We arrived at dark and there was one other person waiting to check in at the time, but no one was at the desk. She called the hotel several times with no answer and then someone finally came out to help us. I used a 3rd party site to book. The person said we had to out a card on file for incidentals, it was $100 and just a hold not a charge. We checked out before 6am the next day and left. We literally only slept, didn’t use a bath towel or anything. On Monday morning we were charged $100\. We called and said we’d be refunded. By. Wednesday we still didn’t see the refund and were told that the person who charged it was not supporting be doing that (happened to others to) and that he was no longer with them. We finally received the refund on Friday, a week after we checked in. We now know why the hotel across the street was full and this one was not. We won’t be back! We were traveling for the Phoenix BFL and chose this place because of its close proximity to the lake. We messaged Keith and Kathryn to make sure there were electric outlets outside for us to charge batteries etc and about parking as we had 2 boats in tow. They promptly returned answered me with pictures assuring us the place could accommodate us. When we got there we were shocked at how nice this place realy was, they even had some basic food provisions in the fridge for us. We will make sure to book this everytime we come down to this lake in the future. Thank you Keith and Kathryn for your hospitality and kindness. The location of Haven Inn in Louisburg is super convenient for Seby Jones Performing Arts. Also, the front desk girl who helped reactivate my key card in the morning when we got locked out was genuinely nice and helpful. Now… The photos online are a little… optimistic. You can tell they attempted a renovation at some point, but the renovation team fell way short. The floors are bubbling, separating, and growing things in the in between. Listen—I am not fancy at all. I’m the kind of traveler who just wants a clean place to sleep and a decent shower. But the bathtub was rough. There was mildew halfway up the tub and the shower curtain had clearly seen some things. Shower skipped for us. For three people, we had one towel and two wash rags, a used roll of toilet paper, and a collection of used mystery, mismatched lotion/conditioner/shampoo bottles. When I asked for more towels, they told me they had to wait for the other cleaning lady to finish washing some. The towels we eventually saw looked like they had served faithfully for about a decade and the mini fridge looked like it had rolled out of the back of someone’s pickup truck and was trying its best. No bugs (we hope) (and no refunds) so we stayed. 😂 And no, I didn't complain - I got the hint with the "All Sales Final, No Refunds" sign at check-in. My suggestion- book an Airbnb early. Sorry Haven, I kinda feel bad leaving a less than par review.
