The only negative is the house and patio area were not as clean as most rentals are upon check in. We had also asked prior to check in if firewood was available for the fire pit and were told yes. However, none was available so we purchased this once we got there. I would also recommend the owner add some kitchen knives for those that enjoy cooking. There are a couple of downsides to this property but would not deter me from recommending this place to able bodied people. There is a very narrow spiral staircase that leads to the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms. We, as the primary renters, ended up having to stay upstairs because we were with my step dad and his wife who are an older couple and could not have made the trip up those spiral stairs. The only other downside was the ceiling fan in the living room did not work and we called and texted the number given on the paper by the front door and never got any kind of response. Oh, also the last day, we were using the microwave and the flat top plug in griddle and it blew that fuse. The fuse box is behind locked doors but we were able to move the griddle to another outlet but were unable to use the microwave. The furnishings were great! The beds are super comfy. Slept wonderfully. If you stay in the summer months and have people upstairs, I would recommend another fan as the ceiling fan itself could only do so much in this 100 degree weather. ##### Melissa H. The place was cute and right by the river with a dock which is what we wanted. In the pictures of the house we didn’t see the spiral staircase to get upstairs so that was a surprise. The king size bed is super firm and we weren’t too happy about that. We like to grill at least once while we are there and the grill was rusted out and not usable so we ended up buying a small one to use. The house wasn’t very clean. There were mouse turds on top of the fridge and bird poop all over the front porch swing. It needed swept or vacuumed which would have been fine with us if they didn’t have the cleaning supplies locked up in a closet. We ended up buying a vacuum and mop as well. It would have been nice to have extra toilet paper and paper towels. We had to buy those. There needs to be some kitchen towels too. The half bathroom walls were unfinished and the wallpaper was peeling off. Altogether it was our least favorite house we have rented but we made due with what we had. ##### Shelly H. The upstairs has a very narrow spiral staircase which makes it tricky for bigger suitcases and older people so consider that when traveling. It worked out okay for us. The property needs to be completely cleaned! According to the listing there was a full bathroom upstairs. That bathroom's toilet was in a hall closet, the bathroom was completely taken apart and unusable!!! The owner sent me a message a few hours before check-in to tell me not to use the shower upstairs. There was NO shower, NO toilet or sink. The owner left that part off. The spiral staircase off the kitchen is barely useable due to the size of it. The dishwasher had dirty dishes in it. The screened in back porch and deck were perfect for lounging after a day boating and fishing. Although the river was very high during our stay, we did catch fish from the home's private dock. In addition, as someone who struggles with tactile sleeping issues while traveling (and often take my own bedding), I can attest that the sheets and pillowcases were soft and breathable. Check in was easy and property manager was great at communicating. Cons- house was dirty. Towels left under the bed from stay before us. Dead bugs on window seals. Both porch and deck had debris on them that needed cleaned off. Dock also has weeds growing from one side to the other with stickers on them. Yard also needed mowed plus there were internet/phone lines across the front yard which were a trip hazard. Carpenter ants all over house outside so be aware. Spiral Stair case isn’t for everyone so be sure you know that two bedrooms are upstairs. Pros- fully stocked kitchen and laundry area. Great screened in porch were we spent alot of time. The only complaint was with communication. While we were there, a storm took a tree and it fell directly across the driveway and the only way to exit. It was on the day we were scheduled to leave and we panicked that we would not meet our checkout time. I called and left a message explaining the situation and requesting a call back. I did not receive a return call until two days after we had returned home. Luckily, one of the families we were traveling with had a chain in their truck, and we were eventually able to move the tree and get out. ##### Jessica B. Check the spiral staircase to the second floor, a bit narrow. House and amenities were good, location on river is great. Management was slow to respond if at all. Asked prior to leaving if we could go in a couple hours early, no response, by the time we left to travel to the property I did not receive an answer. The last night a strong storm hit the area, next morning a tree had fallen across the driveway area. A car or pickup could drive under but we had a Class B RV that was to tall. No response for hours from the agent, we were lucky and were able to move the van across a field to the driveway pass the tree. Also heavily advertised by a couple I am assuming the Realtors, they were zero help. Should remove their name from all information. We had a wonderful weekend stay at this cabin on the Little Red River! My teenage boys caught trout off the dock that we ate for dinner! Cabin was just as described, we will be back!
