Great breakfast and excellent service. Everyone in staff were super friendly and helpful. The cottages are modern, highly recommended for small families! Even barbeque facilities included. We booked a cabin, very pretty and also private. Stayed here for one night on our way further north with 2 adults and one kid. You can hear the cars from the E4, but that did not disturb us too much. Inside the cabin you do not hear them. The interior in the main house looked stylish, but a bit simpler in the houses we lived in. Rooms were fine and the view from our room was amazing. The area towards the lake had good trails for walking. We had to skip the restaurant, because the a la carte menu was boring, and you could not sit in the restaurant - that required a full 3 course menu. Perched high above Lake Vättern, it has a grand view of the lake, whether from a large terrace, one of its several lounging spaces, a glassed-in dining room, or from rooms facing the lake. It also has a baronial dining room, in which the very good breakfast buffet is laid out. We dined there in the evening, as well, and the food was excellent. We enjoyed comfortable suites overlooking the lake. The one disadvantage is that the old, castle-like hotel does not have an elevator, which made carrying up luggage a challenge, especially as we three couples were of ages 60 to 82\. There was no indication of staff to assist with the luggage, which is the reason I gave "Staff & Service" 4 stars instead of 5\. It has two newer two-story auxiliary buildings, which do have elevators. We have stayed in these before. Comfortable beds, quite. - no toothpaste in reception. pillow way too small and flat, when asked for more, could only provide 2 extra pillows even though hotel was pretty emtpy. Glass shatter on bathroom floor. Too hot in rooms (due to no AC and too many insects outdoors).
