A good base for exploring Glasgow's west end.
The Alfred was clean, comfortable and perfectly situated for the west end. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I have no complaints.

Perfect location for the west end. Extremely helpful staff with great recommendations for a night out. Felt very safe for a woman traveling alone. 10/10 would stay again!!!

Very comfortable, older hotel at a great location with friendly & helpful staff. I like smaller, older hotels instead of big chains. The Alfred was nice with no frills - I enjoyed it & would return.

Bed IN A REAL BAD SHAPE (like my back after this terrible night). TV does not work and the remote control is disgustingly dirty anyway. The hotel entrance is in the dark, and of course with the rain I fall down Only positive point: the lady at the desk is extremely nice..

Booed to have a night away just the two of us then due to family circumstances we could no longer manage our booking, the staff were great when I contacted the hotel contacted and we then decided to bring the kids, this was promptly arranged. When we arrived our room was really big and the kids were really happy. The room was a tad on the dark side for me but that’s jut my taste however it was very in keeping with the style of the room. My wee boy had an accident in the way back at night and the lovely lady on the desk made him some toast! Breakfast was great and the hotel is very central we would stay again

The Alfred
Hotel was lovely and staff very welcoming. The heating was set a bit too high for me, and the shower isn’t the most powerful. There was also a dressing table in my room, but no chair or mirror nearby, which made getting ready to go out a bit tricky. Otherwise I really enjoyed my stay. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was great.

Great night away from the kids at The Alfred.
This was perfect for a night away in the West End. We were attending a concert at Oran Mor nearby and we couldn't have asked for a better location. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff were very welcoming. My only criticism is that the shower was not the best. I realise that our room was at the top of the property, so pressure is an issue. but I'm sure it could be improved somehow.

Charming hotel in good location for the university. Pleasant staff. Continental breakfast included. Lovely large bedroom with comfortable bed and en-suite shower room. I arrived late and had to leave early so didn’t spend much time at the hotel but it was clean and pleasant and I would certainly stay there again.

We stayed here at the recommendation of the Rick Steve's books and it was a good stay. The staff was able to accommodate us and let us into the room several hours before normal check in, and carried suitcases up the two flights of winding stairs. The room was clean, with a wide bed (seemed bigger than an American "double" bed), an excellent view of the street below due to the large windows, and hot water. The hotel is on the older side, so the shower was on the very small side and one of the windows didn't completely close. Breakfast was very pleasant with an assortment of juices and hot drinks, cereals, toasting breads and bagels, yogurt with toppings, and pastries. We started breakfast a little early because of a train we needed to catch and the staff was very accommodating.

Pleasant stay in Glasgow West end
Great location. Nice place to stay. Generous continental style breakfast. Nice staff. Only niggle is the toilet seat was very loose making it uncomfortable to sit on. A simple thing to sort surely. Otherwise happy thanks.

Good location, between 2 subway stops, each 10-15 min walk away. Hill head is walkable to U district and shops/ bars. Room was very nice, cold breakfast choices fine. Exterior landing needs some help. Google maps don't get directions right. Follow the one sign pointing up stairs.

This hotel is unique, cool. I'd call it a boutique hotel. Nice and clean. Staff is just phenomenal. So so kind and helpful with everything. Be prepared, no elevator. I had to walk up 4 flights of stairs. Was happy to for the exercise. They carried my bags up. Room was very nice, clean. Don't eat breakfast so I cant comment.

Lovwed the elegant and historical building- it was a bit tired- paint work on wondows and doors need attention but overall lovely place to stay. The windows might benefit from secondary glazing- canbe a bit noisy at night

Not so good, arrived and checked in, receptionist told used were in room 1, proceeded to take us upstairs open the already occupied room 3 with room 1's key..then proceeds to tell me room 1's is almost the same as the master key. Room 1 is extremely noisy as it was next to reception and the very loud front door. One of the bathroom down lighters was dangling from the roof on its wire. The wall lamps above the bed were so dusty you could have grown mushrooms on them. Location is on the main road no parking resident permits needed everywhere so don't even consider staying here if you are arriving by car. I appreciate this review is pretty poor but this room cost £116.00 for one night. It was a continental breakfast and was OK. And the breakfast area was clean and well laid out. Staffed by mainly students and bless them they were very pleasant and trying hard.

Brilliant location and access to Glasgow University. Slight downside was Wi Fi connection to my room was not consistant, would drop out depoending on where you were sitting in your room but overall very pleasant stay thanks.
