Gorgeous hotel in beautiful setting

Posted 24-Jul-2016
The hotel is in a beautiful setting just on Loch Lomond. Great pool with a flume. My daughter loved it. The hotel is amazing we've stayed before and we loved the room we had. It was a classic double I think. This time we were in a feature room as my daughter came with us. Somehow it felt smaller than the classic double. Would have rated it 5 but we had blinds in our room that were super dusty. I pointed it out and they were v apologetic. The hotel needed a bit of a hoover too! Think they had a couple of weddings on so they were a bit busy. Breakfast was awesome and the grill and the restaurant are beautiful too. My mum used the spa at the carrick. She said it was great but about a 15 min journey away.

Disappointed

Posted 21-Jul-2016
Have stayed here on a few occasions and was lookng forward to our visit. The room was clean apart from stain on throw. When having a shower you were left standing in about 4 inches of water in the bath as water did not drain away quickly enough. Paper coming off a bit on bathroom ceiling. Bedside light not working and another one worked after we tightened the bulb. No glasses for drinks in the room apart from plastic tumbler in bathroom. The meal we had in the grill room was ok - salmon starter first class but steaks a bit tough - asked for medium rare but were overcooked. Had to wait about ten minutes for table at breakfast and when we left the queue was even longer for a table. Very surprised at that. The breakfast itself was just ok, nothing special. Visited the Carrick spa too which was nice but felt this too was not as high a standard as previously. The hotel staff were very nice and worked especially hard in the restaurant but were understaffed. Don't get me wrong Cameron House in a stunning location, in a beautiful building but with new owners it is just not as good as it once was.

Dark, high volume of guests

The hotel is particularly dark inside. The decoration is mainly dark colours and the lighting not strong. Good facilities, especially in the gym.

Lovely hotel in a spectacular setting.

Posted 09-Jul-2016
Pros: Very comfortable, beautiful extensive grounds, lovely pool and plenty to do.
Cons: Dining room service and menu.
Location: Very close to Glasgow and Central Scotland and on the shores of stunning Loch Lomond. We spent time at Lomond Shores, did a boat trip and seaplane .
Enjoyed our stay, felt the dining room could be sharpened up, tables cleared more quickly at breakfast, had to ask for butter at breakfast 3 days out of 4 and on one occasion twice! On the one evening we ate in, the meal was disappointing, very tough steak and at £50 for 3 courses it's not cheap.

An excellent hotel

Cameron House has a very good reputation and it's easy to see why. The rooms are excellent, the staff top-notch (valet parking a very nice touch) and the restaurant and bar make it a lovely place to spend a night or two.

Beautiful hotel, great location - BAD SERVICE

Posted 24-Jun-2016
Great hotel in beautiful setting, room was immaculate and facilities great. Staff however were uninterested, unhelpful and check in took over half an hour (second time around as room not ready and no info about the hotel was provided!) overpriced - paying for the name and not the experience, far better service at other 5* hotels.

Not quite a "house" but quite lovely.

Posted 27-May-2016
Pros: Great location
Cons: The wait time for breakfast was too long - understaffed (both mornings), Half the tables were empty, but there was a 15-20 minute wait to be seated.
Location: Very close to Glascow and the Trossachs. Great location.
I was not expecting such a big facility when we arrived. I wasnt aware of how big the hotel was nor did I know of the many rentable lodges that are part of the Cameron House. This place was quite a wedding destination (at least two while we were there) and felt a bit like a conference center. While I was looking for something a bit more cozy (more like a B&B) it is a beautiful hotel located on a lovely spot right on the lake. The room was beautiful, clean, and comfortablle. The pool, hot tub, and sauna facilities were really amazing (and free) and the reason I would highly recommend this hotel. My only major complaint is that I did not think they had enough dining options for the number of people housed in the vicinity. Without reservations we would not have been able to eat either dinner on the premises. They could use a more family oriented dinner option with burgers, quick service, and a more casual atmosphere.

Impressive hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond.

Posted 25-Apr-2016 on Hotels
Beautiful, full service hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond. The room was spacious, comfortable and seemed newly renovated. There was a lovely little nook in the turret with a glorious view of the Loch. Bar and restaurant were excellent -- which was good, because the hotel is in a rural area. The staff was cheerful and helpful and the grounds were beautiful and perfect for a stroll. The only complaint was that the bathroom was quite cold, and had a peculiar set-up. For our short stay, it was spectacular, and there were plenty of amenities that we didn't even get a chance to experience.

Highly recommend a stay at Cameron House

Staying at Cameron House is pure luxury. The room was tastefully decorated, the food excellent and outstanding service from the staff from the time we arrived. We were reluctant to leave.
