- In a secluded spot alongside a former station on the historic Nidd Valley Railway stands The Old Goods Wagon, now rescued and restored after being abandoned during the final stages of railway steam power. It’s set within an idyllic location situated within the lush green countryside of Nidderdale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village itself offers a decent local pub, village store and coffee shop. Keen walkers will love how close this property is to The Nidderdale Way, a wonderful 53-mile circular walk that rewards hikers with breathtaking views over the Dale. There is a great selection of local attractions and natural landscapes all within easy driving distance, including Brimham Rocks and the famous Three Peaks of Whernisde, Ingleborough and Pen-Y-Ghent.
The carriage has been thoughtfully restored in keeping with its heritage, with wonderful attention to detail in the fixtures and fittings, many of them original pieces. The bespoke kitchen is equipped with home comforts, including an electric hob, microwave and fridge. You can find all cutlery and crockery housed in the retro larder opposite. The sleeping area has a blissful double bed with storage space beneath, shelving above and a TV to sit back and relax after a long day walking. Furthermore, there is a fabulous shower room with WC. There are two comfy leather armchairs which complete the furnishings, where you can gaze out the rear window and watch the flora and fauna in the woodland right outside.
Step outside and enjoy breakfast on the patio with bistro-style garden furniture overlooking the old railway line whilst listening to the morning chorus in the ancient woodland behind. Also, enjoy an evening al fresco experience with a lovely BBQ.
