to the Apostle Islands ferry, apple orchards, and the festival circuit — in about 25–30 minutes.

Spring through fall means warblers, wildflowers, and some of the best fall color anywhere in the Great Lakes. Winter brings snowshoeing, true solitude, and the real possibility of Northern Lights right from the fire pit. It's rural, it's real, and it's gloriously unhurried.

You'll have the entire cabin and its grounds to yourself — every room, the barrel sauna, the fire pit, the outdoor seating areas, and the surrounding acreage. Free parking on site.

You've stayed in log cabins before. You haven't stayed in this one.

Camp Clover is a hand-laid fieldstone and log cabin — the kind that takes years to build and decades to feel right. From the outside it looks like something out of a storybook: river rock and log walls, a metal roof, arched windows, a barrel sauna sitting in the yard, and a lush green clearing ringed by tall Northwoods forest. Inside, every room has been finished and furnished with the kind of care that makes you slow down and actually look at things.

The living room. The heart of Camp Clover is a beautiful, dark-log living room anchored by a floor-to-ceiling river-rock gas fireplace. A sofa, comfy club chair, a rocking chair, a large smart TV, bookshelves stacked with real books, and arched windows that frame the trees outside. Vintage art, thoughtful found objects, and small personal touches fill every corner — this is a room that rewards an afternoon of doing absolutely nothing. Turn on the fire, pick something off the shelf, and settle in. (No wood-hauling required — just instant, effortless ambiance.)

The kitchen. A well-equipped galley kitchen with stone countertops, full-size refrigerator and freezer, stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and all the pots, pans, baking sheets, dishes, and wine glasses you need for real cooking. A dining table with a bench and chairs sits just off the kitchen — plenty of room for the whole group.

Three bedrooms. Three cozy, character-filled bedrooms, each with its own distinct personality — a mix of warm log walls, vintage artwork, rich bedding, and antique furnishings. The beds and décor carry the same thoughtful, curated feel as the rest of the cabin. Sleeps up to six total.

The bathroom. One full bathroom with shower, hot water, hair dryer, and fresh towels provided.

The laundry. A washer and dryer are on-site — a genuine luxury for longer stays or anyone coming in off a muddy trail.

The barrel sauna. Step outside and into the cedar-lined electric barrel sauna in the yard — one of Camp Clover's signature features and the perfect way to end an active South Shore day. No fire-building skills required: just dial it up, let it heat, and then cool down under the stars.

The fire pit & outdoor living. A proper fire pit with seating for the whole group, a barbecue grill with utensils, outdoor lighting, a unique and practical covered outdoor dining & living room, and multiple outdoor seating areas spread across the grounds. There's plenty of lawn space for human and canine to romp & play — and acres of surrounding woods to explore. This is the kind of place where the outdoor space is just as good as the indoor.

Dog-friendly. We love our canine guests at Camp Clover. Bring the dog — there's plenty of room to roam, acres of woods to sniff through, and Herbster Beach just two minutes down the road.

A car is the way to go — the South Shore is best explored at your own pace, and the distances are short. From Camp Clover, Herbster Beach is about 2 minutes, Port Wing's beaches around 10 minutes, Cornucopia roughly 10 minutes, the Meyers Beach sea caves about 20 minutes, and Bayfield around 25–30 minutes. Duluth/Superior and their regional airport are approximately 1 hour to the west.

Sleeps up to 6 across 3 bedrooms.
Dogs welcome — Camp Clover is dog-friendly.
    2-night minimum stay.
    Fast WiFi (250 Mbps) — a comfortable remote-work setup.
Washer and dryer on-site — great for longer stays.
No air conditioning — cooling is by ceiling fans, cross-ventilation, and the natural cool of the Northwoods. Lake Superior keeps this corner of Wisconsin genuinely mild in summer.
Barrel sauna — one of Camp Clover's signature outdoor features!
Lake Superior is about 2 minutes away at Herbster Beach — not the private shoreline of a lakefront property, but very close and very easy to access.
