Had really high hopes for this property as the Crowne was right around the corner but I wanted something locally owned and with more character. Everything was just as I imagined except for the staff. We asked for some printing to be done and granted it was quite more than they are probably used to, but it was done without first informing us of the price and then all of a sudden we were slapped with a bill for 35pounds! Again, wouldn't have minded IF they had asked us first but they didn't bother. Then, even after we agreed to pay the charges, when we needed more printing they simply said no. Maybe they are not used to accommodating business customers? All in all was beautiful but wouldn't stay here again just due to the lack of business services available.

It was a beautiful building that was clean and very well-maintained. The rooms were comfortable and refreshed every day. The breakfasts were good and they were able to cater for my gluten-free diet. I also brought my bicycle which the hotel staff were more than happy to store in a safe place every evening. Next time I am in Harrogate, I will stay here again.

The staff were extremely helpful. The room was very well appointed. The bathroom clean and spacious. The breakfast was very filling. The premises was full of period pieces and the stained glass window on the stairs was magnificent.

Lovely,welcoming family hotel ,spotlessly clean and incredibly comfortable bed and bedding . Very tasty breakfast in beautiful dining room . Will definitely be returning.

Ideal place to stay if visiting for a conference. Rooms are clean, quiet, and cozy. Nice ensuite too with a bath. I'd also reccomend Ascot house for longer weekends away, I wish I'd been able to stay longer than 1 night.

Ideal couples stay
We had a lovely stay at Ascot House. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean with pleasant amenities, a very comfortable bed and a great shower. Breakfast was excellent, as was the location and parking. We highly recommend the nearby Lily Pad for dinner and would love to return for longer.

Lovely hotel. Staff were very welcoming and everything about the hotel made it a lovely stay. Bed was very comfortable, room and hotel in general very clean. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and food was excellent. If staying in Harrogate again, would definitely stay there again. Thank you for a lovely stay

The Crown Plaza hotel, a 3 minute walk away, was less expensive than what I paid for the same dates. Our breakfast for 2 nights for 2 people was £60 pound.

Hello Mr Barrigan,We're sorry to hear you believe 15pp for our hearty Yorkshire breakfast is a lot (I'm happy to hear we are still 1.95pp cheaper than the Crowne Plaza)! I would like to assure you we believe in offering value for money and if you were unhappy with the standard of food or service you received I do hope you mentioned it upon check out? At the time of booking you would have been offered, via hotels.com either a room only or a B&B rate (booking breakfast in advance is always a cheaper alternative...) and either a non-refundable or flexi rate. As you opted for the flexi room only rate and subsequently booked breakfast this would have been more expensive than reserving a room on a non-refundable B&B rate. We will also be investigating our pricing/rate management as this is the first time in 15 years we have been more expensive than the Crowne Plaza on a comparable room and rate. Please note we also offer FREE onsite parking which the Crowne Plaza charge at 10, per day!!!

Stayed for 1 night for visit to Harrowgate, the hotel was perfectly adequate clean & tidy staff friendly and helpful. I asked for breakfast slightly earlier than usual due to my schedule and it was not a problem. Would definitely recommend the hotel and stay there again.

Staff were very helpful, my daughter needed medication stored in a fridge this was not an issue at all. When staff retuned our TV they even offered to take it back to the kitchen to save us a trip! Food was lovely and a good choice for breakfast.

The property was very good but I thought rather expensive. I booked two double rooms, one for me and my wife, the other for my brother. His room was smaller than ours, with a smaller TV and bathroom, but the charge for the room was the same. In our room, several spotlights were not working. Facilities were good, the lounge looked nice but we didn't use it. Breakfast was very good. Service was OK, nothing special, no sort of welcome when we arrived despite the website promising a "real Yorkshire welcome" or something similar. My brother arrived before us and asked if he could wait for us to decide which room to have but was told he needed to decide immediately for some reason. There is free parking but the car park is not that easy to get into. It was full when I arrived but they let me park in the drive in front of the hotel. They do also offer permits for local street parking. It is about 1 mile from the town centre and in a nice area.

Car park very busy ,steep turn and narrow, better option to park on the road outside and free. My room was quiet with a comfy bed and I had a bath .

Ascot Hotel - 2 day stay
I would recommend , the hotel offered a clean and comfortable room. The television work and tea coffee facility was provided. It also had car parking facility if required. The breakfast was good ... I engoyed the vegetarian bearkfast and the service was excellent.
