Wonderful location - amazing views.

Posted 23-May-2017
Pros: Comfortable and cultured
Cons: Room maintenance checks.
Cameron House is a great place to relax and enjoy the Loch Lomand countryside. Beautiful quiet manor. We stayed two nights and really enjoyed our time. Unluckily had a few encounters with missed maintenance on two different rooms but were accommodated by the staff very nicely. (Bed was broken, electric shades didn't work, and sink was draining very very slowly). I can't always blame the hotel as many times guests don't report issues. Pool is nice and enjoyable. Loved the Great Scots bar where there is tons of scotch to try. Spent a couple hours reading in the comfy chairs.

Underwhelming 5 star experience

Posted 19-May-2017
Pros: The room was very large and clean, nice decor throughout.
Cons: Better customer service from staff
When we arrived at 4:30pm we had to wait as our room wasn't ready. The hotel staff did not provide a 5 star service, and we had to ask several times for items to be replenished in our room (toilet paper, milk. the rooms are not serviced during the day). Boat house restaurant very expensive for quality and portion size of food.

We always enjoy our stay at Cameron House. We've been going there for 25 years to enjoy the great location, natural beauty of Loch Lomond and the facilities including he superb leisure facilities, swimming pool and spa.

Lovely setting but struggle to see 5 stars....

Posted 14-May-2017
The hotel is in a beautiful setting but there were some occasions where this really wasn't a five star experience. The concierge was helpful and took our cases on arrival. When we checked in most information was given but we had to ask about the leisure and spa facilities. The room was lovely if maybe a little cold and the air conditioning didn't seem to move from cold air. The beds were comfortable if not pillows a little high and the decor maybe a little weathered in the bathroom. We went to the bar in the evening for a drink and were ignored for quite some time while sat at the bar and when someone asked how they could help us we enquiried if table service or bar service. They said table service so we went off to a table and ordered a couple of expensive drinks and when they were presented some time later my wine was warm and the cocktail was mainly ice. Also the wine glass had wine on the bottom which promptly ended up down my top! The morning after we headed for breakfast and were shown to a lovely table although I was served tea from a flask where the colour was not desirable and had to ask for a pot which was much nicer. We also had to ask for butter for our toast! We then ventured off to the Carrick Spa. This was also disappointing although I know separate to the hotel so that's for another day but think broken saunas and slightly weathered. All in all I am not entirely sure this hotel is worth the price tag. It's ashame as I had such high hopes!

Pros: The Martin Wishart restaurant is excellent and one the best restaurants.
Cons: The seating layout of the Grill restaurant. There is a row of approx 6 round tables of 6 half way back, which are very seldom occupied!!!
The room was comfortable and well appointed but expensive. The Grill restaurant in the hotel has very poor layout. The majority of tables for 2 are at the back of the restaurant, with one person facing the back wall and no atmosphere. The food is just average and not very creative and not worth the money. However the Martin Wishart restaurant in the hotel is excellent. Superb menu and excellent food, although it's expensive it's worth every penny! There is a vast difference between the 2 restaurants.

Great location

Overall an excellent stay in a fab setting the hotel is busy and the staff are consistently good no matter where you encounter them from the conceriege the reception to the waiters and bar staff. A few little niggles no mirror in the bedroom apart from inside a wardrobe door and some areas of the hotel are a little tired. The breakfast had an excellent selection although the buffet wasn't as hot as I would have liked. We ate in the Cameron grill and the food was beautifully presented and delicious. The spa was fantastic. Lovely time and would stay again

Lovely setting - very busy and lots tired decor

A lovely setting on Loch Lomand. The staff were brilliant throughout the stay, but for the room price I expected greater attention to detail. Food was top notch but the rooms need refreshing.
