This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. It was a perfect 2 night stay for our family. They had the cottage decorated beautifully. We got to use the paddle boards and kayaks. Matt, the owner, was even around to give a sunset cruise. The place was just as pictured with amazing views from every window. Host was responsive and very accommodating. However, I do want to warn future bookers about the bugs. If you stay in the time we did (July) there were spiders galore inside and out of the unit. We did our best to try to ignore them but if you have someone that is afraid of spiders / bugs please note that they will encounter quite a bit of them anytime outside. We were unable to enjoy the outdoor furniture and spaces due to the bugs and spiders. Also the 2nd bathroom is located outside under the house. It’s a great 2nd bathroom however if you use it at night you will encounter webs/spiders. It’s not the fault of the hosts they were amazing. However we would have booked somewhere else if we knew about the natural surroundings of this place. ##### Tony A.
