Lake Grindstone is a beautiful lake. I kayaked and played off the dock with my Welsh Terrier. That said, the cabin doesn’t make a good first impression as the deck is dirty and in need of a blowing off. The deck would not be safe for small children as there are gaps in the spindles. Could crawl and fall 8-10 feet. Couldn’t close the screen on the deck door off the LR; but was able to get it on the track using a butter knife. Satellite TV didn’t work. Nice kitchen and living space. Host contact was readily available.

Amazing cabin experience!
My family enjoyed staying at this cozy cabin get-away on beautiful Grindstone Lake. We were spoiled with a family cabin on a nearby lake from 1983-2020. Grindstone is a clean, clear lake with beautiful views of sunrises and sunsets. This particular cabin is located on a old resort property within the only bay of this large lake. Our family pets were allowed and enjoyed the beach entry and short distance to the water. The beds were very comfortable. If your choose to rent a boat it is super easy as they have a private boat landing for the “resort” owners. The cabin we rented had a very nice dock for personal use. Highly recommend!!!

Bathroom shower was changed and good. No closets in any bedrooms, the dishes and silverware had to be cleaned before use, not even sugar was included, they had a coffee pod machine without pods. You could do MUCH BETTER renting a cabin in one of the resorts, with many more amenities and cheaping pricing.

Memorial Day Weekend w/ Boat
This Hayward cabin was perfect for us and exactly what we expected based on the description of the property. It’s right by the lake (not on it like its your backyard - but nothing between you and the unobstructed water views and easy access to boat launch and dock). I also believe it has been recently renovated as it was very clean and nicely decorated. We have a 21’ Yamaha jet boat (3,600 lbs) and launched and dock with ease. Kids had a great time making s’mores and playing at the playground when not boating and fishing. Hope everyone has as good of time as we did!

Great location on Grindstone Lake
The cottage was as advertised. I have read some reviews mentioning the shower, but it was newly updated to a nice stall with a great showerhead, so we thought it was a great shower. The ad doesn't mention there is an outdoor grill, but there is one so no need to bring your own. And the ad mentions an ice maker but we didn't find one. If you aren't used to well water, I'd recommend bringing some bottled water. And from an entrance perspective, there are 23 steps to get up into the cabin. It got a little toasty in there with it being over 90 during the day even with all the fans on. So if I were to recommend one change, that would be it. We all had a fun time!

it was ok. The bathroom shower NEEDS to be upgraded! A new toilet would be ok too. It's not right on the lake like the booking suggested, and when I inquired "SEVERAL" times asking if it was close to the water, I never got a reply. Too many houses close by.

This is No "Resort"
Do not rent this property. The title is misleading - there is no "resort," the only amenity is access to a flimsy dock and lake views are obscured by trees. The interior is tight and not cleaned properly - from bugs and spiderwebs in the corners to stains on the upholstery. Upon arrival, we found a note saying that utensils had not been sanitized. There is an offensive smell from the well water (which is not potable), and the bathroom is ramshackle and stained. The bathroom and spiderwebs/bugs have been flagged in several other prior reviews but the owners have not addressed the situation. Located next to the road leading into the small compound, the house and firepit sit opposite the dumpster. We left early, pointed out the issues, and the owners/company did not respond in a satisfactory way, so they don’t care. Move on.

Cozy Cabin in the Northwoods
This is a great little northwoods property for people looking for a traditional "cabin on the lake" experience. It was roomy enough for 5 adults and a baby. The cabin itself doesn't have A/C or WiFi, so it encourages you to be outside in nature enjoying beautiful Grindstone Lake. We enjoyed the outdoor deck & grill most of the day when we weren't on the clear, cool lake fishing and swimming. The wildlife watching was amazing too; wish I would have brought my binoculars! In our 4 night stay we encountered muskrat, beaver, bald eagles, heron, cranes, ducks, turtles, frogs, various other birds, and not to mention scoping some big fish out in the crystal clear water. Having a private boat landing and dock to use was great! We took full advantage especially for the 4th of July fireworks. For those looking for a modern, spotless, no bugs/spiders, fully remodeled, etc...experience this is not your kind of place. It's a cabin, not a hotel or condo, although you can tell the owners have spent time updating many features such as the well-stocked kitchen. If you come in summer...make sure to bring extra fans to keep you cool at night!

Misleading Getaway
Be sure to read the comments before booking this property. The property was not thoroughly cleaned upon our arrival. Lots of bugs in door and window jams. found multiple cobwebs inside the property. Found a dead bettle under our bed. The shower is DISGUSTING! Ironically, there are no pictures of this in the listing. We didn’t shower in it at all. Covered in hard water spots and mold - including a used shower mat. Toilet has poor flushing power and clogged multiple times. Could smell gas when we woke up in the morning. The house was poorly stocked with towels and toilet paper. We only had two rolls of toilet paper upon arrival. Be sure to bring disposable plates and utensils as this property does not have a dishwasher. Bring your own firewood - the firewood they supply is very punky, not split and wet. The water around the dock has lots of Lilly pads and weeds and isn’t ideal for swimming. I wouldn’t recommend using the bot landing on the property - it isn’t paved all the way into the water. The bedrooms, kitchen, and living room are very nice, just need more regular cleaning. The neighbor who maintains the property was very friendly and came over and introduced himself. He even had the fireplace on when we arrived.

We checked the listing for accuracy and can see that it does accurately show the bathroom and shower, but we're so sorry if you were not able to locate those pictures. The listing also does not state that it supplies toiletries and other essentials or that it has a dishwasher, and we apologize if that caught you off guard. Unfortunately, the owner does not have control over external factors like the quality of the lake, and we're sorry if you found it not to be ideal for swimming. Grindstone memories
This is a great little cabin on the crystal clear waters of Grindstone Lake. The cabin is very cozy and is well stocked except for towels both kitchen and bath- make sure you bring your own. Superb location ! We had nightly fires in the fire pit with s’mores and great meals over the fire and on the grill. The beds were quite comfy and it was a great getaway.

Cabin needs finishing
The cabin had not been cleaned or prepared for our arrival. The neighbor is used as the cleaning service and he attempted to clean while we waited for 3 hours. He is not qualified to clean and did a horrible job. The bathroom needs to be remodeled and fixed. Tub is so gross, moldy and rust stained, nobody wanted to use it even for a shower. The toilet does not flush well and needed plunging multiple times per day. Sink in bathroom flows so poorly everyone used kitchen sink to wash and brush teeth. Entire cabin smelled of either dead mouse or leaking gas. Needed fans 24x7.

Quiet Cabin on Grindstone Lake
We rented this cabin for Father’s Day weekend. Our stay was great! Perfect location, comfortable and clean cabin, easy launching boat or toys, able to have a nice fire with plenty of wood. House was stocked with all your dishes you needed to cook. Thank you for sharing and providing us with a good experience.

Beautiful Lake, and very nice cabin that fit 5 adults and 2 children quite well.
Grindstone Lake in the Hayward Lakes area is gorgeous. This cabin has a great view of the lake and is quite nice. Cabin has newer kitchen and lots of windows facing a full length deck which overlooks the lake. There were many steps up to the deck, so this cabin is not handicapped accessible. The dock and built-in chair was wonderful for viewing lake activity which included 6 loons, 13 ducks, 8 geese, and more minnows than we could count. (And my grandchildren tried to count them all.) Oh, and two chipmunks visited our deck everyday. Dish TV is available. No Internet. If you wish to unplug and rewind, this is the place for you. The owner was very responsive through emails.

Great cabin with easy boat and lake access
The cabin was nice. The kitchen was stocked with everything that we needed for the weekend. The living room had a few games and movies in case of bad weather. The bedrooms were more than enough for our group. The shower could use a bit of an upgrade, but we emerged from it clean every time. The location was also convenient as it sits inside one of the only nice coves on Grindstone.

Highly recommend this cabin! We stayed with our two kids and their friends and had a great time. The lake was beautiful and the cabin was clean and comfortable. The cabin had everything we needed. Loved the deck and the fire pit. Thanks for a great vacation!
