Named by owner JB—who has lived on islands across the UK, Nantucket, Miami Beach, and the Bahamas—Island Gypsy captures the spirit of unhurried island life at its finest. There is a particular kind of traveler who chooses Green Turtle Cay. They seek something quieter and more authentic than resort pools or crowded beaches—the real Caribbean feel of open water, warm mornings, and peaceful stillness.

Island Gypsy was created for them. Named by owner JB after a lifetime on islands, it embodies genuine island living: unhurried mornings, the sound of the bay, and sea turtles in the shallows.

This ground-floor apartment at Lo Key Cottages on Coco Bay was completely gut-renovated—stripped to concrete and rebuilt with all-new finishes, appliances, furniture, and fixtures. Every detail is fresh and designed to offer the best base for experiencing Green Turtle Cay.

The Apartment

Island Gypsy comfortably sleeps 4 across two bedrooms: a king-bed master with quality linens and the second bedroom with two twin beds (ideal for kids or friends). The modern full bathroom is clean and well-equipped.

The bright, open living area feels relaxed and inviting. The fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher and everything needed for easy meal prep. In-unit laundry lets you pack light and stay longer. Central air conditioning keeps the entire space cool, Starlink provides fast reliable internet, and the backup generator ensures uninterrupted power.

The Porch

The large covered porch is where Island Gypsy truly shines. It overlooks the tropical garden and Coco Bay, offering a front-row seat to stunning views. Shaded, breezy, and generous in size, it’s perfect for morning coffee, afternoon reading, or evening sundowners. No stairs lead directly off it, preserving privacy and seclusion.

The Garden

Lush tropical planting—bougainvillea, palms, and native plants—wraps the property, creating a colorful, established garden that frames the bay views while adding privacy and charm.

Coco Bay

Coco Bay on the western shore of Green Turtle Cay is one of the most beautiful spots in the Bahamas. Its shallow, crystal-clear water reveals a sandy bottom and is home to wild green sea turtles that guests see daily from the porch, shore, or while snorkeling just steps away.

The west-facing bay delivers magical sunsets. Nearby, you’ll find stingray flats, swimming pigs, world-class bonefishing, deserted sandbars, and excellent snorkeling—many accessible by short boat ride.

Green Turtle Cay

This small, charming island in the Abacos is reached by water taxi (about 20 minutes) from Treasure Cay. Life here moves by golf cart, foot, or boat. Explore New Plymouth’s historic pastel-colored streets, enjoy fresh seafood at local restaurants, and experience both calm bay waters and the energetic Atlantic beach on the eastern side.

Getting Here

By Air:

• Marsh Harbour Airport (MHH) is the main airport on Great Abaco with more frequent connections from Nassau and direct flights from several US cities. A 45-minute road transfer takes you to the Treasure Cay ferry dock.

• Treasure Cay Airport (TCB) primarily serves private planes and charters.

By Water Taxi: The regular ferry from Treasure Cay to Green Turtle Cay takes ~20 minutes. The dock is a short golf cart ride from Lo Key Cottages. JB provides full arrival details upon booking.

By Private Boat: Two full-service marinas are near Coco Bay. JB can supply contact and approach info.
